Smoking exhaust and excessive oil consumption led me to replace this PCV valve on the 2019 NISSAN Pathfinder
Here is what you need to do this job, I get small commissions on purchased through these links, thank you:
PCV Valve: amzn.to/3Q28SnZ
Small pliers: amzn.to/48WdZyB

what engine is this? is it the V35DD engine? I'm having the same problem on my 2020 Pathfinder we took it to get serviced but it looks like we might need a new engine.
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 6 месяцев назад
I don’t know the whole engine code. But this car is getting a new engine right now. There’s a LOT of oil blowing by the piston rings apparently. This PCV valve did not help us after all. This car only has about 65k miles on it.
@MarquezDaniel

@@JoesCarSmartsNY yeah mine is at 58,000 miles and I did some research and apparently this is a common issue with these Pathfinders. Nissan won't honor the warranty because it falls under the category of "negligence" so I'm kinda screwed. Do you know how to find the engine code? I'm pretty sure I have the V35DD engine
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 6 месяцев назад
@@MarquezDaniel From a quick search the VQ35DD makes sense. As for negligence, that’s crap. The car in this video had regular synthetic oil changes…doesn’t seem to matter. Have you escalated your concerns to Nissan Corporate yet? Sometimes the dealer wants to avoid the warranty work, but corporate will allow the claim.
@MarquezDaniel
@MarquezDaniel 6 месяцев назад
@@JoesCarSmartsNY same here, I did my normal oil changes but I have no proof that I did so I'm not even sure corporate would approve it but I guess it doesn't hurt to try right lol

I have an issue with the same pathfinder, where the cabin air doesn't get warm. Do you know where the heater core comes through the firewall? Maybe could flush it
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 5 месяцев назад
I’m not sure. But at this age I would suspect the blend doors in the HVAC housing before I suspected a clogged heater core.
@NewFoundStudios
@NewFoundStudios 5 месяцев назад
@JoesCarSmartsNY the only reason I dont think it's the doors is because when at higher revs she does warm up

@@NewFoundStudios Interesting. The engine temp gauge is normal tho? It’s not lower than usual?
@NewFoundStudios
@NewFoundStudios 5 месяцев назад
Nope it's sitting around normal, and had the engine thermostat replace already, because thought that aswell
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 5 месяцев назад
@@NewFoundStudios Still seems weird for a clog this early. But I guess it’s pretty narrowed down. Any chance the system needs to be “burped” any more? Possibility of trapped air?

Would a bad PCV value throw a P0101 MAF Code on a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder ? 1/29/24
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 5 месяцев назад
I think that’s unlikely.
@amyross3475

Thanks for the quick reply. I had the code P0101 MAF. I replaced the MAF with an original OEM part. I replaced the electrical connections and harness too. The P0101 code is still showing. I am trying to figure out what would be throwing this code. The upstream and downstream O2 sensors have been replaced as well. Any suggestions on what to check next?

@@amyross3475 Okay. I would probably pay for one month subscription to alldata.com for your car. It’s about $20. There is probably a step by step troubleshooting procedure in the service manual. It’s $20 for one month access to the complete service manual for one vehicle. I use them when I get into a puzzling repair.

Just replacing the pvc will not by itself solve the problem. In addition the plastic valve cover has a second layer to the cover. The galleys get plugged up and does not allow gasses to free flow. Also the air tube that goes from the pvc back to the engine needs replaced. Some people use a ultrasonic cleaner to bath the valve cover and hose in. There is no way to know positively that they are clean. These parts are not horribly expensive and are not difficult to replace. If you try this be aware this may not solve the problem. The problem is nissan took a good reliable engine and turned it into a crap product.
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 4 месяца назад
All true. We learned that this engine was junk at a low mileage. It’s since been replaced and was not cheap to do so.

Did it fix the problem? I have a 2020 pathfinder and Im having the same problem
@JoesCarSmartsNY
@JoesCarSmartsNY 7 месяцев назад
It did not fix the problem. I tried an oil additive that’s supposed to help with the seal of the piston rings…that helped slightly so I think the rings are bad at only 68k miles.

@JoesCarSmartsNY Nissan is unbelievable! 2017 57k miles I did an oil change and only 3 quarts came out. I did an oil change 3k miles prior

The problem is the egr passages in that rear valve cover underneath the egr valve get plugged just like the egr valve. Even if you replace the valve, the passages are still blocked. You have to remove the valve cover and Soak/clean it or replace it. Also need to do a chemical engine flush to break down all the buildup in the engine and do more frequent oil changes to also help prevent build up. Valvolines new Restore and Protect oil is probably the best option for these, or an oil additive to every oil change to prevent carbon buildup.
