Update video showing how the truck is doing with the ProCharger kit and the Circle D stall. 2017 Silverado 5.3 Double cab Z71 4x4. Mods ProCharger P1SC-1 10psi, Circle D 278mm 3200 converter, Klug Performance tune, and Black Widow 250 custom cat-back. Running e35.

Cool build. I just built a 700 rwhp gmc z71. Feels like a drag truck now. The street ride is kinda out the door. I started with a procharger. If you're looking for drive ability watch how much you put into the motor

@FluxRG even procharging will make it less practical. You will get 12 mpg max. Procharging a 5.3 alone isn't very impressive. If you have a 6.2 it may be worth it. That's why I tore down my entire engine to get the power I wanted. Stock trans had issues handling the power

Mann that truck sounds mean as hell!! I know Hennessy makes a supercharger for the 5.3 as well and in there videos that truck takes off as well. Been debating on what I wanna do with my 14 Sierra.

Have you thought about adding a cowl induction hood? That'll help keep your intake temps down based on it's location under the hood.

When I bought this truck in 2017 I would have never thought that one day it would have been supercharged. I worked a lot of overtime for the kit. Maybe someday you'll be able to do the same.

Where did you get that gauge display, and boost gauge? I have a 2011 Silverado 2500HD 4x4 with a 6.0 gas. And, I'm researching the pros/cons of a Pro Charger vs Twin screw to see which application is better for towing, in terms of which runs cooler..

Just depends what you are looking for. A ProCharger will give you good high end rpm power similar to a turbo. A Whipple for example will give you a lot of low end torque.

I had an Auto Meter mechanical boost gauge with an Auto Meter Dashlink displayed on a Samsung tablet. Then I switched to an Edge Insight CTS2 as a performance monitor with the mechanical boost gauge.

That is awesome man! Do you see good boost at 3-4 thousand rpm? I'm all in for a procharger and I read sumn last night about superchargers having boost all the time and prochargers only have it at 6000rpm... and one last thing, do you make over 500hp to the rear wheels???

It starts at about 5-6psi at 3800rpm and peaks to 10psi at 5800rpm. Great supercharger for a daily truck imo where your not constantly getting boost. I'm not sure how much power it is making to the wheels. I would love to dyno the truck to see what it's making. I know it went from the stock 15.21 down to 12.75 in the 1/4 mile :)

Damn from what I know I bet a custom tune would rock and roll compared to the hand held generic tune! I got a quote for a tune around Ohio where i'm from and they said 12-1500$! Anyway that's bad AF and I appreciate the reply. I was worried about the daily aspect of it and I think i'm in good shape as far as that goes. Keep that bad bitch rollin man!

@@kurtperdew2391 yeah this is with a custom Klug Performance tune. I wish I had the handheld tune that ProCharger offers with their kit just to see what the difference is custom versus handheld but I saved 800 dollars by not getting their tune. Would be cool to show the gains of what a custom tune gives you over a can tune. That is very expensive for a tune. I paid a lot less for mine. I would contact Klug Performance via Facebook and get a cost from him. Amazing tuner.

I'm in Cincinnati and a custom tune around here is 650-750 all day. I have a 14 turbo Silverado and paid 650 for my tuning.

@@natebait88 I know on a 14 Klug charges 250 on the 17+ it is 450 which is due to needing 4 credits for the 17+ versus just needing 2 credits for the older vehicles.

That is the Dashlink app on my Samsung tablet for the Dashlink from Autometer. It is 150 dollars and then you can download the app for free and use it on your phone or tablet.

That would be nice but cash will be shifting to something else in my life. I'd do headers as my next mod and then go with a cam. The joy of being an adult and having to put the truck on the back burner for now.

I did not. This is ProCharger’s default kit designed to work with the stock 5.3 no upgrades needed to the motor, transmission, or fuel system. The kit I got was the tuner kit so it didn’t come with a tune from ProCharger but they offer that as well.

If you already have a custom tune you can get the tuner kit for 5400, and the Circle D converter is 600. 6k for both.

@@victorvelazquez681 nice. I'd get ahold of him and just make sure he would he able to tune it for you if you get the ProCharger tuner kit. Then you should be good to go with that. Now if you just went with the ProCharger kit that would be good as well. The converter is a nice combo but you don't need to have it.

I really don't do either. The closest I've come to off-roading is we did get 6 inches of wet heavy snow last month and it did great in that. I just had it in 4 auto and it got around great in it. Stayed out of boost so no wheel spin and the converter was fine as well keeping it at lower rpm. I do have a buddy that has an cammed 5.3 with the same stall and he pulls a 20ft fishing boat with his and it does great.

It's a magnetic tablet and cell phone mount I got from Best Buy. I did have to reinforce it a little because when it's warm out the tablet weight it a bit much for the double sided tape it comes with.

It is the 3200, however with the extra power of the ProCharger it does balloon to 3800.

I've got a 2017 Sierra 5.3 with the 8-speed, what are your thought on a procharger setup for me vs a Whipple? I'll be doing a 2.5in lift and 33s here soon but I probably won't go huge lift or anything anytime in the near future. It's my daily and I don't really ever tow anything right now

I think with the bigger tires and lift even not towing you’ll really like the extra low end torque of the Whipple vs the ProCharger.

None. The kit I got was designed to go on a stock truck with no other mods. I did get the tuner kit which means I needed a custom tune which I already had. If you get the complete kit it comes with a hand held tuner with the ProCharger tune on it for your vehicle.

I was looking to buy GM at4 after research on 5.3 O need to spend 10k to get 100hp more and on F150 ecoboost I need just tuner and intake lass then 1k and get 100 whp I Im thinking Fuk old v8 technology is going wild pbly will pick up f150 next week Good video bro like.

The 3.5 EcoBoost and 2.7 EcoBoost with just a tune are pretty good. Buddy with a 2018 F150 extended cab 4x4 3.5 EcoBoost with a tune, downpipes, running 50% ethanol, all terrain tires, and full street weight went 11.99 in the 1/4 mile.

Thank you for the sub! Truck has been doing good. Being winter here in Michigan have not been on it to much. Kit is doing well in the cold temps and conditions. Truck drives just like the kit is not there in the snow.

@@erick5598 Thanks and ya i thought that was the way to go for a clean look. The p1 is holding up great so far. It makes 571 whp on 6psi with the stage 2 intercooler.

@@boostedfiveoh I'd recommend the ProCharger kit on the truck. Great for a daily truck. I definitely want to get my truck on the dyno to see what it's making to the wheels. Right now on e35 truck is making 600hp/550tq at the crank.

On 93 the truck was getting 18 city/22 hwy 93 tune only. With the stall and ProCharger on e30 I get 16 city and 20 hwy.

It was very fun as a daily. The price of the ProCharger is up there for sure and you could go with a very nice full bolt on setup with a good daily cam and save some money. The right cam you could daily it just as well.

Yes this is the kit that goes directly on the 2014+ GM trucks and SUVs with the 5.3 You can get it with a ProCharger tune or go with a custom tune.

I know this was a long time ago but did you ever have trans torque management removed on the upshifts? It doesn't sound like it but I'm curious...the part throttle shifts sound quicker.

My tune it was reduced. I was still at 50% torque management on the shifts. The person who tuned it was really good at keeping torque management but still having faster shift speeds.

@@erick5598 I’ve got a 2014 I’ve been playing with. In HPTuners I reduced my up shift timing by 25% in all gears and it made a big difference. Does the truck lurch or jump when it shifts? In mine you can feel it kind of kick into the next gear and I’m not a big fan of that.

I never had the chance to get it on a dyno but the truck via HP Tuners was making 650hp/605tq at the crank. So around 515 hp at the wheel.

Nope. Should be good up till 110. I took to 130 a couple times no issues. I wouldn't recommend that though lol.

With the ProCharger and the stall I get 17mpg in the city and 22mpg on the highway. I have had active fuel management disabled since I first tuned the truck at 250 miles. The complete kit comes with a tuner from ProCharger with their preloaded tune. If you get the tuner kit you would need a custom tune.

Nice setup, looking at something similar- do you have any 0-60 times? I hoped to be sub 6 seconds- as a former Grand National owner really lust for that 0-60 acceleration in my Silverado

Stock the truck did a 6.7 0-60, e85 tune only truck did 5.4, and with the current setup ProCharger, stall and tune running e35 my best 0-60 was 3.8 All of those 0-60 times are via the HP Tuners data logs.

JC I owned 11 different GN and turbo regals over the years......drove a low 11 second car as a daily for 3 years.......cost of wife and step kids forced me to sell my last one it 2006. Sure do miss those cars.....a blast to drive. Wish I still had my white 87 Turbo T with black out trim package......not the fastest but my most favorite since it had badging removed and was a real sleeper if you did not know what the hood bulge and split front air dam meant.....lol. I have an old 2001 4x4 silverado with stock (tuned) 5.3 that I am hoping to either turbo charge or put a mild 6.0 into. At this point it will take hitting the lottery to ever play with Grand Nationals again like I used to......lol.

Mine on summer days have always been 180s-200. I took it to the dealer the first summer I had it and they told me with it running through the radiator engine coolant temps are normal for trans temps now as well. As long as it was not higher than 215 it was normal. 😐 The highest I've seen on a hot summer day after some back to back wot passes was 201. I guess the thermostat or valve that opens to flow the transmission fluid through the trans cooler portion of the radiator won't open till 190. A lot of guys now will get an aftermarket cooler and route the transmission lines through one of those on these newer trucks.

@@JosephNnbs mine is the 6 speed. I think the 2014+ trucks they eliminated the separate trans cooler and integrated it into the radiator itself.

Yes the torque management was changed. Before the supercharger I was at 35% and with the supercharger we raised it to 50% for driveability.

@@erick5598 Thanks for the info. I just installed a enforce 2650 and when it shifts at wot it feels like the key is turned off for a second, the torque management is so strong with their tune. Looks like it’s time for a custom tune!

@@davidkepics1644 Just keep in mind the less TM you have the more power that is going to the trans and could cause damage. 45% was a sweet spot for my truck with the Procharger and the aftermarket converter.

27k on the truck about 10k with the kit. No issues so far. The unit it self because I have the straight cut gears has a growl at low rpms but I knew it would be that way when I got the kit with those gears. Other than that it's been great.

@@MrAbel1313 with any aftermarket mod you definitely have those risks especially when adding this much power over stock. I think the 5.3 is a very strong motor and ProCharger makes a great kit.

I have a 99 silverado with the 5.3 and been thinking about putting boost in it once I get some things taken care of. Only thing is I'm not sure what I should do, a super or a turbo? From what I understand supers make more low end power and are a bit easier to install, but more expensive. Turbos produce more power at the higher end and are a bit cheaper, but require more work to install. If you had to, which would you choose?

I do really like my ProCharger and being that is the only power adder I've personally owned it's hard to give a good answer. I love my ProCharger but even with not going over 10psi peak boost a turbo will be more officiant because with a supercharger it takes engine power to use it where a turbo is using exhaust gas to make power. I would love to try a turbo next to see how I like that vs a supercharger. Which means my next vehicle will be a factory turbo car/truck.

It is because the way I have the truck tuned. When tow/haul mode is off it has the stock shift points. When tow/haul mode is on the shift points are set to 6200 rpm.

@@cesarduranbenitez5126 yes it would. The ProCharger, and converter would void the warranty. Depending on the dealership the tune could void the warranty as well. Pretty much all you can do with a warranty is a cold air intake and a cat-back exhaust.

Do you have an aftermarket trans cooler? I’m not boosted but i have the same stall as you with a cam and after about 2-3 pulls my temps go up to about 210. I’m looking to keep it below 200.

Jesse Munoz I'm still using the factory trans cooler. I know some guys went with a 180 thermostat and noticed cooler trans temps as well being the trans cooler is integrated into the radiator.

You can also flip the thermostat internals to disable it. I did it to mine and I run about 130-150 regularly.

I can't speak for ProCharger's tune but I had the cylinder deactivation turned off in the tune itself. I believe ProCharger does it as well with their tune for the kit. No issues and no oil consumption issue as well.

No you should not drive it. If it does even idle or run with the kit on it you need to have a tune for the supercharger. If you drive it without a tune for the supercharger you can and most likely will damage your motor.

@@noahsheehan6295 if your kit comes with the tune for your truck from Whipple than yes you will be ok. When you go to install the kit in the instructions it will tell you to download your tune to your truck. Now the only time the tune that comes with the supercharger kit will not work is if you already have mods done to your truck. Like headers, or a cam, or any other mods that need a tune as well. Then you would just have your tuner make you another for the supercharger as well.

@@noahsheehan6295 as long as you buy the Whipple kit for your truck that comes with the tune from Whipple you will be fine. I just wanted to make sure you were not getting their cheaper kit that doesn't come with a tune and drive it with the stock tune. The Whipple tune will be just fine till you find a good custom tune. Obviously I'd recommend Klug Performance for your custom tune.

It comes down to what your looking for. With a stock motor you'll be limited by all three with the amount of boost. Now the turbo will have the least parasitic loss out of the three and I think would make the most power. You'll possibly have turbo lag. A ProCharger had less parasitic loss than say a MagnaCharger but will start at 5psi at 3500 and peak at 10psi at 5500rpm. A MagnaCharger will start at 7psi at 2800 rpm and stay at that psi till 5300rpm and then will drop off slightly. I think all three are great. Just comes down to supporting mods and preference. I love my ProCharger but hard to beat a turbo setup.

@@sinuemedina2550 did the sound start afte you installed the K&N intake? If so I would put the stock intake back on and see if that noise goes away. If the noise is still there after the stock intake is on I would definitely have the dealership look at it being so new.

Converter must not be locked. Temp should be around 145-165 at cruise. 190's when it's hot + stop/go city driving and converter unlocked.

Jake Wiederhold I got the kit for 4500 and took about 2 days for me and my buddy to put it together. The piping is the hardest part and my buddy did all that because he likes running piping.

I would say the same. I was getting 17 city and 22 highway before the mods. Right now I get 16 city and 22 highway. I unfortunately don't know how just the ProCharger kit would effect a 5.3 truck mpg wise being the converter was installed before the supercharger.

@@isidrosevier1125 I still have it. It's a nice performance monitor for the price if you already have a tablet. If I had to do it again I'd get the Edge insight cts2. Being the Dashlink is bluetooth there is some dely. About a second. Not worth it as a data logger. After having HP Tuners. Like I said for only 150 dollars if you already have a tablet. If not just get the Edge Insight CTS2 or HP Tuners.

@@isidrosevier1125 I had the MPVI2 it's nice and a lot less cables and works great except for the bluetooth. I sold mine a couple months ago. Unless they have had updates for it I'd just connect it via the OBD2.
