2022 Fashion Trend Hot Takes… 

I feel like trends just flood my socials but I never see them in real life (except the blue baggy jeans, Jordans and oversized hoodie trend). I’m from Germany and have never seen somebody wearing arcteryx, ASICS (in a fashion sense), birks and so on. That’s quite interesting to me. But it might be because I’m from Germany so i don’t know to be honest.

I personally hate “core “ or “aesthetics “ cuz I’m in college and one my neighbor is a ballerina , I’ve seen so many people say things like “I love her aesthetic I wanna do a messy bun with leg warmers……” but the thing is that her life is that way , she isn’t trying to reach a certain aesthetic, she’s a ballerina and her life is extremely chaotic from my understanding, discipline, rehearsals……it’s a lot of work and her appearance is a result of that , these “cores and aesthetics “ feel like people are trying to wear the surface level skin of someone’s actual life , and be like “hey look at me “ it feels really gimmicky and a deeper version of a Halloween costume

What’s crazy is that I use to work for Salomon and Arcteryx back in 2016-2017 and I wore the brand like streetwear back then and my supervisor hated it 😭

I like the grown up streetwear trend. Cause to me, for the older folks it gives an outlet to still be in streetwear while not looking cringy or look like you're trying to be younger and I much prefer that than being in formal wear all the time. Can imagine dressing like that as a grandad lol

I definitely jumped on the gorpcore trend, but it completely changed my perception on designer goods in general. Buying something that not only looks good but actually has a function. It’s made me question why I would spend so much money on say a jacket that it not waterproof nor that warm but is “designer” when say an Arc’teryx jacket will keep me dry and warm for a fraction of that price. I guess time will only tell when people will continue to wear Gorpcore for it’s actual purpose or just because it was a trend.

I’m glad you mentioned the brand stuff, because I was thinking about it today while scrolling on here. Tried looking up “how to come up with menswear designs” and instantly sighed when basically every video was about starting “t shirt” brands. Wish we would get more experimental with things we create, though fashion can be an expensive hobby/trade so I get playing it safe.

I know the trend of dressing up like a dad is long gone now, but I still love the concept of dad shoes. New Balance, Asics, hell, even Merrell work so well if you want your fit to look good and versatile. I can wear them with anything, but I prefer to wear denim jackets and maybe loose fitting pants or stylized cargo shorts. It's one of those fits that feels nice to wear, while also blending in with the usual crowd. It gives off a "practical" vibe, where the main goal is that function follows aesthetic.

I’m done following trends. Lol. Also I definitely agree. Kanye is always one step ahead of fashion, I honestly think he is a fashion icon, whether people like it or not. Since Kim revealed he dressed her since they got married, her monochrome outfits, well outfits in general elevated BIG TIME!

I know it's basic but for someone who sweats really easily linen shirts and tank tops are a life savior in summer

u are easily one of the best fashion channels on youtube, so many are hella pretentious but you seem have a really understanding and open view to fashion, keep it up

I bought Arcterxys jacket, for its look and it functionality. Ik I won’t have to worry about buying another rain jacket for decades, also I can layer it with my winter sweaters. Gives nice sleek look that not many other companies can replicate.

Here in brazil blokecore exists since 2005 along with funk's culture, but instead of sambas people use mizuno wave prophecy and asics gel too

ASICS has been pretty under the radar but has had incredible collabs and sneakers from Vivienne Westwood and Kiko Kostadinov, the jjjjound shoes were cool too and were def a “hype” release but it’s always been more an iykyk kinda thing

i hate blokecore lmao. it’s not a real thing. some kids on tiktok just made it up. it’s just a jersey, jeans, and sneakers. you can’t stray from that because it’s just an outfit formula that you can’t stray from. that’s not a style by definition

I never though that hiking gear was called Gorpcore, back when I was working as a staff in a scout camp I was always ripping apart my salomon and neutron stp Gore-Tex hiking boots from all the running and mud, my patagonia and north face pieces catching fire or getting damaged kayaking or long hour setting up campsite late at night, and that was back in 2008 - 2015. I love that it still out here, some of the crazy fits I don't dig it. But that's me. Great video!

Gorpcore is pretty much the standard outfit for a good portion of people in Washington mostly because it is constantly wet and a LOT of people hike here.

I love gorpcore especially the men's pants are so comfortable and trendy with the side pockets i always buy and wear the men's size as it is more versatile to style and fits in the baggy trend

Living in both manhattan and the midwest, I would definitely say whether you see a trend in real life or just on socials is entirely based on your location. Whenever I am in nyc I only see whats on my feed, trust me its out there.

I like this trend especially being a big girl, I've gained weight unfortunately due to new medications, its cold here where I live, I love that this look is becoming in, its also extremely affordable for those of us living in low-income areas, people who don't drive and take public transit regularly. I was never into streetwear as an adult and now I am. Loved your take though, very interesting.

Awesome video, and I agree with 90% of your takes. As much as I saw the reemergence of the dunk popularity I never decided to purchase a new pair. They are too wide at the ankle imo. For a similar low top, the jordan 1 low OG are imo a better asthetic ,the original Jordan 1 Retro Low are the best but $$$. I fall between grown-up streetware and younger. You should make a video on fall trends to do and to avoid! I have been doing the hoodie with thin lapel peacock or patigonia puffer with red wing boots or chelsea boots of jordan 1s, looking to switch it up. Love the video!

Panda Dunks are everywhere in NY and am happy that I didn't buy a pair cause I never follow "trends" and stay in my own lane cause that is what makes us unique at the end of the day and not trying to look like the next person. People are starting to look like repeated NPC's outside. 😁

Trends haven't really changed much over the last 20 year tbh. All these so called subtypes or generes have been around for at least decades or more, just renamed, gorpcore is basically just 2010 techwear hypebeasts, bloke core is 90s UK streetwear (think Oasis, Blur, Radiohead) the general trend summed up is a rise in late 90s early 2000s fashion.

Arcteryx is great tbh, I'm an outdoor person but also into street fashion so it only make sense for me to hop on the brand and I do think they are worth the price tag. I've tried many diff rain jacket before that claim will keep u dry but never does. So while the price tag is high if u read reviews everyone claim the piece last for years.

ALD and Grown up streetwear is actually a nice change from the cancerous trendy gorpcore and workwear. My explore page is full of those fits and repost pages only repost those fits for some reason, they are just plain and boring imo, not really fashionable and most looks are so similar that you cant even distinguish between them

When comes to fashion, I really believe you need to have the look to don some clothes, sometimes I see some mid-aged-huge-bellied men wear sling bag (the fanny pack kind which you wear over your left shoulder to your right waist and Indiana Jones type satchel), got a Brad Pitt’s Fury hair styles and has gold ring or necklace, I seriously cannot imagine myself in that. Also some trends really look good only on celebrities, like Asian office wear with pants that is 5 inches shorter than your ankle, those don’t really look good on everyone, I remember a friend told me that her manager once asks for a meeting just to tell them (most in their 20s) to stop wearing those pants to work coz the customers just won’t take them seriously, lol
