Hows the transmission holding up?

@@jadedjay7861 I have flushed transmission twice, no more shutter, it has been 12k since the turbos. Just can’t punch it. Only roll into it. At first ran out money to rebuild transmission, but now that I have money don’t have the time. The shop is booked up.

Who were you going to take your transmission to? I am in San Antonio area and want to build mine before I put more money into my motor.

@@mingomtzjr6651 going to take it back to Steven (LMR) but they are booked. And now I don’t have the cash. But when I do have the cash, will be going to LMR.

got it back, very happy. Just got to make sure when I go to 13 PSI of boost, to be using MS-109 race gas.

Shane, Are you running that on the 6.2 or 5.3? With stock internals? What numbers are you seeing if you don't mind me asking?

@@408_miguel_4 yes the kit will fit on both the 6.2 and 5.3's.

I have a 6.2 Litre. Transmission is 8L90. Had that “shutter” but after flushing the transmission via the GM memo and using a different type of transmission oil, no longer seeing the shutter. Initial transmission oil change was in August, mileage was 72 K, changed the oil again in first week of January, even though the shutter did not come back, I still went ahead and charged transmission oil again, mileage is 84K. From a dig, the transmission does not like the 600 horsepower at the wheels, transmission won’t shift for about half a second. But when I roll into the power gradually, the transmission shifts correctly. My boost is 7 PSI. The truck wants to keep on going but I left off the gas, scared the drive shaft will come apart. Motor has no problem providing the power, just have to get new torque converter, transmission re-built, drive shaft, differential and axles.

Yes, looking into TK for rebuilding transmission, as long as I keep it 7 psi of boost, I’ll be ok. But I want to turn up the boost. Just gotta wait until a time slot opens up.

Would probably need a stand-alone ecu to go from an 8l90 to a 4l80

6l80 is fine.

I had a magnuson 2300, the turbos are much better.

I had a lifter damage the cam, cam damaged main bearings, thus motor had to be taken out and sent to LME for a rebuild. So I am still not able to get new drive shaft and rebuild transmission. Couple of more years, should save up for drive train rebuild. But for now, it is hard not to stomp on it.

Just sold my 2012 Silverado with 6L80, had 196k miles on it and never gave me a moments trouble.

198k HARD miles on my BTR Stage 4 cammed FBO 2017 Tahoe PPV. 6L80E bone stock, the PPV does have more coolers but thats it. 412hp/381tq for the last 15k or so. Trans has been great. A lot of the issues can be remedied through the TCU. The 6L80 and 10L80/10R80 are another different animal just like DI compared to what all the Tuners are used to. They're plenty capable just not Ll tuners are up to it yet.

36,000 miles, transmission is still ok. Have changed fluids every 10,000 miles. Won’t have money for drivetrain until 2025.

Its a 2017 so its a 8l90 all 6.2s came with the 8 speed starting in the 2015 year models.

Engine sounds good. Have stainless works x-pipe and dual mufflers. Got them when I had 2.3 Litre magnuson, which was five years ago. I’m happy the exhaust is still holding up. Now, that I say something, it will probably crack.
