Just bought this car, I liked it much better than the TLX I test drove. Handled better, felt quicker, and perfect size for me. Love it and it turns heads.
andthentherewasarth I still love this car just as much. I have it in white and get compliments on it all the time. There's nothing I don't like about it!
I have it for over 2 years now. Got the 2016 and in term of general use, I love everything about it. It's plenty power enough but would be nice for maybe another 20HP-30HP. Handling and how the car feels is Acura brand on point. Smooth and quick. Gear shifts perfectly smooth up and down.
TEST DRIVE the 2013 version and if you dnt like that one , then test drive the 2016,, dont get the 2017 just yet find a good deal, the 2016 supposed to be very good but there are differences. test drive the cars and get what u feel most comfortable with. thesecars turn heads bro the ride on them is awesome...
@@TrumpsaTerroristChangeMyMind if you're still looking, go for the TLX. In my opinion it looks a lot nicer, it drives really well, and can be a bit of a race car when you want it to in Sport+ but still great on fuel in Econ. You can find em used as little as 19k, bought mine for that price with 46k miles
"Reliability matters more than a Badge" it cannot be more true... New Mercs are basically dead on water in the first year and BMW while last a little longer it will also crap out in the 3 year lifespan... Acura =/= Honda = Amazing Reliability.
My BMW is going strong after 3 years. No issues whatsoever. I don't know where you get your information but don't over-generalize brands you may not have any experience with.
Ariel Sarino Sorry but my X5 was crap.. Blown air bags at the first year and BMW could not fix the issue, Sure they replace them under warranty but then it was an expense every 2 years because the Air Bags would simply not last.. Finally Rattling on the timing belt chain resulted in an almost 4K Bill to repair on the N62.. Which was the last straw... Yeah it was fancy, yes it was powerful but by no means it was a car in which it was sensible to fix a Timing Chain for 4000dlls considering the high rate of depreciation. Last time I did the MDX Timing Belt myself it cost me less than 400 bucks, Sure it isn´t an X5 but at least it doesn´t rape my wallet when something goes south.
Ariel Sarino no one cares about your exception to the rule, we care about averages. We aren't buying your car, and we wanna know what the likelihood of is that the BMW well potentially purchase will have issues. BMW averages much better than Merc, which is one of the lowest rated luxury car companies in terms of reliability, but their averages fall below Lexus and Audi. From someone that drives a Lexus and enjoys reliability in my cars, the only euro brand I would consider is Audi.
2 months into a used 2017 with 30k km on it. So far, my only complaint is that there's no good place to put coins, and a weird occasional rattle that i can't locate, let alone reproduce (but i will eventually find and destroy it!). Otherwise, an amazing car especially for the money. Plans include RV6 PCD, window tint, 18" wheels, and 225 or 235 wide tires.
@@akamst4468 yup. Can't remember exactly what but it was my own fault. I had something in the center console shaking around. Clean out everything from your car and test. Then put back what u need securely.
The Mercedes CLA looks stunning on the outside but the inside feels so cheap and cramped. I was shocked, and I sat in the CLA45. My Nissan has a nicer interior.
I think it's something that's recommended because it keeps your vehicle components cleaner. Regular gas tends to build up carbon a lot more than premium gas. Make sure to do a little more research on that and hopefully you car doesn't wear out sooner than the intended date.
Cr oh there is scientifically but still haven’t “noticed” any difference between Regular and Premium gasoline but maybe an 2-3 mpg improvement when I use non-ethanol gasoline which rated at 90 at my local station.
Definitely still a "fancy" Civic. The transmission seems to be the only high point for the ILX, but not enough to differentiate it from the Civic. It evens uses the same infotainment unit seen in Honda. Acura needs to put more effort in differentiating their cars in refinement, performance, and tech from Honda if they want to be taken seriously. It seems to compete in a class lower than the A3 and CLA, like the Buick as mentioned.
Just bought an ILX after 16 years with the Teg ( which was unhappily totaled in an accident). This car is a smaller TLX. Any resemblance to the Civic is gone. Never thought I would drive an automatic, but I like this car more, the more I drive it. In sport mode it s fun to drive. My guess is that the engine will be a lot more reliable than the new turbos.
I still like the videos, but I feel like they're getting sillier and sillier with the commentary. It makes it hard to take you guys seriously sometimes.
chocolate milk Finding a good balance between seriousness and lightheartedness is tricky but we're trying. I'll try to keep the silliness within reason. :)
***** That was honestly my only gripe, and I've only thought about it in a couple videos - such a minor issue. To be honest, 99.9% of the time your team is miles ahead of other reviewers. It's why I still watch and enjoy all your videos. Keep up the lovely work.
choose wisely on the reviews you click on. some of these guys destroy fine cars just because they dont like it. some of these guys are not everyday drivers, they just do reviews for the amount of likes and subscriptions without reallly taking the needs of people when it comes to choosing a car
Thanks Micah! I own a 2017 base model and I like it! Wish it had the safety watch but otherwise a great car doesn't feel like a civic in my experience.
Hey Micah, You mentioned the car is Quieter than the CIVIC it's based on but how about ROAD NOISE? My New Civic had very loud road noise.Great Review as always Micah!
gene978 Good question. I could have been clearer in my description. The ILX benefits from additional noise-insulating materials, thicker front door glass, and active noise control (utilizing the audio system to counteract unpleasant frequencies). Add it up and you've got a much quieter interior than the Civic's...though I still really like the Civic.
I hate how most of these guys do reviews. Take the car for what it is i own the 2013 ilx and i love it . i dont beat on it as it is not a muscle car, BUT not to mention the smooth smooth ride i get at 80 + miles per hour, some people complain about the sensitivity of the steering,,, not me am a sharp driver so i like a car to respond as quick as i want it, I have received so many compliments from so many people driving mercedez and volkswagons ,,, also there is no way in helll that entry level mercedez compares to the ilx, my recommendation: FIND AND DECIDE ON A CAR THAT FEEDS YOUR NEEDS. IF YOU WANT A DRAG RACER DO NOT BUY THIS CAR UNLESS U CAN GO ON GREEN FASTER THAN UR OPPONENT , ALSO YOU WILL NEED TO PUT IT ON SPORT MODE. IF YOU WANT A RELIABLE CAR AND SHARP TURNS WITH NO ROLLOVER AND LIKE TO DRIVE ON THAT LEFT LANE AT 90+ MILES AN HOUR, THIS CARS FOR YOU
exactly is all about research. before i bought this car i was looking for a head turner and most definetly reliability. i got the best of both worlds not to mention the compliments G,, especially the ladies. the car just looks sharp.
the fuel field is complex,, (and to be honest, unless you are literally out there testing the fuel and doing labs on fuel yourself and experimenting what really is in our fuel.......,,,it is all a freaking scheme.) but i have noticed that when i use regular gas on my 2013 it runs just fine BUT a bit more sluggish,, ( it feels like i got a car full of passesngers) from talking to an acura professional i found out that you can run the ilx on regular or premium because it has a sensor that determines wether you are using regular or premium and it basically lowers on ratio when ur using regular and it goes back up when u use premium BUT the ilx will run on either regular or premium just fine. I never let my gas tank hit empty at least i try,, and only use shell, Kroger or tom thumb ,, i have used others but thats because i had no choice,, i try to feed my car the same fuel.
also, I was in the Arboriculture field for a long time. and what i have noticed on chainsaw motors ,,, for some reason the smaller motor seem to have a longer life span then the bigger motors, 4 cylinders vs 8 cylinders,, theres more problems with the bigger engines,, i think smaller engines have more longevity,,, that also explains why honda has had a lot of problems with the 6 cylinder,, i think that it is hard to perfect the 6 cylinder field. to be able to call it reliable
Hi, I've driven both the 2017 Acura ILX ASpec 8-speed and the 2017 Mazda 3 sedan 6-speed auto. I can't decide between the two for point to point acceleration. I sensed the Mazda 3 is faster from idling rpm to about 30mph and the ILX wins the crown at the end of the line. I can really feel the Mazda push me more back to the seat from stop light. What do you guys think ? Cheers !!
An Acura is still a Honda and that matters more to me then any other luxury car, As of right now i drive a 2013 Honda Civic and in that Acura ILX inside and out reminded me of my Civic... Wow the ILX is based of my Civic if i change my front badge and rear but keep the rear a Civic and the front grill an ILX headlights to those LEDs and front bumper into an ILX ill be driving a hybrid mix of a Honda Civic and a Acura ILX.... Kniffe!!
The 9th Generation Civic is a nice little car but it's not worth that much money. After driving one for a year, it's hard to see myself paying that much money for an Acura badge.
Hello if anyone can give me there feedback i would love it especially since its been a few years now that you may have had the car. Im thinking about buying a used 2017 Acura ILX with 50000 miles on it i road tested it and i really liked it. If anyone can give me there feedback or input I'd greatly appreciate it
if only it came with acura's super handing all wheel drive, then it would be a huge draw for me but for now i'm still leaning towards a slightly used cpo audi a3 2.0t quattro
The Ilx will provide you the premium driving experience such as Bmw 5 series for example, while Honda provides you what you pay for, those who say it's Honda are fucking idiots, i owned a 5 series Bmw, i drove the Ilx and drove my sister's Honda Civic
Not that this car is bad but I really don't see this as an Integra replacement or a CLA competitor. Honda desperately needs to take some pointers from the Germans in terms of premium design, heck even the Koreans do a better job then this. That new front end is very overdone. I think even older model was a lot more handsome.
Totally disagree. This ilx looks very sharp , inside and out. And is reliable. The Cla looks like a mini fridge , inside looks like crap. And the cla is also a money pit , no reliability
So an Acura-fied Civic, essentially. You might as well get a preowned one for $16,000, as the resale value of this car has to be the worst of its class by a lot. A maxed out Accord is a way better deal and will hold its value much much better.
Consumer Reports graded Acura 38/100 for reliability, with the ILX being its least reliable model. Also, all of these reviews compare the new ILX to the old Civic, which isn't comparing apples to apples. If you compared the new ILX to the new Civic, you would surely see what a waste of money the ILX is. Also - the review lost all credibility when they claimed that the 8 speed DCT transmission is anything but garbage. I would sooner drive a CVT Civic than this 8-speed DCT - and I HATE CVT transmissions. I was a fool and leased the ILX over the Civic; it might be my last Acura.
scott nsiah Depends on what type of Ilx you have, i own the 2014 and my shit looks fabolous, black on chrome rims, my horsepower max speed is 260, leather black seats, and more, but ofcourse i own the top of the line Ilx
It's still nothing more than a gussied up Civic. At least make it RWD or give it SH-AWD. At least Toyota didn't make the IS a fancier Corolla. It's RWD or AWD. Acura is a strange brand.
+igeekone The IS bases 10K more and isn't anything like this car. The stuff in this segment from the German brands is all base front wheel drive too in order to keep costs down.
+igeekone Lets be honest, to the average buyer/driver, FWD is more practical than RWD. No transmission hump, better performance in snowy and rainy conditions, and not to mention, RWD eats up trunk space.
so what are you saying???the civic sucks ??? civic is an amazing car,, and if you actually drove the two you would notice the differences,,, the ilx is an amazing car, not to mention reliability and gas mileage. my ILX is at 51,000 miles after only two years of driving and all it asks for is oil changes every 4,000 to 5000 miles nothing more, no hiccups no see dealers situations
Take "needs premium fuel" with a grain of salt. My 2003 Acura TL manual states the same thing. I've been putting 89 octane in it for nearly 7 years and I'm positive the previous owner did too. It runs just fine.
