As a Tiger 900 GT owner I agree with your thoughts on the bike. The rev counter is not very obvious at all like you say. For running in I used the numbers that you showed. They are not too bad I found when riding but just revving it up they are a blur of numbers. My preference is style 2 on the dash btw. Never had a tft before and think it's quite good for this style of bike but on something sporty I would prefer the old school clocks like on the new street triple r not the rs. The joy stick is close but that seems to be the standard triumph switch gear not just on the Tiger but a few models. Got the bike to do some road based touring of Wales, the Lakes and maybe Scotland in the coming years and seems a good all around bike for most things as my only bike (for now - fancy a CRF300L in a few years when I can afford another, hence why I watch your channel). So basically spot on with your opinion of the bike I'd say!

Ah great, glad we noticed the same things! All round, I really liked the bike. The rev counter seemed an easy fix for triumph though. The Tiger and a 300L would be a great mic of touring and trailing 😎👌🏻

I’m looking at trading in my CRF300 Rally for the GT Pro as I bought it for our green lanes (isle of man) but haven’t found anyone else happy to go at the same time. I’m now thinking of touring a bit around Uk and Europe where I think this will be better. I do have a Street Scrambler as my other bike but it wouldn’t be ideal for long distance. Hope you manage or managed to get away.

A great bike, we reviewed one ourselves. The Rally GT Pro can take in a lane or two itself 👌🏻

@@lightweightadv I'm afraid the rev counter would probably not be an easy fix. I used to work for a software house and making changes to existing, working, software can be a nightmare. Unlike bike owners, Triumph have, I guess, mentally moved on from a bike they released 2 years ago - maybe they'll put a better rev counter on the next generation to tempt us to upgrade!

Excellent 'real world' review! Thanks. About to take ownership of a 2021 GT. I'm sure I'll get used to the joystick arrangement (as someone else here said) but I would like the total mileage to be more readily available - I keep a spreadsheet for my fuel consumption (yep, I'm a sad git!) so will have to be on the ball to take a note of the mileage right after filling up. Had a test ride and the shift assist (on top of all the other great stuff) sold me on this bike. Looking forward to the extra power after riding a Himalayan for 3 years...

After 10000 km in 6 months I never hit the joystick instead of the indicator , using differend pairs of gloves. The skippy feeling of the front around 70km/h and the vibrations are for me the minor remarks. The engine is great , a fantastic gearbox and flawless qiuckshifter.

I feel like my handlebar is a bit too far away for me. Did this appear to you aswell, or were you just fine with the ergonomics? Which tires did you run? The Tourance Next or The Tourance Next 2? - I got my tiger from 2020 which comes with the Tourance Next and i experience weird fron tire slips through out the day. I consider switching tires only for that reason, and on top of that you cant get Tourance Next 2 Tires in Germany because the manufacturer didnt approve these tires for the tiger 900 yet... Otherwise id stick with it, just to make sure its only for the reason of the older generation.

Hey Andre, it was a demo bike, not our own, so I'm not 100% sure which tyres were fitted, sorry! I didn't find other bars too close personally, I thought it was very comfortable! I can imagine sitting in the saddle for a few hours at a time 😎

Nice review! I am leaning to get one of these beauties for the road - GT pr or GT. Would be comfy for 6.2 height?

As someone eho owns a new rally pro...the signal switch and the switch is annoying for about the first few hours...then you just go for the top switch...easy peasy

That's good news Matt. I was only on the bike for a few hours. I might well have got used to it, as with anything I suppose. I guess I was more surprised that Triumph had designed it like that in the first place to be honest 🤷🏻‍♂️

I’ve got a tiger 800 with a TFT and on that version you can change the look of the display to show you a rev counter. Does the new TFT not allow this? Also, you get used to the buttons fairly quickly.
@lightweightadv
@lightweightadv 2 года назад
Honestly Cark, I don't know if it's adjustable, I didn't have the opportunity to get right down into the menu. I didn't see anything obvious though 🤔
@mindspinn311
@mindspinn311 2 года назад
The 900 TFT is a totally different screen and style than the 800. I believe it has multiple styles to choose from like the 800, not sure if there’s also 2 themes, but they’re all in the line/bar graph style. The new larger TFT is much brighter, clearer and easier to read. It’s as beautiful as the BMW one, but Triumph really should reprogram how information, especially RPM, is displayed.

Want trade my mt07 for the new gt pro... But can't get rid of a feeling that dash and massive windscreen somehow obstruct the view. What do you think?

Thank you for an excellent review that was very pragmatic for the everyday Rider. I've seen a number of reviews and this one was the first to describe the ergonomics and weather protection extremely well. Other reviews completely missed it. As I am 6'1, 220 lb, I currently own and ride 1998 Honda sport tour 1100 and put on about 36,000 MI. I purchased the bike new and have maintained it over the years. While it is in perfect mechanical condition and runs not much different than a day I purchased it, it's become just too much motorcycle for me. Too much weight, primarily. I really like what I have been seeing about the Triumph 900 GT. But it is quite expensive here in the US. I'm also considering the Honda the NC 750x, but from what I have read it's simply doesn't have the comfort and weather protection that the Triumph possesses. And, I need a bike that's more or less, a comprehensive do all motorcycle. Most of my time is spent riding Country Roads, but I do some Highway and some City. So I think the Triumph is the bike for me and again your review has cemented my conclusion. Thanks again and take care. All the best.

@@lightweightadv I am 184 cm. Now riding with a Honda CB500x, with a seat height: 830 mm. Next year I would like to change for a bigger bike. I feel, the CB500X is a little bit too small for me. Would prefer a seat height around 860-880 mm. The 900 gt pro is one of the bikes I am looking. But as I can read, it only has a max 840 mm seat height. Have You ever felt the bike small for You?

GT PRO owner - agree 1. Rev Display awful. Software UI written by a game developer, not a gearhead. FAIL. 2. Odometer - only displays for a few seconds on start up. Useless for those of us who use Odometer for waypoint navigation or service intervals, or for clocking consumables on adventure trips. FAIL 3. Service warnings and ODB - no way to turn warnings off even after a full servicing EXCEPT by a dealer. Complete bollocks, especially when the nearest dealer may be literally thousands of miles away. FAIL.

Hey Stu, ah, sounds like you've found a few issues. That really doesn't sound great, especially for a long range GT bike. Do you still own one then? There must he a few positives, I thought it rode very well, for example

The display needs a firmware update that shows round dials for speed and tachometer. I'd pay a dealer to do that.
