This video is two years but I want to thank you a lots for this video. I followed exactly what you did and long behold that was the issue. For the life of me I couldn’t figure out the u code. Thank you!!!!
Thank you so much for this! I had the exact same symptoms on my 2015 and your troubleshooting steps allowed me to find the problem myself. In my case I had a damaged wire that had corroded to green dust near the transmission connector. Spliced it back together with a weather sealed butt splice connector and all is well! You have no idea how much I celebrated when I got the truck to crank again by running power directly to the pin for the bad wire. Even though the problem wasn't fixed yet, I knew I _could_ fix it at that point.
The same testing procedure can be used on the ECM and other modules. You did a great job explaining everything and showing the right way to test using the back probes.
Very good point you made about the TCM not being listed as a communications fault showing that it is unavailable to communicate. Very good observation. Glad I found your Diagnostic Channel
Excellent video. Great explanation. I am getting the same error code (U0101) on a Kia Reo (2009) 1.4 Litre. The vehicle is starting fine. However, while driving the vehicle would go in a limp mode and the transmission cannot shift properly. I am unable to connect to the ECM & TCM with my scanner when the vehicle is in Limp Mode. When the engine cools down for about 1/2 hour, I can then connect to the ECM & PCM with the scanner.
Kenny Doolarchan it sounds like you have a failing ECM, since it's not communicating when the engine gets hot but it communicates when the engine cools down, right? you should have a pro mechanic diagnose it for you!
Usman The Mechanic yeah a short to ground on that wire would blow the fuse!! Part 2 of this video will be out soon, I'm sure you will enjoy it! stay tuned bro
This is happening to my 2014 RAM 1500, but after a couple of hours it turns back on, mechanic told me that i need a new TCM! MY QUESTION IS, IF I DO HAVE AN OPEN CIRCUIT, IS IT NORMAL FOR MY RAM TO TURN BACK ON AFTER A COUPLE OF HOURS? This happens to me every time I use my truck for 30 min or more! Hating my truck right about now! Thanks
@martinherrera3859 My Pleasure! No, it sounds like your problem might be the Module itself and I hope they checked the wiring, an Open would the truck to not start!
I have the same truck it starts and everything runs n drives gives the same code but it acts like it does not want to go at throttle but if you you hit the gas down at 20% it will go smoother
What was the conclusion? I have the same problem but I do not have any power in either wire at the TCM, or harness. I do have power in the fuse panel though and the fuse is good.. is it the Body control module?
Patrick Kenny this video has two parts, when you watch part 2 of this video, you will know what the fix was! in your case if the fuse is good and you don't have power at the TCM then your problem is probably an open in the wire!
thank you very much. any help ,use test light to check the ground if the ground wire is broken, will it be positive directly to tcm, will it cause damage to tcm? I am from Vietnam, I am a student.
@@KITS_Auto_and_Truck_Repair No , they replaced the connector thinking that was the issue . Now they want to take apart the trans which im thinking they think im dumb bc they don’t know what to do & the trans is completely new , and this is all at the dodge dealer .
this is a prime example of to much tech. old days had a lever with a rod and a neutral safety switch manual connection didn't need pcm trouble free operation. i understand all the electronics changed that
I wish I was near you i'd pay you NO PROBLEM! I have a 2005 navigator and last week I went into limp mode and my transmission won't shift and i'm in NO CRANK NO START MODE with U 0101 and multiple CAN codes hell! my ABS and advancetrac light is on now and i'm throwing a code from damn near every sensor in my truck O2 sensors, MAF, crank sensors and EVAP sensors all of this happened at the same time and the dash said check electric throttle i' not a mechanic I limped home and bought a new throttle body and had someone put it on in my driveway since I got a transmission code I took it to a transmission shop and the guy had the truck 2 days and is saying he can't tell me anything yet he's a transmission shop and have the code the dude has a racist attitude ANY SUGGESTIONS MY BROTHA? I NEED HELP I was thinking of having it towed to an electrical shop tomorrow every shop I called and told them the truck and code they are all afraid of the code and my truck WHAT SHOULD I DO?
jeff Watson I'm sorry to hear about what you're going through, those codes can be caused by a couple of things, so I cannot tell exactly what your car needs... so I recommend taking it to a pro mechanic shop to have it diagnosed!!
Water in the fuse panel or harness rubbed open .. feel behind the intake manifold between the engine and the firewall. On that era Ford theres a main harness wrapped in black loom that goes down the back of the engine and onto the transmission, 02 sensors, etc.. I've seen them rub raw on the edge of the bell housing at the one exact spot that's difficult to see from either direction. Looking down the engine or up from the tranny it's just the one little spot that's not visible.. if the fuse box is dry chances are that's your culprit.
