Transmission was torn down and found lots of metal! The one-way clutch failed and filled the transmission with metal. This is a low mileage failure for sure and unfortunate. #skyactiv #mazda #cx5 #automatictransmission
I'm getting a strange noise on deceleration no brake in my 2015 cx-5. It's hard to describe and it's not particularly loud. I've noticed a couple of other random louder noises upon deceleration but it's only done it a few times. Sounds like drive line. I've noticed a lugging sound in 6th below 2500 rpms since I bought it with 95k. Figured it was normal. Maybe not..now new sound on deceleration has me worried.
Update. It was bad rear driveshaft u joint where it mounts to transfer case. They were completely mangled at 107000 miles. Just put a supposed 20000 mile lkq used driveshaft in and it's got the same initial noise so I'm assuming it's going out also even though the joints seemed tight. Flange was bent and rubber boot was ripped. So it will be returned and ordered a new china driveshaft. Looks like it at least has replaceable u joints. With rear driveshaft out I had no noise at all so hopefully it's driveshaft and not transfer case issues.
