I wonder why this game has such few fans compared to the other Pokemon games, it's so detailed and it's just a fun game to play. Sure, it might be harder than the main games but it's so good. Hopefully this game gets the larger fanbase it deserves.
Yeah it's such a good game but maybe it's because it only focuses on battle aspect rather than story maybe they should've found a common ground between this and original games
@@cocoduck7745 Your right, maybe they should have a main storyline. The story of Pokemon got me into the game in the first place so I don't so I don't know how I couldn't get that.
DUDEEEE everytime Thanksalot hit a Leafstorm was so hype. Also the commentator were so good, when Sceptile was combo'ing the shit out of Gengar ''THIS MAN IS PLANTING A GARDEN'' LMAO 27:40 that was the highlight for me. Never played this game but I'm glad yt recommended to me.
Graphics like these would've been a possibility if it wasn't for a crack studio like Gamefreak that is in charge of developing game. Gamereak's graphics and animations still looks like GBA/N64 era.
It's not Tekken's fault that some people can't control their behavior and were raised all wrong, it depends on the person. You give a controller to a whiny little man child, what do you think will happen when they lose? Same thing applies with any game.
@@UltimateShadow10 Some communities have larger scenes and much more civilised audiences. Largely, fighting game tourneys are extreme hype but thats the charm at timez
I CAN'T BELIEVE THIS VIDEO HIT A MILLION VIEWS! It was especially convenient since it happened near the end of Treecko Day! Just want to say thanks to everyone for the support, and I'm glad Pokkén is still alive!
@@renatoramos8834 _"HuRR DuRR, TaRuTaRo WiN MoaR GaeMS So He SHuD GeT Da TRoPHee, GuH-HYuCK!"_ Sit your ass down, imma explain to you how a Double-Elimination tournament works. Simply put, if you lose one set in Double Elim, you fall down from Winner's Bracket to Loser's Bracket. If you lose a second set, you're knocked out. Think of it as having two lives. Thanksalot was undefeated prior to Grand Finals, so he still had both of his lives intact. Tarutaro only had one life. That's why Thanksalot wasn't immediately knocked out when he lost the first set against Tarutaro; he EARNED the right to have a second chance. Thanksalot then won the second set, thus knocking out Tarutaro and winning the tournament. It's not "BS" as you put it, it's fair. Stop screeching just because your homie Tarutaro didn't win.
It really is not fair though, assuming all players play at their one exact skill level whole championship, meaning yes tarutaro might have been a life down, but thanksalot didnt earn that, tarutaro's stronger bracket opponents are to thank, i really dislike this bullshit like yo, I beat you like 5 times and you beat me 3 times so clearly you are the better player. Like why should any past matches even count, its right here right now. Inb4 "tarutaros fanboi" Literally first time I have seen a pokken match
I still believe this may be the best Pokken Tournament set to ever be played. Back and forth the entire time, very fun to watch and immensely impressive how well fought this battle was.
I’ve loved Pokémon since I can remember and I never heard of this game coming out. Wow they need to make more Pokémon games like this. It looks like a real battle similar to the show. I love it
I can not understand guy like you lol you compare one "vs" fighting game with one Jrpg !?... for said that on a fan service casual game very smart comment dude...
Nicolas Kazama Not bashing on you or anything, just being honest. I only understood half of that but I got the jist of what you were saying. I think the guy you’re arguing with is just saying that watching two pokemon fight it out in a more “anime based” style is more exciting to watch than traditional turn based platforms. Ngl, I enjoy traditional turn based pokemon over this due to the raw strategy and intelligence required to be REALLY good at it, but Pokken Tournament is CLEARLY cooler to watch in real time just because it’s like “WOW! A pokemon fighting game! That’s cool!” vs people like you and I who enjoy, appreciate, and love the traditional turn based system of pokemon. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinion I guess, so you really didn’t have to go off on him like that
@@NotGord this is a late response but the game had nearly no marketing compared to other Pokémon games after its initial release and it was only available in Japan for a year when it first came out unlike other Pokémon games and it has not gotten a true sequel
This might be my favorite set of Pokken to date. The players, the commentators, the reverse 6-0, the atmosphere, all of it came together and made this such an intense fight to watch live. HUGE congrats to Thankswalot for being Pokken's first US World Champion! \o/
Game 6 round 2... on the verge of getting 6-0ed, thanksalot is just losing and would’ve lost by timeout, but the grab hit with 0.01 seconds remaining, winning him the round and the game, leading to the comeback. Insane. He was .01 seconds from losing (but no one ever talks about this...)
Wii U and Switch. The Switch version has exclusive characters, including characters that were previously exclusive to the arcade version. Speaking of, if you can FIND a Pokken arcade cabinet, it's worth killing a few quarters on.
I really don't think the pro controller is necessary at all. You could justify it if you need a second controller to play the game with, but the stock Switch controller still works just fine.
This is probably my favourite Pokken Worlds Championship in Pokemon Worlds so far. The games and sets are incredible, so many high intense actions and close games as well as comebacks. Congrats to our Winner and second place competitor, We hope to see you guys again next year. Speaking of next year; I do hope Pokken keeps on going to be this amazing exciting fighting game even after Smash Ultimate is release as well as that there should be hope for adding new characters, assists, stages, and extra content offline and online via DLC/Update, To keep the game fresh and to extend its lifespan for years to come. Pokken Tournament DX is one of the more underrated fighting games for sure right now that there are still people out there who still dont even know this game or that this game exist and I still find it weird the it didn't get a second run at EVO on the main stage. Lets hope all the best for Pokken Tournament DX and its future casually and competitively and I hope to see more of this in Pokemon Worlds as well.
These characters take a lot of time and effort to create and balance as each character has their own unique play style. If Pokken continues to be updated, it’ll be a long ways away from getting 50 but every new character adds something original and well-executed
Watching this game made me want to come back to pokken tournament! I broke one of my joycons and my controller was drifting, so I stuck a piece of paper in the left stick, wiggled it around furiously and it fixed the drift a bit- it still drifts a tiny bit occasionally but I fix it by wiggling it around furiously again, and now I am starting to get back into it. We need another pokken tournament!
It can't be helped because since it only available for Wii U in the past. Now that it available for handheld console like Switch, it will become popular.
@@azurecrow7055 it honestly had its moment in the sun on the Wii U. I remember the hype behind it. The issue was overtime it wasnt seen as a true fighting game or something Pokémon fans would play more than the traditional games. A Shame
Tarutaro really looked dominant through resetting the bracket. What intestinal fortitude by ThanksALot to hang in there and pull out the clutch at the end!
I'm a full year late, but I agree, Empoleon's extended hitboxes were really great for catching Gengar out of i-frames, and his projectiles were perfect for controlling Gengar in the air. However in order for Empoleon to win he has to get some pretty big reads, I think in the end it's easier for the Gengar to predict the Empoleon than vice versa. So In the end going back to Sceptile to challenge as many reads as possible - because the more potential interactions with Gengar, the more opportunities you have to start a big combo on him and control his movement - and as we could see, Sceptile had more than enough mixups to screw with the Gengar once Thanksalot adapted. It also seemed like the Gengar started getting a bit flustered in the way he was playing towards the end.
That was pretty epic. USA actually winning was not even as good a story line as just how epic that battle was. Every round was so good. Tarutaro looked less aggressive near the end. That momentum shift though.
ThanksALot, if you read this, I want to say, "Congratulations!" And Tarutaro, awesome Gengar plays. You both did very excellent for both your countries. I may be American, but I'm proud to see the best of both of you go hand and hand to each other. I play Blastoise a lot, but I understand that you both worked really hard on your Pokémon. It paid off indescribably. Keep on playing!
This was pretty amazing! ThanksAlot's Sceptile is really smooth. TARUTARO's Gengar was scary efficient. But I think TARU just got stuck on getting to his bread and butter combos. Sceptile was a lot more dynamic and adapted to the fight as it went on. Scary though since TARU almost won. ThanksAlot's Empoleon was amazing too. It seemed like the perfect answer to permeate, even moreso than simply carrying Emolga! Gengar just has a lot more options phazing through everything. On top of that Most of us North Americans don't seem to bother to get to know Gengar either like they said earlier. Most Japanese players also practice their one strategy to near flawless levels, though at the cost of adaptability. Still though, it was amazing watching this. Especially knowing how it all works. It makes me want to return to Sceptile again. MInd you I just play online so it's hard trying to be as precise as these fellows. I love Pokemon and watching fighting games, so this has me pretty darn excited. Sorry if I sound really cheesy.
I wish I can land gengar attacks like him. The distance the input the dodge~ gengar doesn’t have a lot of viable moves but he moves like shadow... Gengar almost won~ so sad it got read after so many games.
@Xyeoxys Games The last patch may have deterred that this time around. Some Pokemon like Aegislah and Darkrai got nerfed so they weren't as effective to play. On the flip side it's easy to do damage with Braixen and Lucario so people don't venture out of what works. I wish for more variety too but I'm not all that competitive. I'm sure I would feel different otherwise.
Hey, can you explain me why Tarutaro lost while he came from: 13 battles/5wins to 17 battles/9wins (so 4 wins in a row) from the start of the match to 23:42?
I remember Pokken getting a very lukewarm reception when it came out, I'm not really sure why. I don't play either game, but I'm enjoying watching this more than Street Fighter 5.
I just learned of this game's existence with this video and it felt just like watching episode 1 of Pokémon when Ash watches the Nidorino vs Gengar fight.
I never played pokken or tekken, but RU-vid recommended to me. I turned this on just for a killing time, and when the game was over with Thanksalot's reverse sweep, I could see myself cheering with an excitement.
I live 5 min from oak forest. Pretty dope to see someone from this area at this level. Have a friend who lives near ninja too about 45 min from me and nadeshot went to highschool a town over from here, so I guess this is a hotspot for pro gamers lol.
