2015 Aprilia Tuono V4R | Ride & Review
Hello Dukes & Duchesses, and welcome to the latest iteration in the saga that is DukeOfDC. It has been an incredible couple of weeks for me, and as you can see from this video, I am the proud owner of this 2015 Aprilia Tuono V4R aPRC ABS.
Holy F$#k, this thing is absolutely savage. My FZ6 is but a memory, and the future of DukeOfDC is looking mighty bright!
Don't forget to like, subscribe, and comment! :)
Also, sorry the audio has this little chipping sound... when I added the music at the very beginning, RU-vid's music thing f&cked up my original audio.

I'm glad to see you bought one, you have chosen wisely. I personally wanted the black one, but the dealer was doing a great deal on the white one which was a no brainier, but now I'm glad I bought the White as its really grown on me. Your first thoughts were similar to mine. I loved it from the outset, but I was a little wary of it for the first 800 miles. I'm up to 1500 miles on mine now, and I'm feeling that I'm really starting to gel with it, and I'm certain you'll revise your 8.5 initial score to a 9.5. In 30 years of riding, no bike that I've ever ridden or owned has felt this special, I can't get my ass of it! Good video buddy and ride safely on that beauty :)

Thank you!! I'm sure I will have a revised score after the 600 mile service, when I get to really open it up! It really does feel special. I took it to a Cars & Coffee this morning, and had to wipe the drool off of a few spectators ha. Definitely pleased with my choice. Safe riding to you as well my friend!

@@DukeOfDC I'm planning to purchase a 2014 model it currently have 14000klm on it are there any issues you've experienced with it that you would recommend I keep an eye out for!? And do you have any advice you can forward in regards to long term ownership

Thanks for your enjoyable videos, including the occasional slang! Your videos got me looking at the Tuono again. Sure enough I stopped at the local dealer over the weekend and they made me an offer I couldn't refuse. Literally within the last hour I completed the purchase of a 2016 V4 1100 RR. Looking forward to getting back into something that has excess power, plus the character/style and great sound. Riding season just ended for the most part, but the price was right...now to sit and stare at er in the garage all winter. Out with the Hypermotard 796 (great bike), in with the Tuono V4 1100 RR. Mine is silver/grey which I like a lot, but the white is sharp!

+gsgoinwest That's freaking awesome man! Congratulations, I'm certain you won't be disappointed! Damn that is going to be a tough winter. I say it's time to put on every jacket you own and take it out for as many rides as you can before the snow comes (given it hasn't snowed already). Glad I could inspire the Tuono lifestyle, safe riding!

Fantastic bike! Fellow T V4 owner here. Don't sweat the heat (so to speak) mine will run up to low 200s when I'm stopped but goes back down into the 180s or 190s and it seems happy there. Agree about the score but I think if you go in with the desire of just wanting a fun bike then the score could actually go up. Like you, I wasn't looking for that super practical bike by any means.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 9 лет назад
I think that as I have accepted what the Tuono is meant to be, that score has definitely gone up. The more comfortable I get on it and the more readily I can manipulate the power, the more I freaking love it. That's not to say that there may be other bikes in the near future, but still a fantastic bike. Can't wait for some cold Autumn riding on this thing with that heat though ;)

I could help you burn through that gas XD Nice channel man subbed ya from a fellow vlogger! You got me looking into this bike. I'd like a street fighter since they are cheaper on insurance (I have the same bike as Joe) Street fighter seems cheaper overall with equivalent if not more power. Safe riding
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
+The Muscle Biker Thanks for the sub bro! If you have any questions about the Tuono just hit me up! If you're even in the DMV you can take mine for a spin and see if you like it. The street fighter can definitely be found a little cheaper, but you lose out on a lot of the tech upgrades the Tuono has. You could probably find a 2014 V4R for like $9K

DukeOfDC they are most definitely going to be the baddest bikes out there until the evolution of the superduke comes out or something radical. the MT10 SP is now on the same level as the s1000r which is cool. anyways I'm gonna keep watching all these videos and get some gear to get started! cheers mate

I'm looking into becoming a rider. I did a research as to what i should get considering my wife will be accompanying me on a lot of rides as a pillion. So i was thinking an FZ 8 or 1 will do it..... Then i saw your video of the first ride with Agatha... Instantly i fell in love. =) Sooo... Thanks for f&#@ing up my plan, haha. Just kidding, love the good stuff you put out. There is a certain calmness about you, that drew me to watch the majority of your vids. Nice & much appreciated. :-)
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
+Simon Klander Glad you're enjoying the channel and Agatha (renamed to ThunderCat as of March 2016 lol). I would however strongly advise against buying a Tuono as your first bike - it's a beast. Perhaps look into an FZ-07? Maybe a Ducati Scrambler if you're interested in owning Italian.

I am seriously considering this bike.. this is the best review I have found yet.. I am unsure if it would be a good fit for me at 6'2".. Gonna go check one out on my next days off to see how the rider position feels to me.. thanks for the great review.. new sub!!
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
+Braaaap815 It's an amazing bike, but at 5'9 I can't really speak to it's comfort for someone at 6'2", although I imagine it would be more comfortable as I tend to feel a little short on it. Are you looking to get this model (1000cc) or a new 1100cc? Thanks for the sub!!
@Braaaap815
@Braaaap815 8 лет назад
I am looking at a 2015 model.. it is at a discounted price and I probably don't need the extra CC's of the 2016.. I'm sure it has plenty of power..
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
Braaaap815 Oh yeah, power would not be the reason I would suggest looking into the new 1100. It's all about the improved ergos, but at the prices that Aprilia is pushing out those 1000's, it's such a steal of a deal.

Hey man. Very informative and all around good video. Considering moving up to the Tuono eventually. Right now on a 2014 Street Triple R. Something you said that turned me off about the Tuono is the gas mileage! I average about 45mpg or so on my bike and I don't go easy on the throttle. Do you have to fill up every 90 miles? Still want the bike though for obvious reasons.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 9 лет назад
+GoProChicken Thanks!! It was my first review, so thanks for bearing with me lol. The mpg and the heat are still things that I warn people about when it comes to the Tuono. The heat is something you get used to, and learn to avoid heavy traffic because of, and the MPG is not great. I fill up at about 120miles on average, and that is with a fair amount of highway miles mixed in with MPG killing heavy traffic city miles. On a road trip with it I was averaging 42mpg (per the onboard computer), and could easily go 150+ miles before a fill up. Other Tuono owners will tell you though, don't F with that fuel light haha, that thing comes on, find some gas asap.

If you had to choose one of the two for best all-rounder (for long and short distances), would you go with a Tuono or a Superduke 1290? Just subscribed by the way, great channel!
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
+El Jefe thanks for subscribing! Tough question because the newest 1100 Tuono's are more comfortable than mine, but still race oriented so I would say the SuperDuke would be better off on long distance riding.

Cool looking and sounding bike. Got a Gen 2 myself. One question.....are you forks out of line. It looks like your forks are twisted a little to the left. I can see the mirrors are not square (no big deal), but your forks actually look slightly off.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 9 лет назад
theflyingmat Hey! I don't believe they are. If anything the mirrors were just installed a little crooked. I will take a more observant look at them when I get back on the bike this evening though. The mirrors are on the actual bars though, so maybe I don't know what you mean by the forks being twisted.

@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
+E.S. BiH I am still happy with the Tuono, but depending on what you'll need it for, the Tuono might not be right for you. If you're going to be commuting heavily on it, I would look into a used S1000R. The maintenance on the Tuono has been fantastic so far - nothing out of the ordinary.

so what's the difference between the different styles of this motorcycle. rr's, factory, and aprc?
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 8 лет назад
Only two styles for the new 1100 Tuono, the RF (ohlins, forged wheels, factory paint scheme) and the RR or standard version. This video is on a 2015 1000 V4R. The APRC is the name of the Aprilia electronics package. Hope that clears things up.

@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 9 лет назад
I was able to get them off with water and your standard auto wash soap. Didn't leave and residual behind and didn't mess with the paint. I would suggest getting any gas stains off sooner than later so not to damage the paint.

@ericheikkinen9110
@ericheikkinen9110 9 лет назад
Dude they won't let you test ride the bike because it is a sport bike, and most people who buy them tend to speed and pull wheelies and lane split, and they are afraid that someone will do that on a test ride and crash. It's the same with all sport bikes. Good job with the video though.
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 9 лет назад
Eric Heikkinen You'd be surprised though. The more premium brands like Ducati and BMW will let you take a test ride in a heartbeat (in the US at least) because those companies have built in insurance to allow for the dealerships to provide test rides. Less premium brands like the Japanese bikes don't have this built in program, so the liability for a dealership just isn't worth it.

Jesper Lind Hmmm, what do you do with you bikes? Are you a daily commuter? Weekend warrior? Canyon Carver? All the above? I love my Tuono, but if you are going to be putting a ton of miles on it, get the S1000R. It was much more comfortable, refined, and still has the power that you would want from a 1000cc naked sports bike. However, if you want something that sounds f*cking insane, rips through the bends, has a historic racing heritage, and turns heads at every corner, get the Tuono ;). Thanks! You also dont need a 600, why dont you buy a 50cc? Acctually you should coz you dont know the bike you are ridind, the 2014 model is 1000cc, 2015 is indeed 1100cc; how a "biker" who makes video reviews dont know how to put some petrol in the tank? I take back what i said, you should be riding a bicycle !
@DukeOfDC
@DukeOfDC 6 лет назад
In 2015 they were updating to the new 1100cc, yes. However there was also overlap of the old 1000cc configuration. My bike was a leftover 1000cc, and early year production Tuono. They didn't sell the 1100 in this older white paint scheme. As for riding a bicycle, I couldn't agree more! Any dumb dumb that isn't proficient enough to fill a fuel tank properly should stick to muscle power :). Anyway, thank you for watching!! I really do appreciate your support on the channel.
