I saw a picture of this bike in in the end of January and sold my car the next day. Walked for several months waiting for it to arrive after putting money on it for first right of refusal. First bike I've ever owned, and pretty much ridden. (Just a few hours of training week prior to owning) I absolutely love everything about it. Just got out of first phase of break in.

Yeah, he doesn't like him... At least, that's my impression. Possibly the forced, faux hipster look he's projecting.

If you watch a lot of his videos then you know that he does that (or, if they are in the car, he'll mash the gas so the exhaust note drowns out the fellow who is taking) quite often. I think interrupting people is his true passion. 😁 It's a quality that really does make for a poor interviewer, but it can be rather amusing! 👌

As a professional mechanic from the '60s and '70s, I had the experience of riding and testing all weights of machines and can attest to the better response of lighter machines to the rider. I think it's very positive move of Ducati to return to this weight bracket of machines. The safety factor is increased by the ability to avoid dangerous traffic and road conditions, a down side of heavy ones. It enhances confidence when you know the capability of the bike to respond quickly.

Yeah man. My '90 900ss weighs 200kg wet with 20 litres of fuel in its modified tank. Lightweight compensates for its handling deficiencies :-D

In the 6th grade, my '57 Cushman Eagle weighed over 300 pounds. What I wouldn't have given for a 50 pound mini-bike....
@whalesong999
@whalesong999 7 лет назад
Yeah, my first ride was a '57 Zundapp 200, probably weighed in the area of 260 lbs. First impressions must take root, I owned bikes about that weight until the early '80s though I spent much more time on customer's machines up to 1300cc. Always felt more comfortable with the crisp response and braking efficiency of lighter machines.

I bought this bike back in 2018 and absolutely love it. I actually started biking when cafe races were the thing and, yes we did race on the road, usually the A1, before speeding became an issue. It reminds me of the Triton I owned then. I have owned most of the top sport bikes over the years and I have to say none of them were as much fun as this Ducati. It is just so balanced. I got one of the last black ones in the UK the blue and silver is just not right. I just love it. Well back out on the Lincolnshire woulds in the morning. Again!

Hi Jay. Really enjoy the utube series, especially the bikes. I'm like you, I like what they call now retro bikes as far as the seating and looks. Very comfortable and fun to ride. I'll be sixty five in July and have been riding since I was fourteen. The one thing that drives me nuts you do in your videos is lane changing without signaling. I realize most people won't let this influence them to do this but seeing someone in your position ,with bikes ,may give younger riders and guys that want to ride some day the idea that's how it's done. Keep up the good work.

A trick I learned from a motorcycle magazine back in the 80s works no matter how big the bike is. Its best if you can get the bike in gear. If the bike is laying on its right side you want the front wheel pointing right so that the right side handlebar grip is under the bike. Squat down.facing away from the bike grabbing the right grip with your left hand and something secure at the rear of the bike with your right hand. Take a deep breath and lift with your legs. I was able to pick up a fully loaded Gold Wing for a guy when I was 17, 5'9" and 150lbs. The good old days. ;-)

I love the current retro trend and the resurging popularity of the 650-800cc mid size lightweight naked or retro style bikes. I'm 70, and i looked seriously at the Ducati scrambler, but the final choice went to a Yamaha MT07 789cc naked, mostly for ease of use and maintenance interval reasons, with it's cross plane 270 degree crank, it is super torquey, and sounds like a harley, but goes and handles like a modern sport bike. For guys like me, it is all the bike I need. if cost and service were not issues, I might have the Ducati, nice looking machine.
