From all the research I have done on towing with a 4Runner, 4th gear is supposedly the most effective gear for towing. Keeping it in "S" mode limits your transmission from shifting to 5th gear, as it limits the gear range from 1 to 4.

@@4Runner21 I do feel a slight vibration in the steering wheel at 60 mph only. I've read that this is a normal characteristic of 4Runners, similar (but not as drastic) as the death wobble in Jeeps.

@@ZetaDogProductions very true most def not that insane wobble. I’m still on the fence at times at whether I’m willing to over look this characteristic of the 4Runner given its proven reliability because it bugs me lol, especially going over bumps in the road it feels worst. Thanks for the feedback. Have you experienced this more over bumps also? Ty! And you have an awesome rig!

@@4Runner21 Thanks for the kind words! The vibration on mine goes away at around 65 mph, and honestly, I don't even notice it much anymore. I don't get it when going over bumps. Do you have the Dunlaps or Nitro Grapplers? I wonder how much difference different tires makes.

@@ZetaDogProductions I was thinking maybe the tires are the cause, but they are so new, I would hate to buy new ones. I have the DUNLOP AT20 GRANDTREK 265/70/17

Definitely when it comes time for tires, a different brand will be sampled lol

@@robertonunez9621 There's no "eco mode" per se. The eco light kicks on when you are maximizing fuel economy by not pushing the vehicle. You can turn the light off in the center stack settings.

No transmission cooler included. I might add one down the road for peace of mind. Also, nice videos lately!

@@ryanb8736 At 3,000 lbs, I find that the counterweight of the trailer helps mitigate the nose dive. The brake controller also does a nice job of helping with braking. I found no issues with stability at 70-75 mph on some highway stretches.

@@ryanb8736 I towed the bigger u-haul enclosed 12 foot trailer with my 21 4Runner , trailer was fully packed to the ceiling and could definitely feel the weight back there. My guess was probably close to 4K pounds maybe. I didn’t feel to confident over 65mph but nonetheless it got the job done.

I just traded a gx460 in for a 4Runner. If you think the nose dive is bad on a 4Runner. You’d be miserable with a Gx. I swapped the shocks to bolstering and it improved it dramatically.
