Today I'm sharing an updated version of my free Reading Spreadsheet, highlighting the different features and any changes from the 2022 version. If you do make a copy of this, please let me know in the comments and like this video so more people can see it.
Please note, if any errors in formatting are adjusted I will update the date at the top of the description. HOWEVER as this is something that I'm offering up for free I won't be able to drop everything to make changes. I'll adjust where I can, but Google and RU-vid are your friend if you need to fix something minor and/or specific to YOU.

This is very detailed! My only comment is that in the "Diversity" column of the Categories tab, most people prefer the term "Disability" or "Disabled" instead of "Differently Abled." Disabled isn't a bad word and you don't need to change or rephrase it! By coming up with ways to avoid the word disabled, it can perpetuate the idea that disability is inherently bad or taboo. Of course, everyone has different opinions on the topic and we are all constantly learning and growing, but the majority of the disability community (at least that I've seen) has expressed this notion about their preferred terminology.

This is AMAZEBALLS!! Thank you so much, I have been trying to figure out how to track books in a better way than Good Reads or StoryGraph....both great, but don't track representation, subgenres, etc. I will give you a shout out on my Booksta and link to this video once I get mine set up and personalized a bit! I made me a copy, now I hope I can get some use of it under 2023. I like to track my reading, but have never have anything like a spreadsheet. I have put a blogpost on my blog for every month what I have read under the month and have after the years end put a year of reading together by myself so I hope your spreadshet may help me.

This is almost perfect. Just a suggestion for next year's. In addition to pages, those of us who listen to audiobooks, maybe include a column to put the time length of the audiobook. Oh well,ccan't have everything. Thank you so much for doing it and offering it as a free download for those of us who aren't as tech savvy.. Is there aso a way that we an see how many DNFs we have each month? Next year, maybe?

As I don’t track either of those things any more I don’t include them, but if you want one that does have them included, you can see my 2021 version linked in the description. You might need to update the dates in that stats page but it does include audio and a DNF tracker.

Silly question as I just started tracking. If you started a book in Jan but finished in feb do you count that for the month you started or finished?

It depends on how you want it to count (because it will depend on which month you select from the drop down menu). Personally if I finished it in a different month I'd count it in the month I finished the book in, not the one I started it in, but it's up to you.

Not in this video. You can always Google/RU-vid how to do it or grab my 2022 spreadsheet which already has a drop-down menu for sub-genre added.

oooohhh I'm a sucker for reading spreadsheets!! This is so pretty and detailed! omg can you help me with something, I have a reading tracker and I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get some things to automatically calculate, similar to your summary page where it automatically tracks how many read or unread ect but it's in numbers... like how do you get a word (e.g. "read") to translate to a number (e.g. 10 books read in a month) in a tracker way ..... I don't know if that makes sense

Thank you! Okay - so I had forgotten how I did this originally but I actually use the monthly books read to calculate the total and then use =SUM(Statistics!C10:C21) - where C10:C21 is the monthly totals. The monthly totals are calculated using COUNTIF where it counts how many books are marked by month in the ReadingLog. I'm not sure if that helps? You could always make a copy of mine and check the calculations and modify for what you're using? But it's definitely one of the reasons I have a month drop down and the actual dates.

Hi! Am I doing something wrong for pages tracked? I put in the dates and it isn’t showing anything on the summary sheet.

You may need to update the dates in the formula for the page tracker. Since you're commenting on the 2023 spreadsheet I'm assuming you're using that one. You'll need to update them for 2024 (or go to my 2024 spreadsheet and copy it across).
