All 2020 Sonic models are powered by a turbocharged 1.4-liter I-4 engine producing 138 horsepower and 148 lbft of torque. It powers the front wheels through a six-speed automatic transmission. 0-60 mph time of 8.5 seconds.
EPA-rated fuel economy measures 26/34 mpg city/highway for both the sedan and hatchback.
All Sonic models are equipped with 10 airbags and a backup camera. Lane departure warning, forward collision alert, and rear parking sensors are optional. Indicative of the Sonic's age, modern driver-assist features like blind-spot monitoring, automatic emergency braking, lane keep assist, or adaptive cruise control are not available.
