KEEP YOUR STOCK SHOCKS ! By adding adjuster rings (about $40) I Give my Monkey a STIFFY !!
Seriously though, I'm really cheap. If I can make a part instead of buying one, I'll try,
I take a donor set of shocks. Tear them down. Remove the "adjuster rings"
then repeat the Removal tear down bla-bla-bla on the monkey shocks..
I TEST WEIGHT LIMITS BEFORE AND AFTER INSTALL.
was it worth it?
YES !!! I couldn't be happier.
Thanks for watching.
I was looking for a way to stiffen the rear end of my Monkey. I experience a slight "Bottoming out" of the rear when I ride aggressively off-road.I estimate , using the S.W.A.G. system (Scientific Wild Ass Guess) to determine if this Mod is Worth the Change. I got my used parts from eBay, under $40. There will be two videos. This is the first where I make the jig and disassemble the donor shocks. Video 2 will be the load test and Monkey Shock Tear down and Rebuild. Then after rebuild, I test again to see if it REALLY worked. You should be able to estimate , based on my numbers just how "loaded" you get before Bottoming out.
