Imagine going back 10 years in time telling that we will have a family car that does 0-60 in under 3 seconds for 54k. And then consider that we have also had an insane 20% compounded inflation since then
Crazy cause people were expecting $57,990 or even $54,990 if Tesla wanted it to qualify for federal tax credit. But then Tesla releases it at $52,990 so you can at least do customizations.
There is only one problem with the review....You did NOT drive the car....Where is that 0-60 in 2.9S?I was waiting for that part, not how the head lights look like...
not only is this car excellent for the sticker price at $52,990, but it qualifies for the $7,500 EV tax credit making it $45,490 before any other qualifying incentives or taxes. WHAT?!?!
That is not how tax credits work. Its sticker is $52,900 and with ev tax credits the cost is $52,900. Whether you even get a penny of tax credit benefit, let alone the full amount varies by person.
Thanks for commenting on the steering wheel non-button buttons! This car looks amazing, but I can't deal with buttons that don't click. It's bad enough that they got rid of the stalks.
@@urhotpeople have to want to buy the tech you speak about and last time I checked sales are down, they fired 10% of the people that worked there and the cyber truck is a complete dangerous joke.
Yeah, Americans feel sorry for you simple people unable to convert fractions. Are you unable to tell what time it is when you see Big Ben??? When will you start protesting that?
Imperial system full of „yards”, „feet”, „knees” or „ankles” is weird. Do „foot” is divided to 12 „knees” and „knee” consist of 12 ankles? 😂. Hope everybody will use metric system.
The fact that I had to look at the description to see what camera he filmed this on and then saw it was the iPhone 15 Pro, phone cameras, period, have come a looooooong way!
Iphone 15 pro is not the king of videos anymore, nor the king of photos, and neither is the king of anything actually. Wait, in fact it's still the king of something... Being overpriced as hell.
This is surely a joke right ? The front looks like a Chinese fish. The front and rest of the car don't match. The front gives off a sleek design then it all the sudden turns into some kind of egg blob thing all the way to the rear. Like what??
@@urhot no I'm not lmao. Ur just under tesla vids. If u were under a car community section u would be hearing the same thing. Not a soul even a tesla lover would see this car and think "wow that thing is so dope" it looks like basic traffic. Average joe commuter. No one on the road would turn their head to look at it no one at a drive thru or anywhere would give u a random compliment. It isn't "that"
This is simply not true whatsoever. Tesla uses rollout for their posted claimed 0-60 times. This will be 3.2 sec 0-60 without rollout. A m3 or m4 xdrive is 2.8 sec.. the m3 and m4 will also have the upper hand after the 60 mark and would destroy it in a roll. Theres no world where this beats a m3 or m4. Ur talking nonsense. Also to compare the price like a bmw m3 doesn't have far superior brakes, actual luxury interior, carbon fiber and other high grade materials, etc... go look at the interior of a bmw m3 compared to this and get back to me. 😂
@@wsu8568that's not true. People have got 2.8 0-60 like joe Achillies on the road not prepped before. The m3 will have the complete upper hand after 60 as it's 100-200 time is significantly faster as where the model 3 will start to slow down. In a roll race the model 3 will literally get gapped by 3 bus lengths.
@@user-my4xu4gf1zthey do not use roll out. That’s incorrect info. I own a bmw m3 and test drove the older model M3P. it’s clear that this thing is way better value for the money, and now this new one may be the better car altogether. Especially factoring in things like maintenance costs
I didn’t think about this till now but I would actually appreciate a night time perspective of your review vehicles from both the interior and exterior point of view to see what we should expect to deal with during the night (and to have some cool night shots! Especially performance oriented vehicles, like the Rimac)
Just FYI regarding the lack of a carbon ceramic brakes on the performance model. For this price range, it makes way more sense to have traditional steel brakes. When you start doing track days in this, you are going to be replacing brake parts at a much higher interval. And when replacing a carbon ceramic setup can be $10,000 or more, it gets painful unless you're stupid rich. So even though the CC brakes may offer better track performance, it's much more practical to stick with steel brakes (which also work and feel better in normal street driving to)
@@meilyn22how is this news to you? Also consider how much cheaper it is to run electric vs gas. A gas car of equal power would cost substantially more in fuel. My MYP costs me 14$ a month in electricity.
I just got the ‘24 long range and it’s absolutely incredible. So much fun to drive and instant torque is intoxicating 😊 I put 400 miles so far and I still can’t get used to the turn signals, but who cares, its still awesome 😂
Regarding the capacitative buttons: I assume the built you’re reviewing is a pre-production model where they’ve used inventory from the old steering wheel. Can’t imagine they’ll go back just for the Performance Model 3…
You are 100% right. it'd make absolutely no sense to have only ONE model that uses something so small when they can use the same steering wheel as the new model 3.
@@powrich12 19s will be available later which should help recover 10-20 miles or so of range back. And the lr has smaller wheels with thinner as tires so it would also suffer with these staggered 20s using 275s in the back.
Love it! I had a 2018 (?) 3P, and now a 2021 3P. So yesterday I HAD to order the new one!!! My current 3P has a lot of squeaking and rattles but the 12.3.3 FSD is incredible!!! Can't wait to take delivery! One thing that's not great is the depreciation on my current car. Tesla will only give you one quote and that's it and it's totally under valued. I get it's a wholesale quote... I work in the exotic car industry... but I'll sell it myself online. Thanks for the great review Marques. Love all your videos so keep going and I'll keep watching and giving you a thumbs up!
this build and quality of this car looks amazing. i love these new sport bucket seats. I have a 23 MSLR which I love due to the elegant ride with the air suspension but if I didnt have that i would get this one!

I would LOVE a Podcast related to the Auto Focus Channel & the EV/Hybrid market right now Marques. Maybe you and Miles could talk cars for an hour like Waveform if you have time. Keep up the good work bro!!
Agreed! now that the market is maturing a little bit, it would be nice to see your thoughts on EV purchases that include used options. Kind of like how you look at smart phones over time.
Thanks man. Seriously. I just put my order in today for a white performance based off your review! It tipped me over to go grab it! I'm sooooo excited!!!! And to let everyone know. I got a white performance with black interior and after the 7500 tax credit it came to 53k and some change out the door.
the changes to the car - suspension and brakes, and keeping weight down, in addition to more speed/ power, are really essential for someone like me who likes specific older cars for their suspension and handling and driving experience, and because they're nimble and fun on back roads. So I think you totally got to the crux of the Tesla issue for serious drivers / car mechanics, etc. in this review.
I have the base model RWD version and I have a blast in it using it as an everyday driver. I do dislike the touch buttons for blinkers like it was mentioned in the video.
I went to teslas website and was thinking "this is nice but you lose 40 miles of EPA estimated range compared to the long range... then i thought ... you ONLY lose 40 miles of EPA estimated range.. 🤔"
And if that bothers you that much, you can likely get an 18 inch aftermarket wheel for it to regain some if not most of that range back. But in my experience with my Model Y, long distance travel has gotten a lot easier overall in a Tesla because they keep adding more and more superchargers in many places, so going as far as you absolutely can on one charge is less of an issue than how fast can you charge at each station you do stop at. Or as Out of Spec Motoring calls it, "supercharger hopping". While you do have to stop more often, your overall trip is usually faster because you're spending less time at said superchargers compared to doing long deep charges at fewer ones that the car tends to do if you don't want to optimize the trip speed. At one stop, it told me to deep charge for about 40 minutes to make it to the next supercharger which was about two hours away. If I was eating at a restaurant, that might've been fine. But since it was the middle of the night, I instead picked the next supercharger in between where I was charging and where the car wanted me to go. I only had to charge another 5 minutes to make it to the next one, then stopped at that one for maybe 15 minutes, compared to if I did the 40 minutes it originally wanted me to do. This doesn't always work of course, because if the supercharger is full or you're at a V1/V2 supercharger, you'll probably have to wait. Should also be interesting as more non-Tesla EVs are able to use the V3/V4 superchargers and how they'll impact Tesla owners.
I have the same touch buttons on my Long Range and I LOVE them. No issues whatsoever. Somehow I wish the Performance looked even more special though. Wheels and area elements aren’t that amazing.
@@The1QwertySky they can of cause. But recently I get feeling something’s going wrong with Tesla. I have a Model 3 LR from 22 myself and I actually like it, but the things that I don’t like become more frequent with time, often through updates. We also got a mid 2024 Model X Plaid in the family and it has even more problems than my M3. Now the things you hear about the Cybertruck. Idk, maybe it’s just my subjective experience but I’m most likely not getting a Tesla as my new car soon. Not to mention their - to put it mildly - weird price politic.
my tell tale sign is the right and left rear blinkers. old model 3 has orange strip between the lights while the performance has it right under the brake light.
I shoulda waited for this before I rushed to get the Model 3 Long Range last month.. i sure do hope a trading option is available in Malaysia when the Performance model arrives
This should have had a bumper camera and a power frunk lid. A lot of the money went to that rear display that many will never use and it seems like the driver didn’t get anything in fact they got stalks taken away.
If they were really serious about the environment with those deductions they should only apply it to the most basic models with the highest efficiency numbers, and not the ones that burn through the precious 'green' energy the quickest just for speed. Show's what a dumb system it is to begin with, but if you can use their stupidity in your advantage why not hehe
Think about a few years ago when you needed to pay 100's of thousands for that kind of power and acceleration... and now it's "just" 60k. Amazing stuff.
And its still dog shit. I think any sane person would still rather have a huracan thats slower but has that awesome V10 engine note than a 60k$ genericmobile ev trashcan with no sound
And it's absolutely garbage. What do you need 0-60 in 3 seconds for on a 3 ton boat-fridge hybrid that can't take a corner to save it's life. A 150hp Miata is a much better enthusiast car because it's much more engaging and fun to drive than this go-kart with 1000hp. This car is only for posers who want to brag that their toaster beats a $200k car while they send it flying into the wall of a grocery store because it takes off with the push of a button.
I only just drove a tesla for the 1st time about 2 months ago..it was a base model trim, single motor one from 2020. probably just around 320hp more or less...Still, that car was incredibly quick and would leap off the line and close gaps like noones business..One of the most Surreal and utterly unique car experiences ive ever had...those cars look, drive and feel Otherworldly... The one this dude is driving would be Dream car material in my book if I could afford one...cant even fathom the speed ...
@@patrutherford9600 yes i do. I dont need the extra bit of range. All other features tesla offers are underwhelming. Dont care about apps you cant use without premium, sensors that most cars have, and an app. Merc and Audi are much better built, better looking, and have superior driving experience. Also tired of the boring, empty interior. You see the m3 everywhere as it became a cheap entry level car. I also like the electric BMW i4 much more.
Some of the extez things look like after market things tacked on like the lip spoiler and the front splitter. I don't hate, but that's what it looks like that someone put aftermarket sporty stuff on a regular model 3
It’s truly remarkable the gap between Tesla and other EV Manufacturers. It would be incredibly difficult to justify purchasing other vehicles in the 35-65k range. Performance, Infrastructure & Software is unmatched in this price bracket.
Hello! Im a subscriber in South Korea. I just ordered the performance version. However, I'm a little concerned about the ground clearance of the car. Can you include the size and geometric difference between the regular and the performance model 3 in the upcoming video? Ps. Thank you for the great quality videos all the time. Very happy watching your videos halfway across the world!🎉
Worth Noting!!! This performance Model 3 is eligible for the $7,500 Federal Tax credit (making it $45,500!), whereas the RWD and LR AWD versions are not eligible - due to the batteries is the performance version being made in the USA whereas the others are not. That's a heck of deal considering most cars have a hefty mark-up at the dealerships these days.
Gonna get my daughter a model 3 or a mache e. Biggest factors right now are screen in front of driver for speed check, Apple CarPlay, and the capacitive buttons instead of stock.
