Who ever designed these cars is a genious, well thought out and practical, they've also used galvanised steel body panels which is an added bonus if you want a car to last as long as the super reliable Honda engine and gear box.
Good video, great description of the features and functionality. I’ve actually just ordered one and in the same colour too. Had a red 1.5 Sport for three years, really enjoyed it.
Great to see someone finally drive a honda properly in the review. I have an 2017 sport hatch and love it to bits. Such an accurate description throughout the video. Its is a very versatile car, with crazy big booth for the class, managed to transfer a small closet once the seats are down. Feels very light and can pick up speed very quickly, especially on the motorway, even in 6th gear it just goes. Fuel consumption can drop even up to 6l if eco mode is on but than cars power is very restricted. I was surprised how many extras it has for the class and the price range.
Great video Brian. I have the 1.0 litre vtec turbo SR 10 generation phase 2 amazing car very quick MPG is brilliant 56 mpg on economy on a long run. I love the led lights on the front. The rear lights up nice to. Love the sporty front and a nice rear to. All in all an amazing car.
I looked at my channel analytics, and even though I speak English, about 10% of people have to use subtitles which are English, sorry I talk really fast, it is the way we talk in this country where I’m from🙈🙈
If you still get one at this day ... That blue is awesome and a head turner! Normally I am a Black color guy with my cars but that blue is just something else. The front highlights comes better in blue then in Black. I have the 1.0 right now but want to change to a 1.5. This car is reliable. In -22 degrees it comes on on the first turn. Use it for daily shores and work and I never had a problem what so how. Drive it for 4 years and didn't need to ever do something big on it.
Nice video Brian, great car. I miss my one (S-GT Spec) which was utterly reliable for the 3 years I had it. And very economical considering the performance. I like the new controls beside the screen, I wish my new ID.3 had the same..
@@doolanbrian Lovely car Brian, but let down by poor initial software. I have been lucky, just had to use the physical key a few times due to central locking problem and losing other info stuff as well. But big update due next tues, should sort out all the minor software problems and give additional features such as Car Play etc. Then only 1 other easier update in a month or so, after that hopefully everything over the air. VW should not have released the car so early, but I suppose can be excused considering everything going on atm.
Hey Brian , love the videos you upload. Not at all cringy like some dealers 😂 out of interest , How much is this ? Currently have a MK9 facelift I-dtec si and this is the next civic for me
Hi there !! Thanks for watching!! This car is no longer available new😔😔now discontinued.. at the tune of the video it was €33000 .. second hand options do exist though 🙂🤘
Great info. Does the high beam assist work reliably without worrying about dazzling on coming drivers? Also, what's the upgraded sound system like? Thanks
Hey Hector! The high beam assist is average, there are times where you have to manually intervene to stop dazzling other drivers ! I have yet to come across a very good system so I admit the Honda one is only average at the moment, sound system is pretty good however this model does not have the premium audio, the premium audio comes in higher specifications, premium audio has a subwoofer so it gives a little more thump !! Thanks for watching!
Thank you for watching🙂, the only thing I would say is it’s not like the old high revving VTEC😞 it’s only on the exhaust now it’s no longer on the intake profile, so it doesn’t make a interesting sounds !
Great and informative video. What do you think of the cvt? ie is there a significant dip in performance or is the manual the better option ! Cheers mike
Thanks for watching mike ! The CVT acceleration is very similar on both but they are different in how they do it ... I guess if I had to call it the manual is a drivers car and the CVT is a cruiser ?? If that makes sense ??
Warning, fastest talker in the world :) sub 7 sec 0-60 this is every inch a hot hatch. Sounds nice as well. The only down side is the high rev matching change, horrendous. You can get that mapped out though. One of the nicest cars I have owned but really regret not getting the type R. Got the sport + which also has illuminated sill plates front and rear as well as darked out badges ;)
I think they can do it however !!! The s design and gt can’t take a Towbar because of the exhaust !! The prestige model has a no exposed exhaust so it can take the Towbar 🙂🙂 thanks for watching !!
@@doolanbrian Oh yes the prestige model has the same 1.5 turbo but is a more subdued look with the exhaust hidden. Thank you for letting me know, I would never have known until it was too late. Love the channel buy the way.
@@KRANKENdude The car is currently discontinued, there is a generation 11 civic due next year, late 2022.. and type r Should follow the year after but I’m not sure if we will get it in Ireland!
Hey Ren .. we never had that problem .. so I don’t know .. I only ever hear about it in the US and China .. do you have it in your country ?? Thanks for watching 🙂✌️
@@doolanbrian I’m in Ireland and am curious as it would put a lot of people off knowing they maybe potential problems down the road. I hear Honda aren’t owning up to the issue and have only made a software workaround and recommended more regular oil changes on account of it
@@powderedtoastman3093 We have never had a case of oil dilution here in Kildare since launch of the car in 2017. :) Oil changes are more frequent on these cars in comparison to previous models so approx 8000-10000kms so maybe that is how the manufacturer navigates around the issue. The only experience ive ever had of the issue is from American people commenting on videos. The 1.0 petrol also has 8000-10000 kms intervals and the 1.6 DSL is 10000kms intervals too. Again we have had other problems with these cars but none related to oil dilution. It wouldnt stop me selling the car or buying one as its so uncommon in Ireland. Service history is super important though on modern engines. They are much less robust than older more simple engines.
It’s definitely going to be a struggle, the problem is however it’s impossible to tell as some people have longer torso , And other people might have longer legs, the only way you will know is to sit in the car and see yourself! Sorry I couldn’t help any better
Okay it does have VTEC however it’s only on the exhaust side so you won’t get the traditional crossover sound like you would on the old cars if that makes sense?
@@diogosimoes79 It drives pretty much the same as any other car, you won’t notice any difference between a VTEC engine in this case and a non-VTEC engine, The older VTEC engines however especially the DOHC VTEC units had VTEC on the intake side also, this would produce a significant change in performance and engine tone at higher engine revolutions.. unfortunately because the new ones only work on the exhaust side you don’t get any dramatic differences like the ones found in the older engines
@@doolanbrian Ah that's fine then. Thank you for the reply again. I have read that the 1 litre has a timing belt compared to the 1.5 that has a timing chain. I think I'll aim for the 1.5.
Hi David , it has VTEC alright .. they have VTEC available but only on the exhaust section of the combustion cycle .. so it’s not the like the screaming VTEC that had 2 intake cam profiles back in the day 🙂
I can assure you, this engine is fitted with VTEC system, I am led to believe, however, that in some countries, perhaps North America or Canada, they don’t seem to have a VTEC system fitted
@@doolanbrian it is the same engine with same the technology in place globally. Internationally it is marketed as VTEC but it does not have VTEC and in the USA it is called VTC, because in principle it is a different system and does not work the same.
@@dominicg2456 the car is equipped with a VTEC system … the VTEC system isn’t like the old VTEC system from years ago, where there were cam changes which related to the intake side, but the company still refers to the current technology as VTEC , so essentially, the car is equipped with VTEC as disignatrd by the company who builds the product .. be it in a different format than older models but still described as a VTEC system
Electric and hybrids...no thanks. These cars, and so many other modern petrol cars get insane mpg and have virtually zero emissions. Don't get me started on what it takes to produce electric vehicles. I'll always drive petrol cars until I literally can't anymore. By then I'll be dead anyway. Here in VT I'm curious how electric (no soul) vehicles will perform when it's -40°f out for weeks at a time.
