@@SamCarLegionhe meant bad dude, we’re u guys scared to break it or something? Idk if you know but the corolla 60ft time is lightning speed and would be in front of everyone’s bumper at the start
These drag races are so frustrating. Sam can’t drive a manual. Or launch. There is no coordination between drivers. No one can come to a reasonable conclusion from these races. This channel has so much potential but falls short every time.
and he always seem to like the crackle and pop sounds better. Even when they are NOT good sounding engines at all. Like in this video. The Subaru sounds worst. you hear accessories more than than boxer bromp its know for. then the hyundai that crackles and pop but doesnt sound like a long lasting engine. The engine is pushed to the limit of its thin alu block. then the Honda. Somehow New Hondas crackle and pop aplenty and are still good af cars but they lost so much character it was known for. Then the GR is the best sounding with plenty of character although IT IS ODD SOUNDING! But it sounds solid! and if you understand ICE scaling technicalities it is the most overbuilt engine of the bunch and it sounds like it. Especially between 4k and 6.5k where it sounds somehow like a Cummins Diesel which always makes me smile. And it is the most analog car of the bunch. Everything about it feels like a rally spec restomod four door hatch. its not about how nice the interior or how fast on a 1/4 its about "smiles per curves"
@@CG-yh6jsDang. Just be glad we get this content. And also owners are driving their own cars here , so I think they do pretty good most of the time. But I do agree about the sound of the subaru. Oh well just give me a bug eye!
One thing about Honda vehicles that seems to be a recurring thing is that when it comes to their 6 cylinder engines, they seem to be mid to low in class as far as output, hence the TLX Type S, MDX Type S and Pilot. They are all out gunned by their competition classmates. But when it comes to their 4 cylinders, they seem to always be best in class, hence the civic Type R and Integra Type S.
@@RunEmDownTony the MDX Type S beat the GV80 twin-turbo and TX500h F-performance on Sam's channel. And the TLX Type S beat the C43 AMG and M340i's lap times at MotorTrend.
@@aymanal_jahwari9148the only Type S that is overweight is the TLX. The MDX Type S is lighter than its competition, same story with the Integra Type S.
I do, his 1-2 , 2-3 and 3-4 shifts are soooooo slowwwww. The car stops all forward movement for half a second or more, each shift. Not to mention, anyone with a 2023 or older N has upgraded their transmission bushings by now
You can easily get the base model for $32k. The TR has Brembos, Recaros, better suspension and wheels. I’ll bet on a road course it comes in 1st or 2nd.
Elantra N should still be using an Automatic because it’s already an unfair race when it has a lot less horsepower and no AWD than the competition Sam come on now.
@SeudXe It's been proven on a dyno the elantra n has 276hp at the wheels not at the crank . So it's closer to 300bhp not 276 and should have the advantage over the others in a roll race. Either the driver didn't octane learn before the race as 4 psi would make big difference or they can't drive a manual to save themselves.
Let me start by saying that the DE5 is fantastic. I have one. Test drove every car in this video. The only thing that surprised me is that during the drag race. Both AWD cars didn’t have a greater lead than the one we saw in the video.
13.9 quarter from the WRX is pretty much what the car sites tested it at. These are privately owned vehicles so I doubt the owners are willing to take the risk of a high rpm clutch drop.
Agreed! Im a Honda guy but kudos to Toyota for making that move. Honda should have offered a Civic Touring/Integra Advance version with the 10AT. (even a 2.0T from the old Accord would do just fine)
Yeah the Hyundai is great. We get the i30N Hatch here and its the best looking, best sounding car of that line up by far, no contest and more power than the Elantra. The Honda is way too expensive and its not really a hatchback, its a fastback. The GR was also poor value for money here and that's before the engines starting blowing up and now they are catching fire.
@@speeddemon311 I get it, but im speaking for how good a value it is, and pit it against them on a track, then let's see how good the Elantra N stacks up
@@speeddemon311 I could have bought a Porsche 718 but I still bought an i30N. The i30N is 75% as good as the Porsche and far more practical but over here the Porsche costs four times more than the i30N and it doesn't even come with forged alloys. You just cannot justify the cost of a Euro car over here....except the i30N is also made in Europe for our market. Albert Biermann is a genius, he designed a car that's one out of the box and not a conservative Japanese car.
Why? It’s got around the same amount of HP as the other cars and weighs about the same as the others. Oh and it lost. Not sure why you’re so surprised how fast it is lol
I wonder how the EN DCT+NGS gonna do. And I wonder if the manual version EN did octane learn. I just noticed the EN that Sam tested is before 2024 model year.
Why do EN owners say this every time it doesn’t win lol. Sam made this video 100% apples to apples as far as manuals. Surprised I haven’t seen an octane learned comments yet.
@@TheHybridQ50Sthat’s bc they know the result manual vs manual type r will win every time dct is a different story type r will loose everytime but its not a fair race
I just got my WRX. You can't find a GR, Type S, or Type R; if you can, they are selling with twice the interest rate, and Type R is all $5000 over sticker. I got $2000 off and 3.9%. I would love to see one of these with the WRX having an AP and intake. It would help level the playing field for the price difference.
Incredible video! All of those cars are amazing! I traded my 2019 fk8 type R a year and a half ago for a 2023 Civic Type R FL5! I like it better than my Fk8 a lot! It’s all around in my opinion a better car than the FK8! It’s hard to explain how good it is until somebody has driven one! Prior to my Type R’s I owners 4 different generations and mid model upgraded Civic Si’s! I’m a big Honda fan but all of the cars in this video are great! I would love to experience how each one drives! Keep up the great content! 😃👍🙏🏼🚙
Bro there are various test between the N,GR and the type R even with the DCT, the N still looses to the GR and type R, the only upside is that the DCT N stays with the GR and the type R to 60, but after 60 it gets dropped, there are videos online to prove my point@@tyhyhh
As a DCT EN owner, I’m sad that I’ll probably never get to see how my car stacks up against these. I understand the transmission fairness argument blaaah blaaah, but I think it would be very interesting to see how the DCT stacks up anyway. Why is that so hard?
That’s what I am saying. I know they’ll probably never post one octane learned as well, but it’s much faster. I’ve only raced M340s, 5th gen camaro SS, civic Si, manual Ns, BMW 330is, audi s4 8.5. Here are results from a 40 roll. M340(some bolt ons tune disabled): 40-65/70 was pretty much even but he beat me afterwards. 1.5-2 cars at 120+ lol. 5th gen SS manual (cammed no tune): I lost by a car length at about 100/110 from a 40 roll. Civic Si: I didn’t even have to be octane learned, buddy was just hyped to roll race haha(me too🤣). 23 330i xdrive: dig he launched faster but after i stopped spinning and hit 2nd gear I caught up and beat him by 2 cars at 80/90 mph. Roll race from 40 to 100-105 i beat him by 3+ cars. S4 8.5(stock): I beat by a car length, was a 40 roll. Manual N: 40-110 i beat by about 2 cars.
Is quite annoying, dct owner as well and completely get the manual for fairness but how many years need to go by before it’s justified to start seeing the dct from the yt community doing these races. after all it is just a race, we just want to know what matchups win against what matchups
Hey dude. I'm the EN owner on Jvettes channel. Gonna get some races with me against some of these cars soon. WRX is slower than EN DCT, same with GR Corolla. Type S is close but like half a car with a very good driver. Type R is worse than Type S
Im here for the Elantra N! Was is octane learned? EDIT: WHY IS IT NOT A 2024 DCT AUTO!!!???? I would like to see a 2024 DCT Hyundai Elantra N race a manual Elantra N You can clearly see the Hyundai driver is very slow to shift through the gears. The shift pause is crazy long

I think Sam posted the CAD conversation price. The DE5 starts at around 51,000 CAD, so when you convert it to USD, it is just shy of 38,000 USD. But yes, in the US it starts around 52,000 USD.
These results are pretty much spot-on for what I expected. The FWD cars dominate the roll races, and the AWD cars get the dig on FWD but are caught up by the Type S's superior power to weight ratio. I only wish the Type S could be 38k in the US lol

When I came onto YT this morning several channels I subscribed to popped up with new videos. This was the first one I watched. One of the other ones had a Ferrari vs. several Audis. Sam's channel features cars the vast majority of people can afford which makes it, to me anyways, much more interesting.
Glad I’m not the only one to notice this, those were not good launches. If I recall correctly they couldn’t launch the other GR they had in their channel from another video either.

Wow, this was a cool battle. I'd also have to go with the Acura Type S but they are probably impossible to buy at MSRP. Something about the Toyota GR rear funky rear fenders look really awkward and odd to me. It's crazy how much you can save on the WRX in Canada. That's a 7K difference if you buy it in Canada vs US. I would imagine you could probably actually go in and buy the WRX and the Elantra for MSRP. I doubt it for the other two. The actual availability of these cars at MSRP is actually a HUGE factor for people considering a new car. Keep em coming Sam!
@@nmode22 same could be said for the WRX, and the base starts at just under 33k(US) with the same engine and AWD system. Both cars are great, I only wish the N had been more of an option here in Canada where it is priced higher in comparison to the WRX than in the US.
You know what's even more insane? My 23 base WRX being 28K OTD. I could literally spend 2-3K and be close to 400 whp and still have a few grand to play with being cheaper than the MSRP of the EN and GRC 😮
It makes sense the power to weight ratio alone the Integra is the lightest car of the 4 and has the most HP and torque. You have to have a couple years driving a FWD with 6 speed manual under your belt before you can master a launch, and what you learned starts over again with new tires. It's all in the clutch release - a little bit of riding the clurch on launch can make the difference. Check out the Bisimoto Odyssey with 1,000 HP, it has a 0-60 time of 3.4 seconds. Shifting from 1st to 2nd in the Integra Type-S has to be right at redline, gearing is not as forgiving as the rest of the gears.
@@mengx94nah I agree. The Acura Integra looks the best out of all these. Price wise though I would rather go with the Elantra and I love Hondas. Just can’t justify paying $52k or actually probably more like $56k after all fees
cope with a tune or weather conditions.. the only thing that makes AWD good in "all weather" is power to the front wheels... lets be honest. honda has been king
@lemon_sharxx WRX powers all 4 wheels 24/7. Lol Well not just that if you want to rally you want to AWD. If you want to make big power you want AWD or RWD. FWD even Honda built is gonna turn into wheel hop city after a certain point.

No issues with space even with the occasional third person. Just an FYI for all those interested in the GRC.
Gotta love the lineup and the work you guys did to make this race happen. Plus we have to consider the cars are not yours so even though you "push them" to a racing scenario you dont run them like its a win or break them down.
Nobody wants a 34k front wheel drive Hyundai to win from a roll or a even possibly a dig against cars either AWD or are 42-62k out the door... if they want to talk about how crazy the automatic GR corolla will be then why can't we express the fact that the DCT Elantra N is bonkers

What a dumb exclusion, the others don't offer an advanced 8-speed DCT so you can run the Elantra with one because it isn't fair? Well, the Elantra and Type-S don't have AWD so they should be out. The others don't offer 3 cylinders, so the Corolla should be out. Excluding the fastest example of one car but allowing the others is stupid.

The gr doesnt need a driver mod yalls. It gets out fast because of awd but the engine in the integra is a masterpiece. It beats corolla at top end. Lol
Exactly why I changed my mind after test driving a type s . That power is no good if u can't put it on the pavement. It's already crossed the threshold so why even bother with mods that don't help it hook?
Can't wait to hear all the comments about how the Elantra N should've been the DCT. 😂 If you have to have an advantage, and can't be on equal grounds to win a race then that's a problem. As a VN owner I love all the N cars, but the coping that comes from EN owners is horrendous. Plus these are all track focused vehicles, so putting so much weight on their straight line performance is dumb and counterproductive to their actual purpose.
What…? The WRX and GRC have AWD advantage, and the GRC and ITS have a HP advantage. It’s totally fair to even the playing field with the EN DCT. Plus, in the real world on the street or track, nobody makes excuses like that. If a EN DCT beats these cars in a roll on the street or drag strip, it’s a W fair and square. Plus, it’s just interesting to see different matchups. It’s not a complicated concept
@@CTF33 AWD only has an advantage from a dead stop, and is actually a disadvantage when getting roll racing due to higher drivetrain loss. And saying that the other cars have more horsepower is not valid enough. Plenty of other cars have more horsepower than the N cars and yet we win.
@@Symphoniics AWD only has an advantage from a dead stop, and is actually a disadvantage when getting roll racing due to higher drivetrain loss. From personal experience EN owners are the ones making that excuse, I've seen it too many times. And yes a W is a W, but it's not entirely fair when that W only happens because you needed the advantage of an automatic. And I'm aware that it's interesting to see different results which is why I watched the video, and no shit that it's not a complicated concept, but without fail there will always be at least one EN owner complaining about not having the DCT.
@@lllll981 It is correct that AWD is only an advantage from a dig. That’s why the EN 6MT beat the WRX from a roll (EN also has a bit more HP) but lost to it from a dig. AWD also led the GRC to beat the EN 6MT from a dig but the GRC also has the extra power which is why it edged out the EN 6MT from a roll. GRC has the advantage from a dig and a roll due to AWD and HP respectively. The EN DCT levels the playing field.
ITS and N did well considering they are FWD and manual. WRX and GR really aren’t improving on the mid-2000s EVO/STI numbers though… they were low 13s quarter mile back then. I get these cars aren’t really meant for drag racing but it shouldn’t get slower.
EN is the best car by far. Driver mod is a thing, not octane learned which is a big bump in boost for these, Canadian spec is heavier and less rigid than US for those watching, and the price difference is HUGE. If you did the wet DCT fanboys would cry it is unfair even though it would still be much lower in price than the others still. It can also do what these cars are made for (laps on a road course or circuit) without issues the others will face. They did an incredible job with them.
The Corolla badly needs a driver mod, and for some reason this video wasnt as exciting as I was expecting. I could minimally hear the engines roaring, which made me lose the excitement pretty early on, but I still appreciate the effort you made. 👍
