What’s up guys! This is the all new 2nd generation of the Chevy Trax! It’s new for 2024, and it’s wider, longer, and has more tech! What are your thoughts? Like, comment, subscribe, and take care! 🙂 Vehicle link below… www.twinfalls-...
Its not going to blow anyone away, but I wish more manufacturers would concentrate on the lower end like this. The market needs more vehicles for commuting that an average working person can afford. Ones that are decent sized and decent looking.
Yeah man, it’s crazy how little car manufacturers seem to care about producing cars working people can afford. I’m shocked GM is making a car like this, this is completely out of character for the way they have been behaving in the last decade
I completely agree. It's frustrating that manufacturers have been focusing so heavily on expensive vehicles. Ford is especially bad right now. Their cheapest vehicle, that's not a pickup, starts at $28k. They don't even sell sedans or hatchbacks any longer, which undoubtedly would be sold for less. That's madness for a domestic, non-luxury brand.
Picked up my 2RS a couple of weeks ago. Completely awesome! Great on gas and does feel more powerful than the stats. Already took a round trip from Los Angeles to Vancouver Canada.
All of the complaints that I’m seeing about this car are so petty. It’s a $23k car in 2023. You’re getting a LOT of bang for you buck considering what the used car market is looking like rn. Most 2018 suvs with 50k+ kms cost more money than this. To be able to purchase a brand new suv right now for $23k is pretty insane. Not to mention it looks great. You get all the exterior feel of a $40k+ vehicle & then the interior isn’t anything insane for this trim specifically but it gets the job done while also having some touches of modern tech. Heated steering wheel, heated seats, driver focused touch screen. I think this is a job well done from GM.
I find it silly when people say I only want this feature that is on the Trailblazer, then buy one. I think for the cost, this car has everything I need. I live in one of the snowiest states in the country and while AWD would be nice, I have never had it and get around just fine.
Thank you for your comment! I have been very nervous about losing my AWD 2018 Trax for the 2024 1RS with front wheel drive. Your comment makes me feel a bit better.
I just traded in my 2018 AWD LT Trax for a 2024 1RS. My 2024 1RS has the blind spot monitoring. The 2024 smaller, 1 less cylinder engine is faster at lower rev. It seems like my 18 Trax would wind up to 5000 RPM and be at the same power/speed as the 2024 winding up to 3500 RPM. The 2024 has a nice rumble to it. The 2018 sounded good but my bro said it was sucking up all the rocks in the road. Meaning it sounded like a vacuum. I had no issue with the acceleration of the 2018 and the 2024 is faster so i am happy. I had AWD in my 2018 and i miss that but i am doing fine in the snow with the stock all season tires on the 2024. I had Falkin Wild Peak tires on my 2018 AWD Trax and it was a snow beast for sure! People and mechanics would report issues with the turbos on the 1.4L 2013 to 2022 failing but i had mine for about 23,000 miles and only had 1 issue with the car and it was the coil pack. I am hoping the 2024 1RS is as good of a car as the 2018 LT was.
I bought this specific trim largely because it had analog gauges. When I was a kid in the 80s, digital gauges were very trendy, then the fad died away.
@@leolionz3692 It would be sick if it was compatible with the 2023 TrailBlazer's AWD system, though I believe the 2024 Trax is a longer vehicle. That could possibly indicate that the redesigned Trax could get the AWD system in the near future.
This car is awesome, the power is so good and it is enough to drive any kinds of free way road, which ever 75 miles per hour or 80 miles per hour is really great, I just bought mine and shes 2 weeks and and did really great, I just drove it from arizona to california straight with nothing shutting down the engine only stop by on some rest area, %100 will recommend to my friends and family
I can remember when a 10 second zero to sixty was better than average. I had a 1980 Oldsmobile diesel that probably took about twice that long. I also had a 1981 Oldsmobile Cutlass with a V6 that was very, very slow.
Lol, right?! I had a friend in high school with a very old Mustang 2 and we once stop watch timed 0-60. It took 28 seconds before we had to stop at like 57MPH because the road was ending, lol. 🙂
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 The diesel was only 1 year old when I bought it. I had it checked by a diesel specialist and I was told that everything was fine. I drove it for 3 months and got rid of it. I bought the Cutlass new and while it was better than the diesel it could barely get out of it’s own way.
This is my favorite trim--the 1RS in Nitro Yellow, with the optional sunroof, and most importantly it has the "switch-blade" key! That "straitjacket" seat belt definitely secured that bag in place. The panning of your camera has improved just a tad, overall, awesome review.
I'm waiting for my 1rs to get here its in New Jersey I'm in Burlington ont they say mid October delivery if I don't like it there is a list of people who do they are hard to find 😮
If you don’t get the answer here, I would recommend asking on a social media Trax forum to get even more answers and perspectives. Thanks for watching! 🙂
I bought one a few days ago. If I remember I’ll give an update to my comment a year from now. I needed a commuter but I also can not afford 2 cars so this is everything for me. Long trips winter driving and work. I did have jeep renegade it road horribly and had a bunch of problems from the back rattling to leaking oil of out a machining bolt they forgot to tighten down, I didn’t have my renegade for a few months last summer, weird thumping in the left front. It was only 2 years old with 18k miles on it. Only thing I’ll miss is the 4x4 but I used to drive fwd all the time in the snow so shouldn’t be a problem with winter tires.
bought 1 arrives nov. 24th Love the snappy style. Getting Crimson Red.1rs Priced right...for sure. Best car i ever owned. 2009 HHR SS 5 speed. Fun. Fast
I think you’re spot on! And honestly for it costing similar with inflation to what those economy Chevy cars of the past 20 years were, GM did a pretty good job with this platform, I’d say! 🙂
I ordered the 2RS just waiting for the call from my salesman so excited for it. Put a deposit down so nobody can drive it it’s going to be a hot seller ordered what I wanted so I don’t have to pick from whatever is available.
I'm liking that idea of an SS model, though I'd suspect an engine like the 2.0L turbo they used previously would be the better choice. Aside from that, it invokes memories of some of my favorite GM cars, and with the need to cut costs something I am considering.
I think you’re absolutely right, the 2.0T already set up for FWD from a few of the GM cars about 10 years ago would have been perfect in this. I actually just posted a review of the 2025 Trax yesterday. Thanks for watching! 🙂
I really appreciate you and especially this comment, lol. 🙂 I have no idea how I said that on both Trax videos, I just edited out that frame. Hahaha 🤷♂️🤣🤦♂️
@@alexeckes3128 i never got the one i've ordered,i found and purchase a 2RS in White from another dealer and i love it,got it 3 weeks ago great vehicle but of course there is some minor stuff that i dont like but thats the way it is
I love the new Trax especially the 2R/S but I’m not sold on the 3 cylinder engine. If Chevy would offer an optional 4 cylinder Id get one in a heartbeat. Id gladly pay $1,000 or so more for an SS version over the R/S if they at least gave you the 175 hp 1.5 I4 from the Equinox with a dual outlet exhaust. I wouldn’t be surprised if the gas mileage would even improve a little or at least stay the same with a 4 cylinder option That doesn’t have to struggle and doesn’t require a balance shaft and counterweights to make it run smoothly.
I’ve honestly not seen very many new Trax available to review, since I found these a year ago. But I’ll keep them in mind, they’re such a good reasonable car!
Looking forward to driving one. It'll be our second vehicle for around town so don't need power. Curious if a set of golf clubs can fit across the back end of trunk.
That’s a good question, I’m not sure, I think it would be close. I did try to look up interior measurements for another viewer who asked that question and there weren’t any posted online at the time. It’s a new vehicle and so not as abundantly is the internet specs a we should have soon. Or if I review another one I’ll bring a measuring tape, lol. 🙂
General Motors is going to add all wheel drive the second year because of all the competition has all wheel drive either standard or as an option and the cost won't be that much difference.
Agreed...that's why I'm kinda holding off from buying one now. Kinda hope they make it optional to get more HP like the Trailblazer does. If it had at least 150 HP I'd be interested. Can only hope
Consumer Reports is great, especially since they’re independent. But I don’t often look at their content, I’m sorry Doc, lol. With how new this model is, I already had some difficulty finding the specs I like to know and mention, lol. 🤷♂️🙂
That's what concerns me...the long term reliability of that 3 cylinder engine. One of the main reasons I'm holding off from buying one now. I might wait a year
It needs a bigger 4 cylinder engine with at least another 40HP and 40 Ft Lb of Torque. Disposable 3 cyl go cart engine, no thanks. But everything else looks really good.
Oh oops! Yeah only the Blazer has the 3.6 V6, not the TB. Good catch! 🙂 I personally really like the Blazer, it feels like the crossover version of a V6 Camaro.
Right there with ya on wanting them to bring a more potent SS model. With Camaro demise, it might be perfect time to hang on to some of their buyers that might have been considering a lower spec Camaros. IF chevy produces enough of these, they offer a ton in the $22-25K range and it has far more road presence than previous generation or the compact crossover competitors. An SS model $28-30K would be quite tempting.
I’m no expert on cleaning products, but one of my favorite for car interiors that I use (it was actually a gift) is Simoniz Protectant. It’s for rubber, leather, vinyl, etc. I also use it on my leather work shoes and I’ve been very happy with it. I’ve also heard good things about 303 and Chemical Guys, but I haven’t used their products yet.
The Blazer and Trailblazer are two different vehicles. When you reference the Trailblazer, in several instances I believe you mean the Blazer. V6 engine for a possible SS version, etc.
That’s also what I’ve noticed, lol. Maybe it’s partially the judgement expectations that reviewers have vs. the owners who are thankful to own them and each of their respective past experiences with vehicles owned vs. high end vehicles reviewed. But idk. Thanks for watching! 🙂
That’s a good question, I wouldn’t be surprised if it’s actually quite reliable. GM engineers have made quite a few small turbo engines by this point, but time shall tell. I totally agree about the pricing! 🙂
I honestly think that this Trax could be a really good vehicle. I’ve seen good reliability in the 1.4T engine that was like the predecessor to GM economy cars from the last generation. But I honestly would have to go with the Subaru, assuming it’s the current generation, just a few years old, but still under warranty. I think they’re more safe, more capable, and a very good overall proven/thought out platform. But that’s just my opinion/bias. Best of luck in whatever you decide! 🙂
Not sure if you have made your decision but I just traded my Crosstrek for this vehicle and I wouldn't go back to the Subaru this car is worlds better imo and I used to love my Subaru
That’s a good question. I’m not sure about these new ones but the older 1.4 turbos that GM used were known to be reliable motors but have a lot of accessories failures on all the bolt on parts starting at around 60k miles. 😢
@@AutomotiveAnonymous208 I currently have a 2007 F150 Triton V8 pickup truck. I'm going to have to trade it before long. The shop I go to told me the timing gears are getting worn. Not good. Unfortunately even good used pickup is more or as my house cost which is not doable for me
I hear you. Personally I would look to Japanese cars especially Honda or Toyota in your price range for max reliability. Naturally aspirated engine with a timing chain preferably. Just my opinion.
Yes, from Idle until 2-2.5K there is lag, you gotta remember this engine is to tiny that without boost it’s just a 1.2L, even at peak HP/TQ RPM the output is adequate but not much more than that. 🙂
Lol 😝, if you think that’s impressive check out the 78HP 1.2 Liter Mitsubishi Mirage I did a few weeks ago. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-i4yAG9KteEg.html
At least there’s more room under the hood to work on it if it does have issues. Sometimes little economy turbo engines are known for having cooling or accessory issues.
That’s a great point! One of the big trade offs with buying a modern day economy focused vehicle while the road speeds and other vehicles have only gotten faster.
@lestat8656 because, my car is a little faster and it's scary on the freeway. This is even slower I can't imagine passing people or trying to without getting run over by speeding cars. Lol
@@Fyahking619 I don't think that's the case, it's not an old diesel truck. It has a turbo engine and 0-60 in 8-9 secs should be more than enough to merge or pass...
Not true and I hate when people say this and it’s usually people commenting when they don’t drive a vehicle like this in their every day trips. I currently have a 2019 Mitsubishi Mirage ES with this same engine with the 78 horsepower and have never had an issue getting on the freeway or passing. Not to mention the great gas mileage. Currently trading in my mirage for a Nitro yellow 1RS Trax.
It’s crazy that 10 years ago 25K was a pretty nice car, heck even the old Pontiac G8 GTs we’re roughly 30k. And now McDonald’s pays 30k a year and a car like this can nearly be slowly paid for on an income level similar to that.
