I got a kick watching your children press every button they could. I think they really enjoy that machine. You have a nice family, enjoy them while they are young. Great memories with dad.
Hey Drake, Thank you for videos, I did the sound barrier with with RezoNix product's and had some awesome results with me and the wife’s thoughts! My going copy paste from the Xpedition forum what I did!!! Polaris should take note lol….So I finally finished up with the rear floor and fire wall on the XP5 and feel that I really made a good improvement on the engine noise! So here’s what I used, First. Killmat and Rezonix pro CLD squares first layer, Second. I replaced the felt liner and installed RezoNix lead sound barrier cut to size of the felt liner and bolted to the fire wall like the felt liner was. Third. Cut RezoNix fiber mat 45 to the size of felt liner but just straight across at the bottom and install over the sound barrier. Installed upper back set (it was a tight fit). Installed some more RezoNix pro CLD squares on parts of the lower sections back area walls and installed lower half of the seat. Installed Dynadeck on the rear floor. The wife and I jumped in went out for the test. Didn’t take us long at all both of us said that’s definitely an improvement! I didn’t have any prior measurements but I used my phone for a db reading and saw 78 to 80 db at WOT approximately 8100 rpms (Not sure on accuracy on phone app?) WOW I said that pretty damn good lol… So we both think that it was definitely an improvement over just the kilmat and the factory felt liner by far. I believe I can live with the noise levels now easily. :) I really think that the lead sound barrier and the fiber mat 45 really provided the biggest difference! Update on noise levels… Cruising speed is about around 70 db at average at 30 to 35 mph. Still was around 78 to 80 db wot… Take note Polaris you could fix this without a clutch modification just use the right materials! That’s my 2 cents worth!! I’m happy 😁
Thank you much for the input. Everyone is looking for a fix. Sounds like this worked well. At that RPM your sound decibel is far below what mine is. I’m hopefully Polaris will come out with like minded kit for these. I don’t think that clutch kit is what people want.
Plexi on the bottom is for the material transport in the dump bed, rocks gravel, sticks and bricks and such could bust your glass with ease as to where itll be scarred and scratched up but still providing the coverage from the elements and debris carrying in the dump bed. Hope this helps. Their way of saving us money on a piece of glass consistently
Thank you for the dbs test. And yes I get when it comes to street vs off-road driving. I did take a defender and a ranger for a ride and there’s a little different sound coming from the defender.( a little quieter) It my also have something to do with the design of the engines. Thanks again for taking the time to share.
No problem really glad to help people. I truly think the defender cab is quieter because unlike the Ranger, it doesn’t have any holes. Whereas under the rear seat in the ranger, it has a big hole to change the oil filter.
I was naïve when buying my first and only SXS. 23 Commander. I wanted a tiny jeep like toy to cruise around and enjoy conversation and music. The 1k stereo was the biggest waist of money ever. In fact any stereo in a SXS is a waist unless you are sitting idle. I now wear a Bose noise canceling headset. Point is they’re way way to loud and and newbies like I was don’t know that.
For fishing gear they make all kinds of attachments for the rail system in the bed. Along with chainsaw and other tool holders. For the gun racks most people do gun mounts on the bottom of the seats in rear. So when you flip the seat up in the rear it has the mount attached.
Thx for video! Yes they are a lot money but you get what you pay for! I agree everything is a upgrade compared with anything on the market in that class. The wife and I thinking buying one just like yours. The only thing I’m concerned about is the noise.. But we ran 2 stroke snowmobile‘s for years it’s gonna be a whole lot quieter than that! Also thanks for the buying advice video! You kids you crack me up, reminds me of my younger days! Take care and god bless you and your family!!
No problem, glad to help. I’m becoming used to the noise. No one would complain if it sounded like a glorious 2 stroke o how I love that sound lol I’m love my kids and feel blessed every day to be with them. My son is so rambunctious and full of life. Best wishes on your purchase and God bless. Thank you for checking out the channel and commenting it really helps.
Does your windshield leak? Mine does. They've replaced it and it still doesn't seal right. Also at 5500 rpms my prop shaft makes a rattling noise. Have you had any issues?
I haven’t had it in heavy rain yet. But pressure washed it and didn’t have water inside. I’ll update you when I get it in rain 🌧️ Check under your skid plate some of the shafts wired cup rings are touching. I seen a couple people on the forum with that issue. It’s half way up the shaft. Loops over the shaft.
Hey drake like the videos just wondering if u can make one about what you do trading machines what works the best for you and what cost least over time. I see you move machines a lot, do you sell them outright or trade that at the dealer? Just wondering yours take on it. Thanks!
I’ll try and think of a good way to display my work on buy sell and trades. I never trade to the dealership it’s a losing game. One thing important that I’ve tried to stress to people is never buy a machine with crazy fees. I also never finance my machines I pay cash. The moment you buy a machine your upside down majority of the time. Adding extra cost like fees makes you upside down even more.
@@joshtanksley125 I simply ask the dealership up front if they have fees. Then if they do I tell them I’m not paying them. If they want my business they will remove them since they are made up anyway. Any dealer that charges freight is a scam. Go watch the previous two videos of me telling you what to watch in the dealership. Then go to the comments and look at dealers trying to justify made up stuff
Here in Gatlinburg TN i ride my 21 Ranger Northstar basically as a daily driver. My wife and i stopped in a dealership today and now i have the bug again lol. I may just wait a while longer seeing the noise. I wonder if gilloman will have a tune for the high RPM the machine turns. Thats a huge cause of noise and it doesnt need to be hitting over 8k at 55-60mph. I cant leave anything stock so now i wanna check gillomen tunes lol. Nice Ride
I wish we could drive legally on the road here. We are planning to come down to Gatlinburg with our xpedition. Any cool trails you go on there? Or just road riding
I think the reasoning behind the plexi glass on the bottom is incase you load something in the bed, it won't break the glass if it hits the front there. That's the only thing that would make sense to me.
If you had to choose defender max limited or xpedition xp 5 what would it be? Strictly tail riding 15-35 mph, Young kids, wood trails/ old logging roads. Use machine year round.
@@americandream_89 2 young kids that will be in booster seats, and easy Michigan trails and old logging roads. No technical offroad hillclimbing. A lot of old railroad grades and snowmobile trails.
@@madrev21 for me also having younger kids it’s 10 times harder to tend to them in the xpedition. It’s also 10,000 more dollars. Yes it is a whole lot smoother on the trail but if you’re like me you’re not gonna do nothing stupid to put your kids in jeopardy. So I would recommend a defender limited max.
I’ve really been torn. Limited max is available now from same dealer and they pushed my ship date a week back again for xpedition. Original was July 28th. I’m pretty set on xpedition due to northstar cab, suspension, JBL stereo, and lastly the interior finish. The other quality issue make me nervous but are fixable.
I do a lot of street riding here in NC and my General is turning around 6500 rpms at 50. Yours is 8 grand!? Holy smoke. I don't think I want a xpedition now.
Love that you asked that question. We just purchased a rzr 1000 ultimate four months ago. I had to have it. We are older (me 61/ husband 70) it’s so loud and hot. It’s obnoxious we live in West Virginia and have a lot of trails around here here, but can’t even have a conversation.. He wants a XP 1000 and I want the expedition.. not sure with so many sound complaints at 11 o’clock
I liked the video. Ill tell yea. I just purchased a brand new 2023-Polaris-Xp1,000-Northstar-Crew) an its very nice. To where i think its not that loud at all. Jus my opinion
Thank you! The ranger as you have and defender are the best options for less cab noise. We have had several of both. Great machines congrats on the purchase
@@americandream_89 okay cool, im looking to switch to one of these from the rzr platform, I have horrible allergies and need to get away from being covered in dust lol
@@7kzone once you go cabbed you never go back. It gives you so much more time to ride. No longer worried about rain dust etc I’m trying to get a pro xp or pro r out for testing against the xpedition so people can see flex and ride
Everything I see on these shows top speed of 65. I bought one yesterday. It cruises at 70 smooth as a new truck. Top speed is 78. Verified with gps speedo.
@@americandream_89 high not so bad low gear is definitely way lower. Its awesome for trails imagine it'll be alot better with belt life too. I love the machine in every other aspect it's just it's way louder than past machines
Very nice machine and great review, but for the price these utv manufactures need to step up the game on sound deadening materials and heat shielding, Using a new defender limited for work, ac will not keep up and the noise is ridiculous, the amount of body flex as well in the defender is pathetic as well, these look to be a lot better and stiffer. For the price of these units it should all be included as well.
Thanks for checking out the channel and commenting. It surprised me that you said the noise in the defender is ridiculous. I guess I’ve tried so many machines that the defender seems great to me in comparison, all these other ones. But to your comment, I fully agree these manufactures skimp out on the cab in many ways. This xpedition takes the trails so well I haven’t felt sketchy in yet.
My General 1000 XP stock was at 107 db wide open throttle. I've gotten it down to mid 90s with a dual loop exhaust and sound some proofing. Had I known the sound would be this hearing-damaging, I would not have bought it. It's just poor engineering to build something this ridiculously loud.
We just purchased a 24 razor rzr ultimate it is so loud and hot we are trading it in and going to take a loss but we can’t even have a conversation it’s so loud. We are now trying to figure out between a General or a Xpadition . But I am hearing they are just as loud. Not sure what to do
I have multiple streams of income but a great one is my sawmill and lumber company. Without following God I don’t think my life would have landed like it has. I truly believe God played a roll in my success.
I have a 2024 Polaris Xpedition XP 5 -- WAY TO NOISY - revs too high - apparently according to Polaris customer service - their engineering is DILIGENTLY working on a fix-- I REGRET MY PURCHASE - this is probably due to improper gearing (too LOW) I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS MACHINE AT ALL - Please note that there have been HUNDREDS of complaints about this problem and POLARIS is dragging their feet - PS - I have added sound barrier to area behind and under the seats and on the firewall in the engine bay - this helped the noise a bit but the HIGH revs are UNPLEASANT to say the least - OK if you have earplugs or you are hard of hearing - otherwise PASS PS I traded in my 2021 Polaris General and regret it - also the ADV is even nosier that the one with the dump box
