Climbed Mather Pass this morning, one of the more thrilling climbs. Started from mile 816.9 and hiked to 832.2, then hiked another 3.5 miles of the Bishop Pass Trail towards town. Channel Support Venmo: @Steven-Vaught-7
Ducey Basin Beauty. You captured the essence as well as a mechanical eye can. You were able to bring some of the absolute magnificence to the screen and it is so appreciated by those of us watching from home. Thank you so much- Well done!
Holy Freaking Incredible views and Waterfalls Lil'Chap!!! What an amazing day! Thanks so much for sharing this video and for taking us on your journey!!! - Shybee
You have a brilliant eye for a good view. You’re ace at putting together a stunning panorama. Thanks for all the hard work in sharing these scenes with us.
Oh My God, the water shots!!!!! UNREAL and beyond gorgeous!!!!! This trail is so different in tons of ways. Every shot looks like a calendar shot. Every one!!! Thank you for videoing and showing us what it's like!
I’ve spent a lot of time in the Sierra between Cottonwood Lakes and Tahoe and always find it incredibly beautiful (except during Smokey wildfires) but the images in this video just made me say WOW! never tire of the beauty.
I enjoy watching your videos so much because your love of nature shines through. How lucky you are to be able to hike in such a beautiful place. The scenes that you show are breathtaking. I so enjoy watching them. I love when you show the wildlife also! You also come off as a very warm and friendly person which is so nice to see. Safe hiking and enjoy the beauty that surrounds you!
That's awesome, some great views, been fallowing DJ sents his start.. purty cool to see you guys come together... The different video styles are awesome
Not that I don't like your narration, I do, but I watched this a second time with no volume so I could concentrate on the incredible scenery. Stunning stuff you captured.
Damn, You have to time your hike for snow, But then you have to deal with run off. Seeing how fast that water is, It is almost worth dealing with more snow. Be safe. You guys are doing awesome.
I typed on someone else’s video of Mather that they have had the best views of the season but I thought I was adding the. Comment to your channel. The other persons was ok but. It comparable really lol
Beautiful campsite! That pass looked sooooo steep! I know it's hard to capture on camera, but man, you did a great job of showing how incredibly steep it was. Love the meadows, marmots, and roiling rivers of snowmelt ❤ Congrats to you all on another pass! 👏
Stunning video! Hard work but obviously well worth the work, sweat, and effort. That water though… that is some crazy force. You all keep it safe and thanks for sharing your journey.
Great job in the Sierra so far, I hope there is a zero or two in the near future in Mammoth or Bishop. I see so many hiker's getting burned out in the Sierra's. I think you cannot simply tough it out from end to end of the Sierra's. However, I know you guys(Hammerwood, Wedding planner(I mean fire ball), and the rest of your Sierra company will take full advantage of the breaks.
It looks steep to me. Especially when the view is in relation to other hikers. Good thing you had DJ spell it because close captioning sure didn't spell it right! Wow y'all are beasts hiking seriously long days. Y'all more than deserve a town day (or 2).
Great effort today. We had lots of snow and rock scrambling on the north side of Mather Pass last year in early August. Much of trails that were flowing creeks, tremendous amounts of blow downs in the Palisade Basin below the Golden Staircase. Not sure if it was a wind storm or an avalanche. Rain most days at anytime. You all had it much harder than us. Enjoy Bishop. 🍺🍺🍺
You guys are doing great. I wish there was not so much water. Unfortunately, it looks like it is going to get worse. Bishop and Mammoth were my favorite towns. Enjoy.
Could you have taken more "zero" days in Independence, Lone Pine, Mammoth, etc? It's cool to see a fellow (CDG) Chrome Dome Gang member rip through those mountains, but damn dude...slow down!😂 You're going to be done with the PCT in another week and I'll have nothing to watch. Lol
You might have already mentioned this but what apps are you using to gather the intel about trail conditions, best navigation at certain spots, upcoming trail magic, detours to town, etc? Loving what you do and am living vicariously through your vids! Thanks, Paul Sanders
You guys are crushing it! I'm doing a five day trip in this area in just a few weeks (I live near Reno). Looking forward to some of these views! Snow is melting pretty fast up around Lake Tahoe as it's been pretty warm lately. Good luck!
Hi Lil'Chap I notice in this video That when you finished the pass your garmin read 3:33. These "angel number often tie into your walk thru life or possible what is in front of you .One of the meanings is "The angel number 333 can have multiple meanings, including: Success It can indicate that you are on the right path to success and that you should trust your skills and intuition to help you reach your goals. It can also be a reminder that you have what it takes to succeed, even when you are feeling stressed or confused. Thank you for all you do it is a blessing to follow you .Muck Love and gratitude safe travels on your adventure
Unfortunately I'm sure you found snow at the top of Bishop, and perhaps a somewhat sketchy descent if you stayed on trail. Despite the substantial challenges, I love that y'all never lost sight of the true wonder out there. Count me as one who never tires of you noting the beauty. [Warning, humble brag ahead: I've done a 16 day, as well as several 7+ day food carries in the High Sierra, and the Range of Light is worth every hardship. And if you get off the PCT/JMT corridor there is plenty of solitude to soak up too.] What part(s) have enjoyed most thus far?
Does going days without a fresh green vegetable create any GI issues for you or others in your group? I wonder if living on protein, freeze-dried meals and high carb processed food has an adverse effect?
The opposite actually. It seems the “issues” begin once we get to town and start eating veggies. This is a short term observation. Certainly fresh greens and needed!
Yes, they resupplied at Kearsarge Pass and did the Skurka “up and over” route to go around the bridge. Most people did that option as it was only 3ish miles.
From looking at the footage of your tramily hiking up and down from the pass, I think it is important to tell you that you should rethink the way you hike in alpine. You do not use an ice axe AND a trekking pole at the same time. You have no chance of self arresting like that if needed. This takes away the whole point of using an ice axe. Also going down from the pass. It's just plain wrong. With Mather pass, you had a clear and easy rock scrable to the left of the cornice to go up. Nothing even technical. You chose to go tackle the cornice directly and with an ice axe/trekking pole combo. That was a bad call. I'm glad of course that you made it safely. What I'm trying to get to is, you should work on your skills. You got a good area to do so, the Sierra Nevada, which are quite easy this time of year. Especially where the PCT goes through. Enjoy your time there. It's magical.
