Civics have always been the one car you can confidently recommend to just about anyone from car crazy Type R lovers to people who just want something functional and reliable to get from point A to point B. It’s generally the right answer to just about any question that doesn’t involve trying to impress all the neighbors with how much money you spent on your car.
If you live in the right place, the neighbors just might be more impressed than one would think. I had to keep telling my neighbors...it's JUST a civic. Everyone's car
Been watching this and kbb a lot. From helicopters, to week long reviews - you work sooo hard man and are a household name. Strong content and beautiful family. Internet is lucky to have you!
I've been a car enthusiast since my teens. This car is the perfect commuter. Great, honest review, from a family's perspective. Evie did fantastic. Your daughter is super cute and has a sense of humor....
I like your videos! Evie is charming, honest, and gives the perspective of the average ordinary driver. Micah (like me) is a car nerd and gives all the details us nerds like to know. And it seems like their daughter in the back just might be a future car reviewer too! Great review! I think the new Civic styling is nice.
It feels like they took all the nice things about the 7th gen Accord and updated it with modern tech. I even checked the interior dimensions, and it's within half an inch of the specs on my 2007 Accord sedan. This actually has more trunk space! I will definitely be keeping my eye on it if I'm in a position to replace my Accord in the near future.
Dude same! I’m 40 as well. I had to buy 10th gen :( a few months before this one came out.... u would have waited but my dumb Ford was found on road dead with blown engine.. Ford sucks lol
Interesting fact is that I don’t have a family, I am 25 years old without the parents and actually ur videos keeping me calm and motivated during the day. Thanks
I've owned only one Honda automobile, a much loved '94 Prelude I drove for about 120K miles without a single issue. But I've owned several Hondas with two wheels and another Honda with four wheels and a blade that never saw the street but saw many miles on my lawn. Every single one has been completely trouble-free and well designed. It appears the Civic is no exception. And for those of us (increasingly rare) folks who believe a four door sedan or hatchback offers a superior driving experience compared to an SUV it's nice to see that some automakers still make an effort to offer them. Not a fan of CVTs but I have to admit the technology has come a long way in the last decade. And for most consumers the advantages in terms of some fuel savings and the significant reduction in the droning annoyance of CVTs makes it a non-issue. Obviously, the Civic sedan isn't the most appealing model to many consumers. The 11th generation Type R is the crown jewel of the portfolio though it won't sell in the numbers of the 4 door sedan. Hopefully, its looks will appeal to a wider segment than just those who believe performance hatchbacks should be based on designs of Hot Wheels from Mattel.
Would love to see this in an Si version with more horsepower. However, if Honda can turn this into a Type R vehicle, it would be perfect for those who don't want the juvenile hatchback version.
You two are so cute .... and have such a natural interaction. It's almost like you're married! ;-) Keep up the good work. Appreciate the real-world review and honesty about the car.
Great video. And no, Evie is definitely not crazy for liking it. I prefer the elegant/safe styling of this generation of Civic to the last. IMO, the honeycomb on the dash is a far better look than the last generation’s honeycomb accents on the fake bumper vents, for example.
Well done, Muzios! The exterior is a bit underwhelming, but I'm otherwise impressed. I assumed dealers would price it well above MSRP for longer than I wanted to wait, so I bought a new '20 (not '21) Civic earlier this year for $3K under MSRP.
Hope you have no issues with the 1.5L Turbo "Earths Dream" engine and the Oil Dilution situation. Honda thinks they've resolved/fixed Oil Dilution in the 2022 Civic and other models that have the 1.5L Turbo installed. I seriously doubt it though. Be aware of the Cam Shaft bushings when your engine fails, it's primarily caused by a lack of oil/lubrication getting to where it needs to go. It is like the engine requires 2 pumps to push the oil through it. Hope you purchased an Extended Warranty or Honda Care. The 10th Gen body style is more appealing. Let you know, Honda has been using inferior parts or lesser quality, and Honda is not building good automobiles anymore. However, on white paper, all read well when it is not, and even though they improved on the interior appearance, it's all Eye Candy. It's hard to stay on top when all your competitors gang up and pounce on you. Honda can no longer keep up with the Joneses.
the side profile looks almost seems like a BMW. At this price, it is the best compact car available on the market. Corollas are nice, but the Civic's interior looks better. Good exterior design by Honda.
i live in nova scotia and civics are great in the winter, dont know about mountains lol great review, i bought my 2022 yesterday picking it up monday morning
Again with the CVT nonsense. No, it doesn’t take time to “come up with ratios.” The automatics get the same ratios with gears. CVTs FACTUALLY shift faster than automatics. They actually shift faster than even DCTs! The issue is how a transmission, be it an automatic, CVT or DCT is programmed. If it is programmed for maximum fuel economy then it will always try to stay in the low engine revolution range of 2000-3000rpms, especially with turbos as they generate peak torque in low RPMs. Only when you press the accelerator hard or switch into “sport” mode, will the drivetrain computer switch to higher revolutions and holding the ratios lower.
Prefer the new design more than the older one. The last design was too "beezy", the fake front vents were awful. Like the new gauge cluster, wish they offered vented seats and rear seat vents. Somehow I seem to have mentioned vents three times...now four times.
08:05, I won’t make a comment about Civics in the mountains. But I will say I live in eastern Washington, where we get multiple feet of snow every winter. I’ve never once put chains on. Some good snow tires is all one really needs, AWD/4WD is nice but not necessary for 95% of situations here. Example, my neighbor has a Prius and drives it to work every day. 🤷🏼♂️
I noticed in a different video that there's a TPMS calibration option in the menus, so maybe Honda is finally letting owners keep a set of winter wheels and tires to swap without making them go to the dealer twice a year and pay a service tech $100 to have it re-learn the sensor codes instead.
Just a suggestion. Ive gone through suggestions from established youtubers because Im working on my own channel and one thing they all said unanimously was to have separate channels if your channel is about more than one thing. RU-vid wont let me post a link but you can search the same thing if you want to hear what they have to say. Its best to hear it from them because Im not sure how to paraphrase it. Mistakes New RU-vidrs Make & 15 Tips to Avoid Them from Jeven Dovey is a great one to watch.
Rear end looks like a Jetta. The rest looks like shrunken Accord. It could have been a little more stylish, but the car I just bought a week ago is a Subaru Legacy so I don't have any room to talk.
You Three make this video fun to watch. Personally, I do not believe you are very satisfied with the Civic Touring. Honda has left much more to be desired. It needs better suspension, more sound deadening, more Horse Power HP, replace the rubber band CVT, and rename the Civic to Baby Accord.
Read that Car and Drivers review had this at 7.5 to 60 and it was slower in all categories compared to last versions 6.8. I'm sure it's the CVT throttle mapping, and the manual will definitely be better.
I think the new civic looks pretty nice for the most part. I can see why the front doesn’t fit many expectations but for someone who just wants a reliable car that is decent in the snow, and will good for 20 years - I’m all for it. If you’re into faster vehicles I’d suggest the SI or Type R. Or go with the Accord.
Accord would be nice only if Honda replaces the 1.5L Turbo in it. Go for an Audi A4. If you're not claustrophobic and have no backseat passengers, the Mazda 3 is a better choice than the Civic.
The little joysticks for aiming the AC registers remind me of the ones on my 1967 Lincoln. On the Lincoln everything is metal, but the basic design is the same.
@@MicahMuzio You are pasty in a lovely way, but normally your freckles and darker spots on your face aren’t SO contrasted with the rest of you 😁😊 There’s a noticeable, but subtle, difference with the other cameras and shots in the ride.
I like this new 11th gen so much more than the previous gen. I don't know why, but I really dislike how the 10th gen looked. This one is a breath of fresh air comparatively. I don't think I'd get one though. We're planning on moving down to Texas soon, and no ventelated seats or rear air vents (especially the lack of rear air vents) is a bit of a deal breaker...
Civics were always supposed to be more playful and fun. Honda created a mini accord. The 10th generation will age really well, similar to how we view the 8th.
The new Elantra stood out to me in design and tech. I mean who is offering 64 colors ambient lighting, digital key, dynamic voice recognition, and standard wireless Apple Carplay/Android Auto in the compact segment these days?
Google made RU-vid worse by complicating video quality setting and now, Honda did the same by destroying the design of the Civic. How can companies downgrade with the release of a new upgrade/next gen model?
Great review as always. My question is is the seating low like the last version. I find all new cars seem to sit so low compared to what cars used to be like. Is that to differentiate them more from SUV's or is it to improve handling? Either way, I am finding cars sit too low for me.
You can modify the Civic, by placing spacers in the suspension or having someone redo it for you. Also, you can put bigger wheels on it like size 19, but you need to ask an expert on vehicle modifications. The 2022 and 2023 Civic, not Si or Type R, have a ground clearance of 6.7 inches which is slightly above average. Other compacts have 5 to 6.2-inch clearance, and some have 7 inches. Anything less than 6 inches is not ideal in my opinion. The Civic Touring power driver seat can be raised and the steering column is adjustable.
I haven't seen it in person but it looks slightly better to me then previous generation. They should go back to the styling they had back in 70's or 80's when they last looked really good. Also get rid of useless, unnecessary tech and CVT.
I think this car looks excellent I like it way way way more then the previous gen. Dam dude no manual transmission feels bad man. This would have been the perfect new car for me. Unfortunately I also haul hundreds of pounds tools and materials around with me weekly for work as an electrician.
I kinda like the looks of this generation. Haven't been a fan of the last couple Civic generations, tbh. Was never a fan of looks of the rear on those iterations. Also really like the looks of the inside console. Has a simple but elegant (minimalist) appeal. Though, I am on the fence with the honeycomb look they have going on with the vents. Thanks Muzio fam for the review!
I hate it because it's short and narrow. Honda thinks we are cheap customers. The Civic sold everywhere else in the world are wide and premium. 28K for a car surrounds you with plastics? No, thanks. I wouldn't buy one.
Yeah! I was the first Like!!!! Great review, as always! Seems like a great car, but I'm just not sure about that honeycomb design on the dash...it looks like a dusting nightmare. Otherwise, I give it a thumbs up!
I wonder if Honda owns the company that makes that "Super Clean" cleaning goop since people are going to go through a lot of it cleaning those dash vents.
