2024 Civic Type R Review - Integra Type S owner perspective 

I have a 24 CW Type R with 20K Miles. I love to drive it everyday

It’s funny how the EK9 CTR was basically just an engine, transmission, and four wheels, and this thing is a rolling supercomputer. I also appreciate your commentary on the reality of daily driving something like the CTR on roads other than super-smooth highways outside of the snow belt. Here in the northeast, the “pothole slalom” is part of my daily commute.

The cabin noise is so loud when on the highway! I'll stick with the type S

Excellent review! I just picked up my FL5 and I’m so pumped to drive it each time. Coming from a Fiesta ST this thing amazes me constantly. And I was lucky enough to find one at MSRP.

the FL5 generation has won a lot of hearts and minds, when it first came out. The markups are freaking bad, local dealer had 2 with 15k markups

I run it mostly on individual with the ride on comfort anyway and everything else on race/R 😆 Sometimes I’ll put it in R mode because I like that lowered firm bounce feeling on a smooth road only . almost 3 months and 7000 miles on my FL5- as my commuter+fun car all in one its been fantastic. I got mine for MSRP as well, but I wish i could have found one in red haha two things I don't like though- stock suspension is a bit too stiff for most American roads- ITS ADS is a must IMO, especially since the car is also riding on 19s+thin sidewall, and the lack of an auto dimming mirror for something that's $46k lol

Great video brother I agree with everything you said in here except that part about me not being able to find the washer fluid cap 👀 My goal is to eventually buy a red Type R like the one you have in the video here and pair it up with my Boost Blue Type R just for the sake of unity lol. 🙏🏿

The Type S is basically the same thing with just a little more luxury. I like the steering wheel on the S; perforated leather feels nice in the hand

You ain't lying about these being hard to find. I went with the GR Corolla though... mad respect for the Type R. I'd get the Type R over the Integra Type S. I'd take mine in white though

That red kind of reminds me of the Mugen RR Type R from 2007 that only came in red. These new type R’s are fast but the Mugen RR (FD2 type R’s in general) sheeeesh. 9k RPM High revving monsters. Ofcourse, they were never sold here in America 🤦🏾‍♂️

Almost bought a white Type S. Several dealers were willing to go below MSRP on them. But then I drove one. For a luxury car it lacked some pretty basic luxury features. And the seats just weren’t good. Having owned an FK8, I really loved how comfortable those seats were. Then I found an FL5 for MSRP and it was a no brainer. In my state we pay a luxury tax on cars over 50k. We also pay property tax on our cars every year. So the FL5 just made sense. The Type S didn’t offer enough luxury or performance to warrant the extra cash. Styling aside, dollar for dollar the FL5 is the better get.

With the countless videos I've watched the conclusion is that the Integra type s is a more livable car to drive "Day by Day" than the Civic Type R.Both good looking cars but for me its gonna be "Integra Type S" all day baby.✌🏼👍🏼👊🏼

Still much prefer the GR Corolla to the Civic Type R. If I lived a place without snow, rain, etc. and better roads, it would probably a much closer comparison to me. Love the aesthetics of the Type R though!

I’ve got dealers in my area still asking 15 to 20k over MSRP. I was lucky to find a dealer that was tacking on the usual “protection package, but at 2k instead of the 12k that other dealers want for the same thing. Yes the protection package was overpriced for what it is, but when you add it up it was only about $800 more than what it was worth. So I got a Sonic Grey for an $800 markup and I jumped on it. I know people by default seem to call the ITS a “luxury” or “entry level luxury” car, but honestly to me the CTR feels more premium. I definitely prefer the Alcantara door and armrest trim over the fake leather in the ITS. It feels more special. And the seats… Man, the seat bottoms in my ITS felt like you were sitting on plywood after a while. By comparison the Type R seats feel like you’re sitting on a big pack of Cottonelle TP. I added the optional Alcantara steering wheel, swapped the shift boot for an Alcantara one, swapped the damping module for the one out of the ITS, as well as installing the ITS’s Active Sound generator. The normal pumped in fake engine noise in the Type R just sounds like electronic buzzing and it’s annoying. The fake engine sound from the ITS at least has more of a growl to it. It actually sounds like Acura was trying to replicate the sound out of the DC2 Integra. Huge improvements all around. The car is as perfect as it’s going to get.

Man just get a GT4 or even the Cayman GTS

It looks much better than the Honda Civic, but at its core it is a Civic 4 door econobox. So it like a challenge to the designers, how good can you make this grandma's 4 door econobox look? And they did make it look a hell of a lot better than the base one. That said, it is not a "beautiful" car, a 2 door coupe or anything nice looking.
