Hey Saint , just found your channel, & I just got a 21 FatBoy , looking forward to more of your videos as I learn more about my bike ! 1 question, is the Cat. Converter in the Stock Slip ons ? If so , did that make a big difference in heat or power ?
To be honest I never rode the bike with the stock exhaust. As soon as I got the bike delivered it went straight into the garage and I changed the exhaust. But from other bikes I’ve had, I never noticed a heat difference. But there was a bit of a power difference as the exhaust breathes better without the Cat in the way.
It should not affect the tune. I have a stage one with no issue and I’ve also ran straight pipes with no issues in the past. It wouldn’t be such a huge change that you would have to retune.
Like your videos. Helpful. Thanks. I'm on the brink of buying a 2021 Fat Boy and I'm not comfortable with the exhaust situation. Are you using the V&H slip-ons because Harley Davidson doesn't have the fuel control module to let you use anything else? My dealer told me I only have a few pipes that I can use at this time. I feel that the Fat Boy needs some bad-ass sounding pipes and the few that are usable at this time don't cut it.
I had Vance & Hines slash cut slip-ons on my previous Fatboy and I wanted something different so I went with the eliminators. I chose them just based on research as I liked the sound. It didn’t have anything to do with Harley Davidson. I also looked at V&H short and long shots. But I agree, a Fatboy needs those big sounding pipes!
@@canadiansa1nt309 Interesting because Harley says you are restricted to what exhaust system you can use since they have not developed a fuel module yet.
If I had my way they still could be a little louder. I could pull the baffles out but I don’t want to lose the low rumble sound. If I had it to do over, I would look at completely new pipes rather than just slip-ons. I always liked the V&H Bigshots.
I doubt you would need a tune if you were just adding the pipes as it won’t make a drastic difference. Couple the pipes with a high flow air intake and you should do the tune.
