2017 GMC Sierra 2500 Denali with L5P Duramax acceleration from a deadstop with traction control off. Rips 1st-3rd with the factory 265 tires. Coming from a tuned, deleted LBZ, this thing stock feels like I'm on tune 4 (100hp Performance/Economy/Unloaded tune). These trucks are rated at 445hp/910tq (crank) and it appears dyno runs are coming back around 400hp, 900tq to the wheels.

I just test drove the L5P and 2017 powerstroke back to back...L5P pulls sooooo much harder. L5P is the clear choice...no contest..

@@fordf150nation4 well then u sound like u dont no how to use them,bringing up how much they tow.in the real world my old 2500ado will tow 30,000 just not legally. But to say it like u is typical no experience Monday morning quarterback tryn 2 talk kool sounding..i had all three as race trucks,and my welding rigs.some 1 that has used them like I have no u talk!.thats why u sound like a typical city guy.sorry bud

@@ronmower3694 well I ain't no city boy let's make that clear born and raised in north Carolina on a small ranch well ford was the only truck I grew up around and that's what I have always depended on not saying I hate chevy or dodge both make nice looking trucks

Hell my L5p ccsb burns through 4 on dry pavement with the traction control ON, seriously... I've never seen any automatic anything do that! I love it, but it's a dragstrip wet dream with 10 sheets of drywall in the back!

What were the road conditions at the time of this video?

What-da-Heck ! I live in Massachusetts. At the time of the video the temperature was slightly above freezing, maybe 34-36 degrees F. The road was slightly uphill, maybe 1% grade. The road had definitely been sanded due to the snow about 4 days prior, but it was a fairly busy road so it was cleared for the most part. However, this definitely wasn't done on a hot, newly paved road, and while the L5P will rip the tires up from a dead stop, this video was just an impromptu "performance clip" after I saw such little information or videos on the L5P still. I just wanted to show the power of this new platform,/let people hear the motor and exhaust/see trans shift/have a little fun. The road was just an everyday New England service road where people drive about 45-50 . This is not an accurate representation of an optimal traction situation. I'm coming from 2007 LBZ with 305/50/r20s and these 265 tires just can't keep the torque in check.

Dan Kenny .... we definitely appreciate the video. I'm on the fence as to which brand to go with...Ford has great Tech (camera system)...and an available F450 model... Chevy has a great trans and ram has the in-line 6 design that is hard to beat. Still trying to figure out if owning a diesel with all of the emissions crap is worth the price premium / higher maintenance costs / and higher fuel costs. I run a gasser currently... 6.4 hemi ram... I tow on occasion...10,000lbs....the gasser gets it done with no drama. The truck was way cheaper and demands very little maintenance. Fuel costs are low too... but it's a pretty BORING truck.... Are you worried about the longevity of that diesel engine and emissions crap?

What-da-Heck ! By the time the emissions crap starts really becoming problematic, I just hope that it's near the end of my warranty and by then, I'll probably delete it or disable it via tuning. So many of the big name tuning companies are pushing for emissions compliant tunes, they already have LML twin kits that are emissions compliant etc...My buddy has a 2017 F-350 single wheel crew cab long bed powerstroke and I will say this. GM should take some fucking notes on vehicle creature comforts, namely the back seat. My previous truck was a 2007 Lt3 GMC Sierra Classic (old body style) CCSB LBZ Diesel. The back seat had drop down cup holders in the back of the console, heat/ac vents, radio controls, two headphone jacks, and I believe two DC outlets. Fast forward 10 years and My damn near $70,000 truck doesn't have rear vents, so you end up over compensating and making the driver and front passenger uncomfortable, the drop down cup holders were replaced with a small cubby, no radio controls, no headphone jacks.....so basically any rear passengers get to charge their phones...one at a time because that's all there is. End of the world? Nah, I'm not in the back. A pretty big let down on a top of the line truck with a sticker price of a small home? Yes.

I have owned them all, Literally today I am ordering my 2017 Chevy Duramax Dually. The biggest problem with the ford, if you have to do any work on the engine, the first thing it says for the technician to do is PULL THE CAB OFF. The Duramax has been strong and completely almost trouble free for years. Buy the Chevy. ITS A DODGE Need I say more.

Doug P I really just wish GM offered the heavy duty pickups with solid front axles (with a selectable locker would be awesome but a stretch) and for fucks sake can we get a manual option like the dodge g56 with a granny low gear and the option to just get some of that driving experience back. A lot of guys love rowing their own gears, especially when towing that control is just there (granted today's automatics are much more versatile with exhaust brakes, grade braking, tow haul, manual mode). I just wish we had the choice. I owned a 6.7 2007 Cummins Reg. Cab Long bed with the g56 with that 6.29 first gear and I could let the clutch out on a steep hill and the truck would crawl under its own power. Absolutely nutty. It went about 7 in first gear haha

Dan Evan. Coolant light at 20 miles, problem was obviously there before they released the truck, they immediately ordered another engine without explaining why, I felt that no one should be made to put up with crap like that but the dealer refused to replace the truck, said they would for another 35,000 bucks because this truck depreciated the minute it drove off their lot and there wouldn't be a 2017 truck available so an 18 was the only option. Now its been 2 months and they have come down a bit on replacement cost as we make more noise but its not fair, this piece of crap was broken before it even got sold to the dealership with 0 miles on it. GM has an engine replacement program on the 2017-18 duramax engines which just tells me this thing has problems. Only other engine this bad is the dodge eco diesel but it usually gets the new owner home once first. I checked service bulletins, at last count 171 on the 2017 GM hd, 21 or so on the 2017 ford super duty which is an all new truck. This truck actually belongs to my best friend who has been asking me to help him through this process, I feel they have taken advantage of what was a good customer.

lashbera That honestly just sounds like a piece of shit dealer. But this is what usually happens in that situation. Get the engine replaced....and the chances of it blowing again are slim to none. Out of the the thousands of happy L5P owners, there will always be a few who just get fucked from bad luck. You say that the 2017 Ford is a totally different truck, and that’s true...for the body and chassis. But the motor is just a 2016 tuned up. The L5P from the crank to the valve covers is a completely different platform and 2017 was its debut year. I’ve heard about some issues with coolant, but as of right now my truck has 23,000+ miles and it’s been flawless. I’d get the new engine and then demand incentives such as extending the 100k 5 year warranty to 150k/7year, and free service appointments for 50k miles. I’m really sorry to hear about your friend and I hope they make it right. That’s really shitty if they don’t accommodate you

Replacement engine was in for 2 weeks before warning lights came on, this time it showed no oil on the dipstick, no external leaks, low coolant light then came back on, now they are making him drive the truck and stop in regularly to check levels. Thing is, this truck was only bought because the 2010 he had was getting quite a few miles and was spending too much time in the repair shop, this isn't better. 80,000 bucks well waisted.
