I've actually been considering this car and I currently own a Miata. It's tough because my Miata is clearly sportier and handles better but this fusion sport is still faster at the end of the day. Can I just have this motor set up in the Miata 🤣.

I own this car and I like it. It’s a comfortable car with enough power to merge with little effort on the freeways. Everyone reviewing it defaults to comparing it to high performance BMWs or whatever and that’s not what this car really is. It’s a powerful, comfortable, daily driver.

I mean..... The numbers are in their ball park... V6 panamera (same hp but way more torque), Acura TLX type S (25 hp less but 25 lb ft more torque)... Its not really that far off.. I like to think that it at least doesn't offend when you are really driving it.. The others are just more sharp in their feel...

Most of us don't want a Fusion ST. It will be our daily driver. Its sporty enough. The epitome of a sports sedan circa 2005, before sports sedan meant hot rod track beast. You know, a ride/handling balance. A stealth vehicle that has the luxury of a family sedan with a more power and better handling.

Now if Ford were to give this car the RS treatment with a better AWD, manual transmission, lighter weight, small wing over the back, stiffer suspension and handling kits, and more power with a better exhaust note, they would have a great car that would be an alternative to the STI but for people who dont like hatches

does anyone know where I can buy parts for the 2017 Fusion? I've owned my SE Ecoboost since June and I'm annoyed that I still can't find after market parts. and I'd like to switch my chrome grill out with the black one that's on the sport

Danut Lavric Ford has beaten Ferrari at Le Mans a few times if I remember correctly. Also, you should take a look at the Corvette Z06, Camaro ZL1, Shelby GT350, Viper ACR, Cadillac CTS V, and ATS V. All of these cars frequently beat out European cars at the track. Also let's not forget Tesla, which leads the world in electric cars and autonomous driving. They already have the technology to make cars fully autonomous. Europeans are far behind on that front. A Tesla makes the BMW i3/i8 look like a joke. This Fusion sport will keep up with any comparably powered mid sized European sedan such as a BMW 535i or Audi A6 and do it at half the cost. Pretty impressive actually. Don't get me wrong, I love European cars to death, but to say that Americans don't know how to build a car show that you know nothing about cars. Period.

To answer your apple carplay question: touching the "ford sync app" (2nd from left, bottom row) will back you out of carplay back to the factory interface.

I think Ford has outdone itself with the Ford Fusion Sport packing 380 lbs. -ft. of torque coming from a midsized sedan and the first-ever to pack so much torque in a midsize sedan and being one of the few to offer an all-wheel drivetrain in a midsize sedan offering 325 horsepower that is capable of being stationary to 60 in 4.9 seconds. A Honda Accord Touring V6 cannot stand a chance in a twin-turbo tug-of-war nor will a Toyota Camry XSE V6 , Nissan Altima 3.5L or a Nissan Maxima. Furthermore, an Infiniti Q50 3.7L will get smoked in a drag race. The Fusion sport is thy fastest mainstream brand midsize sedan currently on sale from any major automaker in the entire world. I cannot applaud Ford's engineers for building such an amazing car regardless of the induction noise that many other vehicles have made. It's a Ford - a mainstream brand - so I am not expecting Mercedes-Benz luxury or BMW performance and handling. The automaker is the only company who dared to become different while bringing relevance to a midsize sedan. Kudos to you, Ford! The chassis is fortified with stiffened springs and anti-roll bars, and variable-damping shocks that borrow their technology from the Lincoln MKZ but with tuning aimed more at sport handling than ride plushness. They can sense the road every 3 milliseconds and alter damping every 30 milliseconds, and they incorporate pothole detection programming that senses a sudden dramatic drop, and alters the damping to reduce the shock transmitted to the cabin.

I don't understand why someone will criticize a mainstream low $40k price range vehicle; it's not a BMW 3-series that will handle like a true sports car.

Thank you for reviewing the '17 Fusion Sport. I currently have a '10 Fusion Sport. I love the car and I'd like to upgrade to the '17 Sport. It contains everything I want and need. The only issue that I have with this car is the weight. It's, what, >4,000lbs? Also, to address what you've stated in regards to the "sportiness", it'd be nice if the fusion had a more aggressive look and feel to it. Perhaps a more tighter suspension, a few inches lower, a REAL exhaust note (not an artificial exhaust note piped through the speakers), and a gear lever, not a rotary nob. However, all things considered, the car is amazing! I love it!

A definitely better rounded car, if not remotely able to match the performance of the Ford. You'd spend the same on a mid-spec A4 as a loaded Fusion Sport however; the equally fast Audi S4 will cost ~$15k more.

I think the Fusion is an ugly car in all trims. Not a fan. None of the American cars in that class are worth mentioning. This car is slow for the power and torque it has -- it's just barely quicker than the n/a 278hp FWD V6 Accord. It's still a Ford at the end of the day.

Agree cuz of Fords old AWD system and the Integral rear suspension which is made of pig steel in Fusion but out of Alloys in BMW,Audi,Mercedes, yes the rear suspension in Fusion is world class, only found in luxury cars

The fact the 2.7 Ecoboost V6 is derived from the F150 is both a blessing & curse; the engine block is of a compacted Graphite Iron which grants it high strength but at the cost of weight, and when placed over the front-axle of a family sedan which was never light to begin with plus the necessity of AWD to cope with 380lb/ft without torque-steer, this is the end result.

And the end result is pretty good, its no way bad See Ford needs to play smart here, they cant loose market evenin niece category against rivals like Accord V6,Camry v6 etc So this is a slightly sloppy but successful beginning, I think the 2.7 will get AL block and all need upgrades with time , say by 2018, so till then this still is a good choice, and rather easily1 of the best 2

No. Not even close. The Fusion Sport is AWD. None of those others are. They also don't even make even close to the amount of power. And finally, there is no Mazda6 2.0T. Only the CX-9 has a turbo engine. It's the only model from Mazda with a turbo engine. The Fusion Sport really has no competitors in its segment.

Did I say that? It's a feature that the car has that the others don't. It's a pretty big feature. To have all that power solely to the front wheels is kinda absurd. There's a reason for it. And people will see the AWD and decide that it can be driven in the winter with more control than the rest of the FWD cars. It's definitely a plus, and it's definitely needed on this car.

See if you can get one of those 2017 Mazda 6 with g vector control ; i drive a 2001 Nissan Maxima grey se v6 with 212.000 16 yeas old v6 4 speed auto with the overdrive on the shifter old school ..its been a great car no problems Getting ready for a major upgrade with all the new tech tom atl

I hate the way most manufacturers program their throttle curves. My cousin's WRX is a pain in the ass to drive with the hair-trigger throttle and rev hang. Plus, fuel mileage suffers regardless of how carefully you modulate your right foot.

Well, I got FFS full loaded for $35,500 (5k off sticker). SS and 392 Charger are definitely more power but they are more expensive and for full loaded it is about $50k at least. After all these are different class of cars and not to be compared (let alone FFS is AWD). I used to have ScatPack with 392 HEMI (then I got married lol) and it was faster and more badass but Fusion sport is not any slower in every day driving (highway merges and passing)

Tune that ecoboost and that thing will fly. The trucks do 12 second quarter miles with just a tune. AWD and less weight and I bet this thing would ROLL.

Won't be long before we see 500 hp stage 2 Fusion Sports out there. I bet a quick ECU flash tuned for 93 octane would probably yield around 400 hp (350 awhp). I really have no idea, I'm just guessing. Modern turbo's with DI are great platforms for tuning.
