When I'm on the track, I put it in Track Mode. It turns the traction control off but keeps the AdvanceTrac on it's lightest setting. If the track is bumpy, I'll put the suspension in the softer setting but keep it in Track Mode. If I'm at an autocross, I turn everything off. No traction control and no AdvanceTrac.
Running this course in 12 days!! Man that car screaaams it sounds amazing. Driving a car like yours i can imagine all the fun you were having, great video!
Man your timer is way off. I drive that track 8 to 10 times a year in the same car with mods. Turn 1 95 mph, 2, 75 at apex 85-87 at exit. Turn 3 70 to 72. Turn 4 68, 5 coming out 55 to 60. Back half 110 into 8. And 131 on the front straight and I’m getting 2:17. Not pounding my brakes and hurting my engine. I can just listen to your engine and know your not close to to any limits. I video all my runs to review and you hear the tires squeal around the corners and see the car lurch. I’m not calling you out just saying those times are way wrong. You have a very capable car with bad tires. Your young and probably capable of being more aggressive. You do down shift in the right places but aren’t aggressive enough on the throttle. Change those tires to Toyo r888r, the tire our car comes with are crap. The new 350 cup tire will last 2 track days that’s 700 dollars for a weekend. On top of the insurance and track fees. If your doing HOD drop down to A and get a coach, do it for a season. Your car is a monster. They can teach you to master it. Then all that impressive tech you go going on with that video will be real cool.
I haven't seen your videos so I can't comment on how you're getting 2:17 but I can assure you my timer is accurate. I ran a 2:05 with balding GT350R Sport Cup 2s on the bypass config and ran with many other GT350s that put up similar times. Maybe your timer is off? Maybe you're over driving the car? I don't know but my times are correct. Look at the times I posted on my other videos. They all make perfect sense. And FYI, the new Cup2 tires on the GT350 are completely different than the GT350R compound. They'll last much more than 2 track days. The GT350R tires last about 4, depending on driving style. The new GT350 ones are a harder compound and more similar to the old MPSS ones. All Cup 2s are not built the same.
For all the telemetry, I use a Bluetooth OBDII reader plugged into the car and connected to my phone to record the data in a CSV file. Then I combine the videos and create the overlays in RaceRender on my PC. The cameras are just regular GoPros.
Adding the speedo and tach to the video is a really nice touch. I'd always wondered what a GT350 (which has one of the nicest sounding engines) sounds like at various speeds.
A few slower places on the course I noticed you could down shift to keep the rpm up in the power band better but the car sounds really nice. I want to try this track this year.
I'm assuming PB group means "Point by passing"? If it does, then no, it was recommended to point by but not required. The group wasn't entirely open either because we only had a few passing zones on certain straights.
That's an odd system from what I'm used to. Point by is mandatory for slower drivers but passes can be made anywhere on the track in our 'Point by' group, which is pretty much intermediate. In Open (advanced), our drivers pass at will with no pointing, no restrictions. Our Solo group must point by and only on straights and in designated areas. Some straights you cannot pass. I wonder where your group fits in. I like to experience different rule sets to see what provides the best flow. Yours is interesting. MPSS are great tires aren't they? Hit me up if you're running 285/35-19. I have a ton of those in MPSS and Cup2's for CHEAP.
Hey man have you driven a C6Z06 by any chance. I'm thinking about trading mine for a GT350 and would like some feedback. I've taken mine multiple times at THill and have averaged about your times. 2'06"-2'10" range.
joszer sorry man. The only Vette I've driven is an automatic C3 with a 305ci lol. I wish I could give you some type of comparison. I love my GT350 though. It's been almost 2 years and I still get the same tingly feeling every time I start it up. The new ZL1 is faster, but there's something about that Voodoo and the balance of this car that makes me want to keep this forever.
RaiderJatt02 thanks for your feedback. I love my Vette to death I just want something different now. Seems like the GT350 will cure that itch. The hard part is that all my local dealers have markups on theirs and you'd have to sacrifice your first born for a test drive. Just trying to get some feedback before undertaking all the trouble. If you happen to be down in the Modesto/Stockton area I'd gladly let you test drive my Z06 with the Z07 package if I can take a swing in your GT350.
joszer sooo jealous lol thats the better buy for sure!! even over the gt350 congrats man. i eanted the ss 1le myself but couldnt get the extra money so i settled with my gt. u going to a thunderhill event anytime?
