Nice race, although the bimmer driver was never properly lined up in the rolls. I think the second race wouldve been closer had he been lined up properly and not ahead
Looks like Bimmer guy jumped one race, and for the roll race he did not line up properly. For a 15 year old gear box againt new technology gear box, just shows how good a GTR is. Hopefully they make a R36 GTR that'll be a game changer.
I was going to say the same thing, the bmw jumped the second race and pulled on the gtr hard since the GTR was not really reeling the bmw in until the end.
You can find 2018 gtr’s for around $100,000. The M4 competitions are running around $85,000. It’s not much of a difference. Exclusivity plays a part in pricing. There are way more M4’s running around than GTR’s. They are both expensive cars
@@djzulumask2138 price is almost a wash between the two. Granted they could have put a 2009 GTR with a tune in the test and would have had the same results which would be 3/4 the price of the M4. Nissan has been using the same turbocharger part number since the CBA. 14411-KB50A
Considering how old the Nissan powertrain is, I think it did extremely well in this race. It's almost 15 years old and still able to keep up with modern cars with their high-tech powertrains.
@@oemj7147 and you are absolutely right, I know it's a 2018 and not at 2009 but all the parts are the same they've just made little tweaks here and there with the computers and those little tweaks to the transmission but they're all the same parts.
@oemj7147 That's not the point. All thats being said is GTR powertrain is 15yrs old and is performing extremely well against modern powertrains. Of course they could have continued to develop but they didn't. Yes prices did increase. Its called inflation. All OEM increase their prices to current market conditions
@@Raven77844the race is the race. It’s about winning and losing. No one cares about all the reasons and excuse. I raced a mclaren 570 tuned with a my Hellcat. I gave him the hit and he still got gap. All I heard was I had a 400 more hp then him. It’s an L period.
I'd still pick the GTR. Sure, the BMW is newer, nicer, and even a lil quicker now but in 20 years, it's just another BMW M Car. Special for sure, but the GTR will always represent that time. That era when somehow, a Nissan was king.
@@Messergebnis-liebhaber"he finally posts the drag race we have been waiting for" is not the correct quote you should use for a silly drag race comparison video filmed 3 days ago.. that's stupid
They did revise the powertrain a bit for the 2012 model year which made it gain some power but still.. there's a reason this car was dubbed Godzilla since its inception. It's a shame Nissan slept on it. Although not a true successor to the R34 Skyline, this was a revolutionary car when it came out in 2008. Same with the Lexus LF-A albeit at a different price point but both are legends!!! Would love to see either Mazda or Hyundai/Kia to launch a supercar of their own as they're the ones carrying that winning spirit these days.
Very evenly matched. Now you guys need to set up this same event through several stages of modification to see if things change. For example set up this same event with both cars tuned. then with both cars with full bolt-ons. Heck even get some dyno numbers on them.
I think they're a bit more...."find some existing cars that people will let us borrow and pair them up". Less..."plan specific races and build out cars to match".
Great races Sam. Thank you to both drivers for their time. Another G80/G82 competition xdrive in Sam's videos that proves these do indeed nail 0-60 in 2.8-2.9 seconds stock. S58 & B58 engines are unreal.
There was a time when BMW fans were dreaming of beating a GTR with an M5 . . . Now there are photo finishes with this and the M4. Beamer has come a long way 🏁
@@SamCarLegion That's right, From my point of view, you should applying punishment for such people to adher "Race Regulation rules" Regards my friend 🫡
ещё далеко не положил, это простой старый гтр, есть новее и быстрее, а есть ещё нисмо, именно его нужно ставить с компитишен, но их достать очень трудно
About as evenly matched as it can get but a couple things..first race #2 was bs the bmw driver started damn near a car length ahead otherwise it would probably be neck n neck. Race #4 the final dig was perfect and goes to show the bmw really is underrated. And about that bmw, with about 60 less hp and nearly identical weight, torque and barely edges a GTR tells me its probably making 503whp not to the engine. But great close races
He did say that the Bimmer is pushing more power out of the box in the beginning, and plus, you are talking bout a 15 year old technology GTR against a new technology Bimmer. Just shows how good the GTR is.
Two equally amazing "Apex Predators" in the automotive domain, both of which are worthy of admiration and respect. A true "petrol/gear head" is in heaven amongst both or either vehicle, whilst the fanboy is smashing his keyboard, looking for excuses and/or insults to help them "cope". ✌️
this was an INSANE race. very clean and straight to the point. Something that was pretty amazing to see both these cars were fighting it out😂. Hats off to the GTR still keeps shocking me 🔥.
Tough one! Im JDM but gotta say i reckon the M4 has it 👌 better all round car. GTR is old now and pretty only decent when tuned - stock tune it struggles against most things these days
that’s not even true. As you can see it held its own very well here… it literally just won a roll race and a drag race against BMW who is underrating 500 horsepower.
@@balmainattitude I wrote that as a non bias prediction. But yes, rather happy with the GTR. Nissan know too well nearly every engine is going to be worked on. No need to progress when GTR's are one of the most tuned cars on the market today and one that still dominates the field. Still think the M4 is a better all round car though 🙂
@SamCarLegion , the M driver not only jumped the gun in the first race but he always went to First Gear instead of second as suggested in the announcement of the races. You can tell that by looking at his dashboard. Drag race was a whoever had the better start.
This shows two things. How good the GT-R is considering how old it is, and how good the M3/4 has gotten in modern times. At the end of the day, though, the GT-R still wins because once modded, the GT-R will take the M3/4. The aftermarket is much greater for the GT-R than it is for the current generation M3/4.
Concur. However, with GT-R prices nowadays, you're better off buying an M3/M4 if your goal is not to go beyond E85/Bolt ons. The transmission on the M4 if far superior than the clunky, noisy and outdated 6speed Nissan DCT. And how many here have deep pockets to go beyond e85/bolt ons on a GTR? Engine mods start at $30K and add another $20k-$30K for tranny mods. Sure, I've known people that have done that, but they are the very few minority. I don't own a GTR any more, but keep up to date at GTRLIfe forum.
This will be interesting. I'd rather own the M4 TBH as I'm not a fan of anything Nissan but the GTR does have street cred. The GTR ON PAPER has more hp but down on tq compared to Beemer. I think from a dig the M4 takes it initially but the GTR may close the gap at the end. Gotta go with the GTR on rolls on this one (stock vs stock) as long as there is no cheating on mods and stuff...
For a 2018 R35 I wonder how much abuse it has seen since bought but still staying strong and consistent, I wonder if the BMW can do that after 5 years of abuse.
So S58 is truly in the ~560-575 crank HP range. Weight was almost the same with slight advantage to GTR and top end (HP is all about top end) M4 ever so slightly gains.
@themobbkillas the m5 comp beats the r8 v10 non plus, so m5 cs would destroy it, the m5 cs almost keeps up with the turbo s , r8 wouldn't stand a chance
There was definitely some jumping but both cars could have done better realistically. The M4 have been known to do 10.8 stock so it also wasn't running its best time here like the GTR
Why are we still comparing everything MODERN to an old dinosaur?... are BMW fans that pissed it's taken this long to just take out the MIGHTY GODZILLA 😆🤣...
Anti BMW souls here failing to acknowledge how fast that m4 is. GTR is meant to be a super car. Double in price and still lost to the M4! Nissan has opted to update GTR’s power train, their choice! S58’s are beasts!!!! Bad reliability of BMWs are a myth. Drive one and fall in love immediately…
