The cost of most boats has gone through the roof in the past few years. Could the small center console fishing boat market be the exception to this rule? Probably not. Although $26K sounds like a bargain, one must temper that enthusiasm with the realization that this only represents a 13' boat with a 6' beam and a 6.5 gallon gas tank.
In this video, I walk-through offerings under 22' from Boston Whaler, Stingray, Robalo, Grady White and Blackfin.

I like the blackfin. Be nice if instead of pull out cooler it was a tackle storage work center.

The Robalo explorer is the reason for the big back bench. Different model it folds up out of the way

You’re not going to get ripped apart by me, its VERY hard to beat the quality of a Blackfin and the price. The hardware, materials, craftsmanship, they are outstanding. Its interesting you mention them being overbuilt because I’ve said that for a long time. Driving a 272 it like driving a tank, its truly ab experience and I imagine its their carbon fiber/fiberglass mix hulls and stringers that make it so. They are great boats, couldn’t agree more.

Blackfin is too angular/bruise maker squared of edges, it also has so many nooks and crannies to catch debris, they look cool but better hire someone else to keep it clean, too much black water spot magnets 😊

Thanks for doing videos on more affordable boats! I was hoping hear your thoughts on the Edgewater 208. I think it’s the best 20 footer money can buy! But love to hear your opinion on that!?!

Too many Boat Manufactures means very, very, very poor economies of scale - get 40% off of their regular price because every boat at the show that wasn't custom was 25% to 30% plus of their MSRP what ever that is ; P

On the Grady you didn’t open the helm door ? I have the 180, and from what I could see mine has more walkable / fishable space. Too much fiberglass and emphasis on seating and bling ( on all these boats ). Also mine has a larger single fish box and livewell. A 60 gallon fuel tank and a 12” Simrad. I choose the 180 because I trailer and didn’t want to be dealing with brakes ( again) and the constant threat of rising fuel prices. As far as the prices of these boats they’re all on drugs. I’ll stick with what I have. Great job I expect to see an on the water review of your new boat soon. Thanks.

I've had the 180 and now I have the 216. Loved that 180 to death and hated to sell it, but the 216 is twice the boat.

@@duffmeister6480 Pretty close, I paid less than that boat show price though and with a 250. I live on a lake so boat stays on a lift but we do trailer it to the beach a couple times a year.

Stingray v Grady: for that price difference, what are you getting besides a name and a slightly larger engine? I don't get it. As always, great video John!

I have a new Grady 216, this exact boat in the video except I have the 250. To answer your question, it's a lot of little things that ultimately make for a much nicer boat. It's also MUCH heavier than the Stingray, hence the larger engines, so it ends up being much safer and more capable than something like the Stingray. That said, I'm sure the Stingray is a great boat at that price point and it's great that there are lots of options like this to fit different budgets.
