I own a 2020 Signature. Low miles. Other then a smaller screen it's the same. I've owned many new vehicles but this easily the best car for the money. It's almost perfect.

Dude this smokes any entry Audi and BMW. Dealer near us wants 51k for a Q3 which goes to 60k. A Q5 from them is 61k minimum. CX-5 Signatures with the turbo go for 47k tops and you get a more luxurious interior vs the Q3 and Q5 which look so cheap wow. Sorry I love BMW but I would rock a CX-5 easily to save on cost and more value for the money... :)

In 2021 the CX-5 was the ONLY compact SUV to get a Good on the updated IIHS side impact test. An impressive feat alone considering that includes every other automaker (including much larger and luxury makers), but it's even more impressive when you consider that the CX-5's platform has been around with minimal change to the fundamentals since 2013

Just upgraded from a jeep compass to mazda cx 5 signature... dammn what a difference. The value ihere is amazing. My only adjustment is I love my fat wrapped steering wheel on the compass. This skinny slippery steering makes me have to grab tighter for control.

One other thing, Ben, I have a BMW which has I-Drive; BMW'S rotary dial control system. I thought I would never become acclimated to it. As usual, I was wrong. I love it now, and prefer it to a touch screen which takes your eyes off the road I feel. Thanks again, Ben.

22 Cx5 Signature owner here and I love it. Going on 2 years of ownership. I planned to keep it after lease because it’s almost Lexus like! But the poor fuel economy is driving me crazy, 16-17mpg the first year. Second year, got up to 18mpg. With $6.75 a gallon in my city i feel stupid he had the small tank size and low mpg is not making it better. A half a tank of fuel gets me 137 miles of range.

I am on my 3rd CX-5, but it's my first with the turbo; the same '22 Signature model as you. I got rid of the OEM oil and I use full sythetic Mobil 1. Also, for whatever reason, I get the best mileage using 91 octane. The difference in mpg is worth it. Finally, I have no real mobility in my left leg, & my right leg hurts, too, but I can use it to drive. The MRCC, automatic cruise control with stop & go driving, has been improved over the years. It's one of my favorite features now. For these reasons, I use the auto cruise all the time. I usually set my distance to the car in front at the maximum allowed, and around town, I let the engine slow me down for stop lights or signs by just reducing the set speed to the minimum 19 mph. It took me a while to get used to driving with the steering wheel only, but since I first put the synthetic oil in along with the 91 octane, I have averaged 31 mpg over 5500 miles. Several times over the past 5500 miles I have gone back to normal driving on mountain roads in TN, but that's all a part of the 31 mpg as well. On the Highway, I leave the cruise at the speed limit, which is usually 70 mph. If I find a semi truck that is also set around 70 mph, i just follow it, & the MRCC is very smooth speeding up or slowing down. I use the auto climate control with the windows up. FWIW, I can't get more than 23 mpg doing this with 87 octane. I also feel the power loss. I've used 93 octane as well, but the results were almost exactly the same as 91 octane, so 91 octane makes the most sense in my case. Hope this helps!

I call BS on your "16-17mpg", unless you're driving like a maniac all the time or driving in horrible stop and go stuff all the time. My wife and I average 23-24 mpg in our 2023 CX-5 Signature. On the low end in city driving, I can get 20mpg if I'm not taking it easy. Better, like 22mpg, if I take it easy. And that's city driving. If I cruise on the highway at 75mph or below it will do 30mpg with ease on the highway. Upper 20s at higher speed.

I obsessed over car research until finally going with a '23 Signature and I do not regret it one bit! I've watched all the videos and reviews, but I honestly think this is still so underrated. When you consider long term cost of upkeep, reliability, repair costs, and upfront purchase price, this beats everyone imho. It out performed an Audi Q5 I drove for a while for work and the cost of upkeep is so much lower than the German competition in general. You also don't need to run premium fuel like the luxury brands. I compared it to the Carbon and the Turbo trims and my wife actually preferred the Signature with the caturra brown Napa leather. Crazy, my wife actually pushing me to get the higher trim lol. I've also driven the Rav4, Forester, Escape, CR-V, Sportage, and Tucson and the CX-5 Signature is SO MUCH nicer! The Rav4 felt like a cheap plasticky toy (also had a weird burning smell on a brand new one) and the only other one we considered is the Forester which we loved for comfort and visibility, but it was so weak and anemic under the hood. My wife will probably get a Forester then we have the best of both worlds. I was a Toyota guy for 20yrs, but the CX-5 has converted me to Mazda 100%

I just got the 2024 CX-5 signature. I do believe the extra ≈ 2.5k over the turbo plus are worth it. You get all the sensors, the 360 camera, the off road navigation, and some other perks that, granted, will be irrelevant for most people. You can powder coat or change the wheels and you get the best of both worlds. As someone who shopped around for a "luxury badge" before getting the signature, I can confidently say that to get everything this car provides without compromising you'd have to spend 57k+ at Audi, 53k+ at Lexus, or 55k+ at Alfa Romeo. I test drove all of those cars, and the cabins are worse or just as nice. Really, the absolute best deal out there is the CX-5 Signature of you're looking for that plush feeling accompanied by power and fun driving dynamics.

I have a 2019 CX-5 Signature w/ 75,000 trouble free miles so far and I love it. It's almost perfect. My only regret is that the dark brown leather is TOO DARK!, almost black. I'd love it if it was a lighter brown or saddle tan color, similar to the new Carbon Turbo interior. My MPG is not bad , considering it's a turbo and can use regular gas. I get 21-23 in city driving and 27-29 on the Interstate. IMO, it's better than cars costing $10-15,000 more.

Except for the paddle shifters, 360 deg. cameras and grille/headlights this is identical to my 2019 CX-5 Grand Touring Reserve. The 2.5 L. turbo has a LOT of torque. Handling is best for its price range and styling is excellent. I've upgraded mine with CORK SPORT intercooler and down pipes. I definitely get better throttle response. But I ALWAYS use 91 octane gas (her in Nevada and west of theMississippi that's the top octane. Easterners get 93 octane.Soesometmes I add 5 gallons of 100 octant a tank. ZOOM! ZOOM!

We have the same shoes... I ordered a 2024 cx-5 signature because in Mexico is the only trim with turbo, but i like the trims sold in the US with black details better. Another difference is here we dont get AWD unless you go with the CX-50 which is too big for a single man and his dog. Maybe thats why its a bit cheaper here at 39,576 USD at current exchange rate after taxes. Should i wait for a CX-70 or do you think a CX5 Signature without AWD is still a good value?
@vinnie4400
@vinnie4400 8 месяцев назад
jmho, but in terms of features and content, the Signature is hard to beat. The top of the line CX-90 has ventilated seats, and it's selling for $58k for the PHEV Premium Plus, and $62k for the Turbo S Premium Plus. The only way I'm going to be able to get all the features & content in the CX-70 is with the Premium Plus Turbo S, which is going to be priced right on top of the CX-90 models. I have also been told by 2 different dealerships that the CX-70 will be the same wheel base as the CX-90, basically giving it the largest 2nd row room & cargo capacity in the segment. To spend 50% more money just doesn't seem worth it. If Mazda really does kill the CX-5 after the 2024 MY, then I might get one of the last new ones available late next year.

Long time subscriber. (LTS, for short). Ben, I wouldn't subscribe to your vlog unless I was assured you were not a shallow parasite, which you most certainly are not. You always invite comments. So here is one. Whenever you are describing the power capabilities of the Mazda 2.5 Turbo, you seem to focus on its lower BHP when running on regular gas (87 octane or lower): 227 BHP. This is a significant decrease in power from running on premium gas: 256 BHP. According to your figures the torque output also suffers on regular gas: 310 lb/ft versus 320 lb/ft. The Mazda website does not provide the regular gas torque output for the turbo. I do not know how many different gasoline octanes are permitted in Utah. In Pennsylvania, where I live, several different octanes are sold from 93 high, 87 mid-grade to 83 low. Some companies, like Sunoco, offer more choices with octanes in between the 3 levels I listed. In California, I understand that only one grade is available from all the stations: 91 octane. However, I have no direct personal knowledge of this. Haven't been to Cali in several years. It would be great if you could give the premium gas BHP and torque outputs as well as those for regular gas when available from the manufacturer. There can be quite a difference such as there is with the Mazda 2.5 Turbo. Thanks for all your great work, Ben.

Some companies imitate luxury car's interior. Have to check how solid the overall car is built. Materials, road feel, handling, road noise, wind noise, heavy doors, etc. Mazda cars have all that. I owned lexus all my life. When I seats in mazda, I feel it's very close to luxury

Yeah, they might “look” more flashy but they don’t feel nearly as nice and I can assure you they won’t hold up as well in the long run. Both Kia and Nissan are known for poor interior longevity and squeaks/rattles out of warranty.
