The new M2 Competition is a better car than its M2 predecessor, though not through any one component, including the new engine. Rather, it’s the sum of each and every component added and tweak made to the chassis itself that has produced a more precise, if not quicker, M-Car than that which it replaces.
In the end, it's still the best M-Car under $150K that BMW builds.

BMW didn’t put more power to please the customers. They didn’t have any other engines to fit in that car to meet new regulations so they just fit a detuned m3 engine

Does the Aussie M2C not have the particulate fuel filter? I’ve heard that the sound in the Aussie model is better than the euro model due to no PFF.

Why not take the B58 with simular mods like they’ve done on the N55 BMW M2 engine. S55 Crank, pistons, drysump. Would have made more sense. Also less depreciation for M2, M2 lci owners. That said i think the S55 is the one to have. More responsive. Personally soundwise, i’m not set particularlly on either one of them. To me both sound good.

That M2 had quite a lot of carbon parts added. Never seen those before installed on any press car. Great car!

@@RRSmurf They are genuine. They are M performance parts. Hood, roof, front fenders, side skirts, carbon bootlid or the entire boot made of carbon with integrated spoiler, diffuser and mirror caps and front spoiler lip. All carbon parts. There's also a coil over package, essentially H&R kit. All can be fitted by dealers. I don't want to think about what they cost.

I have an F80 M3 Competition. Had an ECU tune +50hp, +100Nm (495hp, 650Nm) for $2,000 and it's a monster. Fantastic car to cruise around or hit a few buttons and take to the track. Very fast and surprisingly capable on track in stock form (uprated pads and fluid only). An M2 Competition with the same mods would be an awesome car for $100k.

Are you getting 495 to the wheels just curious I have a e92 n54 with tune water methanol injection with 407whp

No it's otherwise standard so just a $2k ECU tune to liven it up. So it has about 495hp at the flywheel. I assume low 400s to the wheels. Lots more potential for substantially more power if you replace various bits of hardware etc

@@dougm1711 That is still AWESOME one day I will be able to get a f80 m3 but im still happy with my 335i n54 it's a bit of a sleeper..

Bmw didn’t go and created M2 competition because it cares about us, it did because the old engine could not pass 2018 additional particle filter smog recertification .

since the absolute majority of buyers will never track these vehicles, youre better off with a used f10 m5 4 years old, lightly used, a 1/3 rd of the price of this m2, a more impressive v8 engine that feels transcendent, much more space in boot and for passengers, and if you get the competition package m5, performance thats equal to the f90 m5.

Why won't they let you review the car by yourself... Not with a salesman.... Nice car btw.. That's the best red I've seen on a BMW. But I still think they should've went with the B58 engine out of the M140i... it's tunable, strong and sounds much much better than the M3 M4 engine..

With such a aesthetically beautiful look M2, how on earth did the BMW designers/engineers get the rear of this car so wrong???....Just look at the rear and you will see what I mean, even if you aren't a motoring purist, you should notice the ugly metallic exhaust muffler hanging down from the rear of the car. There is an aftermarket performance parts manufacturer in the UK called Remus (their company is also situated in Melbourne) that manufacturers a brilliant replacement muffler exhaust system for M2's. Their muffler sits discreetly underneath the rear of the M2 (completely hidden from view) with only the 4 x tips showing from the rear. The muffler also provides a nicer exhaust tone. So why couldn't BMW achieve this????......obviously it was too much of a challenge for their engineers to develop this simple fix? At the very least, they should have painted the muffler in a matt black colour to musk the ugliness of this part.

Muffler is part of the aerodynamics. Should be black yes

RealOrbit - Australia I’m no vehicle engineer, but are you serious about the “low slung muffler being an aerodynamic feature”???? I think not. This muffler would not provide any down force for the rear of this M2, so I’m intrigued to know why you perceive this muffler location, to have any significant aerodynamic qualities?

@@shanebagnall1979 because that's what I've discovered when I looked into it. It's made like that on purpose for aero. I think it was a savagegeese video that went into it in detail where he does he under the car segment. I think it looks like a huge ballbag...in a good way
