@@JmShows Hey back that taco up a second here!!! You have to compare apples to apples, not an apple to an orange. The automatic transmission tune makes more power because it has a higher redline vs the manual transmission tune. Comparing the power curve at the same rpm, the engine makes the same horse power regardless less of what transmission is bolted to it.

I hope toyota decides to put this manual in the new 4runner. I know 2025 doesn't have it but maybe 2026 or 2027. I would LOOOOOOVE to have a new 4runner as a manual. That would be so much fun! So one thing about the brake hold, its too bad it doesn't work while you're out of the vehicle. I'd love to have a second set of brakes on the wheels when I'm launching my boat. One wrong move for the parking brake and I'm having my total-loss toyota fished out of the bottom of the Mystic River.

Yes. We have to demand more vehicles with manual transmissions. We're currently looking for a new vehicle for my wife. Might trade in the manual Impreza on a manual Tacoma. The Bronco and Wrangler are the other ones we're looking at. They're all too expensive though. Eventually I need a new truck too. But we have to tow 3 horses, so the most recent truck with a manual trans was the 2018 Ram with the G56 6-speed. If ANY full sized truck brings back the manual that's what I'm going with.

@Drg24800 are you slow? Power was just one metric in which the tacoma engine is superior that I listed. And no, just because an engine is turbocharged doesn't make it automatically less reliable than a naturally aspirated engine. For real life examples, we can look at any stellantis, GM, Italian or British NA engines vs just about any Japanese turbocharged engine.

In Hawaii, Toyota is king and Tacoma's are the most popular trucks. One of the reasons is that they are built to last (200,000 mileage club) and they hardly loose value. Their depreciation rate is minimal in Hawaii. I recently bought my 3rd Toyota Tacoma. I had an 03', then 15' Taco and now 2024 Tacoma Sport. I went for the premium package with all the bells and whistle to include heated and cooling seats, & 14" screen. I love the look of the Underground gray. I am a true fan of this truck with all of its updates inside and out, I get honks and shaka's everywhere I go.

People forget and are bewildered by numbers. It is a truck so being able to actually use the torque (IE: staying in a slightly higher gear and using some turbo boost) you actually get economy and hauling power up hills loaded etc. The auto simply detects load and keeps kicking down until higher RPMs and load reduction are achieved and then the engine is out of its torque band and into the HP ranges. Why I ALWAYS bought Cummins Dodge manuals.
@Holden-McGroin

Was goin to get this rig and then found the pricing and completely underwhelming specs on the truck overall. If GM would put a stick behind the 2.7L it would be an absolute blast.

Reverse is in the wrong place, but other than that I'm always happy to see a manual transmission in a truck. If it weren't for the really poor rear seat room and the fact that I'm 6'2, I'd probably try to get one of these. Unfortunately, they just don't have room for taller people. Same problem with the Ford Ranger. Regardless, I hope tons of people get the 6MT. It's just better in every way compared to an automatic. I noticed you were shifting way too early in the power band, and definitely before the turbos could even engage, so that might explain why you didn't think it felt like it had much power. That's not the 6MT's fault. Holding a gear into the 3K rev range would change performance drastically. If you've ever driven a manual Subaru WRX, you'll understand the importance of holding a gear into the higher rev range to get to the real power in the turbocharged engine. Below 2500 revs, the car feels like kind of a dog. But once you pass 3000, the turbos wake up and it suddenly eats Mustangs for breakfast!!

@myplaxismodelisbetterthanyours more torque, similar horsepower and more with the hybrid, better torque curve, better fuel efficiency and will likely last just as long. The engine has been in lexus models for years now with no issues at all. You're stuck in the 90s thinking turbos need to be babied still and give out at 60k miles lmao. Also high strung? Pretty sure it's a moderate compression engine with mild boost. You don't know what high-strung is, do you? Check out ford's 2.3 liter ecoboost if you want high-strung.

@@DB-sd3cw by that logic the Frontier has a reliable VQ variant which has been used in Nissans for many years. Do you use the same logic with the Tundras 3.4l? Been around since 2017 and yet some are having bearing failure. So all of a sudden the Tacoma engine is the most reliable motor ever because....Toyota 🧐. Are you referring to static compression? How is a forced induction high heat motor gonna perform under load? This isn't a diesel my friend. At least the Tacoma is made in Mexico so you know it will be highly reliable 💪
@DB-sd3cw
@DB-sd3cw 4 месяца назад
@myplaxismodelisbetterthanyours I think you're getting in your feelings and making up arguments in your head little feller. My argument was that the VQ's longevity won't be much higher than the new tacomas turbo-4 due to problems with DI. And the VQ engine is not known to be a particularly reliable engine, at least in the Infiniti and 370z iterations. Sorry little feller, but the reality is that the new tacoma engine simply outperforms and outclasses the V6 in just about every metric.
