In this video, I'll show you how to remove and install the fairings on the 2017/2018 Ninja 1000 / Z1000SX. This is a critical step for some of my other videos, and may be necessary for certain service and modifications to the bike.

Ram into some dramas trying to fit a radiator guard onto my 2020 Ninja 1000SX today. Tried to follow the instructions given but from the get go they didn’t make sense. After a while of fiddling and getting frustrated, I found this video and wow! Cannot thank you enough for putting together such a well explained and illustrated video. After watching this, I’d stripped the left fairing, installed the radiator guard and reassembled in less than an hour. For those wondering, yes the fairing construction and fitment is exactly the same on the Ninja 1000SX.

Hi Jonathan,have enjoyed watching your videos,I have a 2018 z1000sx in emerald blaze green,had the bike since march and I absolutely love it,on the subject of the fairing,I noticed a hair line crack next to the indicator on the right side,dealer checking it tomorrow,so hopefully its covered by the warranty,as l didn't damage it,looks like a stress fracture,possibly caused by vibration,keep up the good work! Ride safe

It sure would be nice if companies like the bike manufacturers themselves, or the companies that make the thousands of after market parts that force you to deal with things like the fairing removals to put on their parts, would make videos as good as yours. In fact, they should give you a commission really. I got some no cut frame sliders for which I'll be using your video for sure. And the instrucions that came with them..., I mean, what instructions? Anyway, thanks so much for your diligent and well crafted videos. Being a fellow Ninja 1000SX owner, I use them all the time for learning things and assisting me in doing things I just know would end up causing lots of grief. Nothing greater than having a plug beside the bike for the old laptop. lol
@Truthasvictim
@Truthasvictim 4 года назад
I was putting in so called no cut frame sliders by Hot Bodies today. The right side I only needed to take off the bottom piece, but left, not take the whole fairing off, but do 3/4 of your video- while my Dell laptop sat dutifully on the chair beside myself and bike, lol- enough to loosen the largest part of the fairing to get access to the bolt that's replaced by their own bolt. Maybe it was me, but there was no way I could see that you could ever get the large piece to hook back on to the frame at the extreme top right, the tiny clip. So I took the slider and where the slider made contact with the fairing, made a notch about 3/8ths wide and 3/8ths deep to enable me to be able to get it clipped back on. It worked, but it was very tight. The only thing I could think of was that perhaps Kawasaki changed the fariing slightly between 17 and 19. www.hotbodiesracing.com/product/ninja-1000-2011-17-no-cut-frame-sliders/

Your videos are amazing man. Very helpful. I wonder if you could make a how to video of how to remove the kickstand on the Ninja1000. I tried mine (2019) and no luck. I can remove the whole thing, the two bolts, but can't disconnect the sensor, and I've tried the big bolt for the kickstand, and it doesn't move at all. Please and thank you.
