You have a terrific Baritone voice. Great for ballads and such. Baritones are far and few between and most often found in barber shop and gospel bands. I am a retired Pedal steel Guitarist from the Nashville scene and specialized in bluegrass music on the steel and doubled in the studio as an upright acoustic bass player. Your voice fills a niche market, a void in the industry and your pickin is impressive give us some more outros on your videos showing off your gifts. Nice job.
I have always enjoyed your videos Jake, you have inspired me to purchase certain tractors and start projects that keep me busy. Glad to see you're back with another video! 😊
There you go now,...up to 833 views, 175 Thumbs Up, and Zero Thumbs Down,..that shows you're doing what we all like. Thanks for this most entertaining twoent plus minutes. See you later on Jake,..all the best in this New Year. As a Canadian, who has been to New Hampshire a few times, I think you'll like that State,..if I had to move somewhere and could,..I'd pick NH. Cheers!
Great video Jake enjoyed the picking and singing, Trucks , Tractors and all the rest of it, everything a good ole boy likes, hope to see ya again soon and thanks for the video
Pelham is a pretty nice town! Pretty close to the highway to Boston and also Haverhill and Maine! Tractor Supply is in town and if you move to Hillsborough county you might get a customer! I need a kohler k321 rebuilt at some point in time!
Boston- not a place I care to go! Haha. If I can find a place on a secondary road (Rt 13, etc) that would be great too. As long as my out of state customers can drive in easily enough. Can do! If you need it rebuilt sooner than later, give me a holler via the phone number on the side of the truck in the video.
Happy New Year Jake..... That Blazer is in amazing shape. Blazers of that era, as far as that goes all GM trucks of that era rotted out on the showroom floor. My dad had a 78 4X4 Suburban with the granny gear 4 speed, back in the day.... it would pull anything.
Searching around I noticed the blazers are all in worse shape than the trucks. Don't know if GM used a different grade metal for them, but K5's are tough. That sounds like an awesome rig! 70's Suburban with a 4spd, made a heck of a work and family rig I bet!
@@5Tractorguy Your correct on Blazers and Suburban's rusting worse. The trucks were more open, allowing rain to wash salt away, and they were open to air, allowing them to dry out. The sheetmetal was the same across all GM vehicles, but in that era, GM did have rust issues across the board, due to inferior sheetmetal. Ford had the same issues in the early 70's. Ford used Japanese suppliers in the early 70's, GM used them in the mid 70's. I think the worst car bodies for rusting were from the 70's era.... they rusted on the showroom floor.... that was the joke of the era.... not to mention quality workmanship was poor then too. Thats when imported cars took hold, people were sick of the poor quality of the cars coming out of Detroit. Take care of that Blazer, they pull in really good money for a decent one.... yours is very restorable.
As a life long NH guy we'd welcome good folk like you! I'd expand your search east. Strafford county is on the rt. 95 corridor. Close to Maine and Mass. Also the lakes region. Good luck!
@@5Tractorguy if you stay away from the immediate sea coast and look at towns like Strafford, Northwood Barrington, barnstead, Middleton, new Durham or evening Farmington there’s still lots of open space. Good luck!
Enjoyed the video! I hope your search for land and a shop works out for you. In our area of Michigan we really need mechanics, especially someone who offers a mobile repair service. If you decide to sell the Case 195, let me know.
Thanks Mac! It seems like almost anywhere you go, there's a shortage or good mechanics or mobile repair guys. Getting to be far and few in between I suppose...
@@5Tractorguy I'm taking everything I can. What's crazy is that I'm still working 6 days a week at my regular job! Plus I now have a car payment so making that is my first priority!
Sounds like you are having just as much fun looking for property as I am. Best I could find in my area was a 3.4 acer lot for almost $300,000 CAD with a poor well old septic and two garages that could only be fixed with a bulldozer. Also loving the little Lincoln gas welder up on the service truck, I've got an old Kohler generator I want to get running and hope can power my mig and arc off of one day.
You betcha... wish I had an extra 100 - 300K kicking around, then I could get a real nice spread! Wow, that's tall money north of the boarder. I figured ridiculous real estate prices were only here in the US and you'd have better luck up there. It's tough for someone to strike out on heir own now a days with the cost of land... that's for sure. Took a while to find that little Lincoln haha. You have one of those K series light plants? Or one of them old 4 cylinder Kohler gen sets?
@@5Tractorguy it's a k-series light planet, single cylinder setup. Need to get the crank fix (threads broke off) and it has the mag under the flywheel.
Great to see you back on youtube, great job singing and picking. I love bluegrass, old chevys, and tinkering with anything with an engine. You got a price on the 86 GMC? Love that truck.
Thanks 5string! I do have a number in mind for the '86, and it is listed for sale again. If you're serious, call/text the number shown on the side of my trucks in this video and we can discuss.
YOU, my lad, are a RICH man! EVERY way that I can see. You'll probably never win a John Duffey contest but you can be where you're needed and that's stacking guitar pickers up like cordwood in the corner with their arms burned off. Sounded like Lost Indian to me and the 5 sure put a FIRE under it. Fine job singing with the flat top and it'll even out when your voice quits changing HA! You'll find a place and people aren't as interested in selling stuff as you'd think. That's why I got a new splitter and a saw to go with it. Tired of waiting. So keep after it and Tarheel me and that Tarheel Uncle of yours have your back! GBWYall!
Thank you Lewie! I gotta keep slowing down for those guys two... our guitarists fingers don't reach full speed! The mando player can tear into it though. If my voice changes any more, maybe I'll finally be able to get as low as one of the Oak Ridge Boys haha! Just gonna keep on keepin' on here! Thanks Lewie!
@@5Tractorguy We had a cheese slicer picker that'd go into overdrive and the 5-string guy would slow it back down UNTIL HE knocked it out of gear and then I started overheating. No rest for the weary! Get the guitar guy to just play rhythm and HANG ON! That worked the best for me. Made everybody else sound good or tried to. I used to play with Donald Austin that could fill in for anybody and is probably kin to all Balsam Range. We'd go 2 hours at a time, back to back. Sure miss it too. Keep after it Buddy and puberty is a hair raising experience! GBWYall!
I watch your channel for the engine and tractor content, my wife overheard the banjo and came to listen. She is from south west Virginia, and asked where you were from. I said "Massachusetts" she laughed and said "Yankeegrass" then said- "They need to get the drums out of the bluegrass!" I however listen to hardcore metal and have no opinion on that. :)
Ha! Yankeegrass... that's great. I agree with her on the drums though. Bluegrass is tough to find around here so you take what ya can get, even if it means having to play with drums. When I get back to gigging with the other real bluegrass band, that is worthy of a video. We got a dobro in that group, can't beat it!
@@5Tractorguy she said that you sounded great, which is why she came over and asked me what I was listening to! She said for you to check out a group called "Wolfpen Branch"
@@mattthescrapwhisperer Everyone always asks that... There were 3 copyright notices with this video, YT said there were no strikes against my channel, they just said it couldn't be monetized (and since I don't anyways). Usually YT just put a popup ad in to make it "okay". Out of curiosity, where there any mid-roll ads, or no?
Been waiting for this one! : ) Man lots of a good stuff! I know how you feel, I've been loading up on machines for repair and stuff of my own at the same time in addition to school so time is always short lol! Was cool to see all the trucks make an appearance in one video. Hopefully soon enough you will be able to have them all in one location! You will find something soon! (I will say though when you do find something, you are going to need one hell of a moving truck to get everything there! 😂) Also definitely looking forward to seeing the 64 get finished! It's a sick truck. The blazer will be a cool project too! Do you plan on using parts from the Blazer and the K20 to build one good vehicle? Also I love all the grass! I'm so happy you got me hooked on it lol! Now that I got the new stereo in the Dodge I've been listening to it more than ever! Cherokee Shuffle is still one of my favorite songs so that was really cool to see! You should definitely put more recordings of you playing in these videos! And of course the outtakes had me laughing pretty hard as usual! I know how it goes with tripping over words and thoughts while recording...I think last time I checked I already have like 10 min worth of bloopers since last May lol! Awesome stuff Jake! Looking forward to seeing more when time allows!
I know ya have! Finally got to it haha. Well, my uncle (one where I keep the trucks) just bought a mid 80's Mack cab over tractor. So guess who might me helping me move all this junk... Yep, I might use some stuff off the '73 to revamp the Blazer. My dad wanted me to do an 8 lug conversion with the axles, but being the original nut that I am, gonna have to find another blazer for that! I'll see about recording more now if the picking is hot, and now one else minds a camera filming. Hey, you should put all those outtakes together and make your own outtake video! That would be entertaining to watch! Thanks Colin.
@@5Tractorguy Well by buying that he basically volunteered didn't he! 😜 Ohh cool! That sounds like a really cool project! Are you going to do a youtube series on it? Yea more picking footage would be really cool! I like seeing you guys perform! I actually did do that! I decided to do one annually like you do but on my birthday as a little celebration of the anniversary of the channel. (The first one was posted last May) I think it was pretty entertaining but this year's montage will be even better! (This whole covid thing and the quarantine didn't really help my sanity 🤣) Ohh and by the way, I found a good term to describe people like you and me: Workaholics. Even when we aren't working, we are working lol!
I’ve said it before: if you’re booked 6 weeks out you aren’t charging enough! Every year you need to raise your rates. Otherwise you will go three years and then have to make a huge jump and people get pissed.
I went up $10 on the hourly rate last spring. May have to bump it up again this spring... mainly don't want to out-price myself on the rate. I think with a slow increase like you said, I should be able to find that happy medium.
@@5Tractorguy - call around to other shops, not just in your area but other states to see what they charge. Ask yourself if the owner is doing the work and takes pride in it, stands behind it or it some kid straight out of high school turning wrenches, just swapping parts? Explain to the customer to not focus on the hourly number but what you can save them in misdiagnosed parts being swapped from other shops.
Awesome video, I love them old GM trucks there brutes compared to the others, I’ve got an old K-20 Scottsdale with the 6.2 I think she’s a little worse for wear but nothing really bad, also just wondering are you coming down to Watsontown PA for plow day this year?
Hey Tim, a lot of guys that used to run these back on the day said the same thing. Whether it was plowing snow or hauling, they were good rugged trucks! 6.2 K20 is neat! Always liked the sound of the 6.2... As long as it passes inspection, keep it going! From the sounds of it, unfortunately not. Last I heard, this stupid panic curtailed PA plow day... so unless that changes.
@@5Tractorguy yep the 6.2 is one of my favorite engines this one was an old farm truck all it needs is some TLC and it’ll be my daily driver also a buddy of mine told me that plow day was canceled 🤦🏻♂️ because of this dreaded virus, guess I’ll have another year to get everything fixed up and ready
you need to come to the ozark mnts. you can fix all our stuff and sing for us. cheap land and no salt . mnt view ark on sat night . you will fit like a glove
@@5Tractorguy its a town mnt view . its the folk music capital of the world...lol...im sure you knew that but thought i would remind you...good luck young man
Thought of that a few times Frank... if country music (or music in general) wasn't so commercialized now, it'd be fun to do! Can't stand all the trendy popular crap they push in the mainstream stuff though.
