Idk if it’s me, but I feel like Ducati mainly competes with itself. Monster, Streetfighter, Panigale, Diavel. So many of them are closer to each other than they are to anything else offered in another brand.

I picked one up last month, loving it! I chose it over the SF v2 for the wind protection. You can also pull up on the windscreen and get another inch and half raise which has been nice on the highway. I was coming from a naked bike so one of the big things I wanted was more wind protection. Mirrors are the downside but I've found different areas of the throttle smooth it out if I need a clearer look. Felt way more comfortable for me as well.

@@latarn817 now that I put 700miles on it I can say I probably like the supersport better. Street Triple is the best quality / bang for the price. It's super light, nimble and just makes you want to weave through lanes and traffic. It definitely feels a lot quicker than the supersport at lower RPMs. Supersport S almost feels like riding a BMW GS because the front and rear ohlines are super plush and optimized for street riding. Street Triple felt high quality but this one feels even higher quality. Even the steel brake lines are covered with rubber. It's not as crazy as my R6 or precise as my Street Triple but it feels premium and full of character. Now that I'm used to the weight and the heat I'm having more fun riding this vs any of the bikes I've owned in the past.

Chase was insanely lucky. He began riding right at the time when RU-vid started hitting its stride, right place right time. End result, he’s not really very good at this. He gets numbers and features wrong ALL the time (this bike is 463 dry Chase, not 400 wet. Jesus. Just a shred of research), his wording on different things is kinda terrible, he whines about tiny points while glossing over important details, he’s just… he was insanely lucky on timing. Bought one last year, everything you said is spot on. Old school Ducati vibe and love the electronics. Personally I enjoy the vibrations, I bought a Ducati because I was wanting to feel to old school thump of the Vtwin. This engine has heaps of character and I wasnt looking for another smooth boring inline 4. The pops and burbles of the engine on the over run still make me grin everytime.

I put 10k miles on my old SuperSport that I bought new back in 2017 when they came out. Other than a few faulty fuel level sensors (which is why modern Ducs do not have them) I didn't have any issues out of it. It was a fantastic daily rider and could rip mountain roads with ease thanks to all of that torque. Five hour highway rides were a treat. That thing loved to cruise at 105 all day long. I traded it in last year for a Streetfighter V4 because, well, it's a Streetfighter V4. I don't regret owning the SuperSport for a second and miss it all the time. The first time Chase reviewed this bike back in 2017 (and swayed me towards it), he gave it a five-helmet rating. He also said that if you were intermediate at best as a rider, that it'd be a great entry to Ducati. Both of these I completely agreed with at the time. It honestly is amazing how much of a useful bike it was for daily riding.

I daily my 22 SS 950. I didn’t want the added suspension, because I wouldn’t track on that bike. It is fully capable and there are videos of pro riders doing it. It is incredibly comfortable and the heat isn’t that bad. I live in South West Florida and wear leathers. If I do a short trip to the gas station in shorts, the heat is uncomfortable. I use the auto shifter 90% of the time and it works correctly in that same percentage. If you’re going to downshift, you need to either maintain your speed or be slowing down. There are times when I upshift, I accidentally leave my foot on too long during the shift and it puts the bike in neutral. I have new boots and I’m still getting use to it. I haven’t had a problem when I was wearing basketball shoes with shifting. I bought a lowered seat, which I like a lot. My biggest complaint is the slow speed. The throttle has a gap for when I need to go 5 mph through a parking lot or to do tight turns. It tends to want to stall out regardless of how I manage the clutch. Neutral is a pain to find. I’m going to see if I hold the shifter in long enough will it go into neutral. It seemed to happened when my foot was engaged for too long, so that may be the trick. I know this may sound silly, but if you need to stop the side mirrors from shaking you can pull the clutch in momentarily 😅. There is a lot more vibration than I anticipated. I took a 400 mile trip and noticed it especially in the handle bars.

OC: Hands down I'd go for the Streetfighter V2. It is something that the Supersport S doesn't run as hot as a Panigale. But with the heat of a north Georgia summer you're not really gonna notice the difference much at all. As riding a Panigale in the summer is like riding an oven, and as Chase said in the WBR Garage shakedown of the CBR600 you shouldn't ride a oven. 🤣🤣

I own the 2021 SSS and love it. Yes it vibrates a lot. I have about 2K miles on mine and haven’t had any problems. I haven’t noticed the brake problems you have mentioned. Maybe it is that bike. My favorite thing about the bike is comfort. It is super comfortable and I have back problems. One problem with my bike is the quick shifter is not that great. Blipping from 4 to 3 is inconsistent. I stopped using it to downshift because more times than not it fights me. Upshifting has a bit problems hitting neutral. Just FYI the passenger pegs are on the S model the previous owner must’ve removed them. Overall great bike and awesome first ride of my bike. Thanks!

my advice to you is to get the exhaust actuator dummy from competition werkes. it’s 60$ plug and play, about 3,000 miles in to owning my 21 SSS, i got a check engine light and the bike was freaking out because that actuator tends to go bad. i ended up changing my exhaust to delkevic but that 60$ i spent is the best piece of mind i’ve gotten. 5,000 miles later no issues. if you end up getting a check engine light it’s probably that, just in case

Got the 2020 SSS and the quick shifter is not the smoothest on my bike either. Using the clutch most of the time. False neutral happened quite often before but being real distinct when shifting have cured that for me. Other than that and the mirrors It is a great bike. Looking for a reverse shift kit but not found one yet.

I don’t live close to any large cities either, the city is work in is a glorified large town in all reality…

Man this bike with the 135HP 848 engine would have been perfect, It would have been a goldilocks-zone kind of bike, for a 110 kg man 100hp engine is a bit slow. Everything else I love about this bike and it is a bit bigger than those smaller 650 bikes like the Aprilia RS660 so you dont look stupid on it Also I would not put risers on this bike like the person owning this one did, the riding position on the Supersport 950 is perfect, even for long distance touring. It has that awesome semi-aggressive riding position where you lean a bit into the wind instead of sitting like a sail upright and taking all the wind to your body. Chase better make up his mind, in the last Supersport 939 first ride you did of this bike it was the best bike you had ridden the whole year and you gave it 10 out of 10 points, here you say "I have never been a huge fan om em" so what is all that about ? I smell a lot of bullshit.

Get the full Akrapovic race system and tune and you're up around 120hp while slashing 20lbs off of it - I've tracked mine and commute on it regularly. Unless you're a serious track rider, the Panigales are just inferior as for road-oriented duties. On track, this can still pull proper lean angles, and tightening up the suspension dials it it perfectly. Ducati finally made a 'practical' sports bike - but I'll disagree that this ride would suit old guys... unless someone has pretty long arms, the reach to the bars is lower and further ahead than the SF or any other naked, and the comfort is good only when compared to hardcore race-reps.

The Supersport is 463 lbs but you don’t really feel the weight. Low center of gravity. OC: I’d take the Supersport over the v2 sf. Yeah the v2 has more thrills but naked bikes aren’t the greatest for constant freeway rides. Plus the SS looks better imo.

Nice review & bike. Although way too expensive & it also weighs far more than 403lbs. Try 468lbs. It really needs an update imo which includes shedding weight & adding cruise control. Power & torque are fine imo & a weight loss of at least 20lbs might make it feel a bit sharper too.

I owned a V2 and loved it but damn it would cook you in traffic. I sold it and kept my R9T. The V2 was underserved for what I was using it for which wasn’t racing. If I was loaded I’d just empty the fluids and put it on display in my living room because it was so pretty. The Ducati SS is beautiful, but it should have cruise control for touring.
