2024 Volkswagen Jetta Sport Review - The Economical and Fun German Sedan

The 2024 Volkswagen Jetta Sport may not be a GLI, nor will it be the most luxurious, but for $25k it just might be the best value VW currently offers for the Jetta. While we often focus on the Honda Civic or Toyota Corolla, the 2024 VW Jetta shouldn't be overlooked. As an affordable daily driver, it could very well be the perfect match for someone with a desire to own a German car.
Huge thank you to Quirk VW in Braintree, MA for providing the Volkswagen Jetta Sport for this review!

I own a 2021 Jetta S 6speed manual with the 1.4. Recently reached 40k miles. No issues. Blast to drive. Roomy, upscale interior, comfy seating, big trunk and excellent gas mileage. On a recent trip from Chicago to Toronto, I averaged 52 mpg. Quiet at 75 mph. Averaging 40 mpg suburban driving.

Thanks Mattman. I am looking for a 1.5t sport 2024, but concerned about its maintenance cost and resale value. It need not be as good as a Toyota or Honda but what is its depreciation value 3 years down the line. Or should I consider a used BMW 330i for a new Jetta instead if this can get me a good resale value.

Hi. Now at 50k and still no issues. Love my Jetta. The '21s had the first 30k maintenance covered. My VW mechanic did not like the way my rear brakes were wearing and replaced them at no cost. The car is aging well. Replaced the tires last month. Could not be more satisfied

Went to VW yesterday and helped him get a ‘24 Sport. This is a good little car. Drives really well and when you get into the sport mode, it’s got a little hustle. My son’s it look more mature than the competition and tendons t like the CVT in other cars.

And I don’t know if you mentioned but it has a great MPG. I had a 2020 Jetta SE and I could get 45, 46 MPG doing 75 to 80 mph easily without being a hybrid. I once got it to 52 MPG going 60 to 65 mph

The Jetta Sport does have a slightly lowered suspension compared to the S, SE and SEL. And the Sport also comes with the electronic front differential (not the mechanical like the GLI). That would be my pick simply because I feel the front tires spin out far to easily with the low-end torque from the turbo.
@getpeaveymaced
@getpeaveymaced 4 месяца назад
I think the tire spin has alot to do with the cheap tires that come on these new. I think throwing a set of good tires on that have actual grip would solve that problem. I plan on putting new tires on my 21 Jetta as soon as the original ones wear out. Unfortunately, the original tires seem to be holding up quite well at 26k so I can't justify buying a new pair yet!

Thanks for this extensive video. Helps me a lot. I am looking for a 1.5t sport 2024 6 speed manual, but concerned about its maintenance cost and resale value. After 3 years down the line, am not sure how many would prefer to go for a used 6-speed manual Jetta. Regarding the resale, it need not be as good as a Toyota or Honda but what is its depreciation value 3 years down the line. Am also thinking to I consider a used BMW 330i for a new Jetta instead if this can get me a good resale value and if the maintenance cost of Jetta sport will be close to BMW. Thanks in advance.

In order to match the competition's standard equipment, you have to go to the SEL, which takes you out of the compact pricing and into the medium size class. The car looks great, and I've sold VW's in the past, so I like the brand, but to me, the value just isn't there. All my cars have had navigation and satellite radio, which combined, are only available on the SEL.

About this car…does the timing belt(1.5) require the 40k replacement of the older belt driven vws, what is the current remedy for carbon build up on the intake side of the engine…is it still a 1500 crushed walnut shell blasting, and have been able to keep the long term ownership cost on par with their competitors…not talking about lame 1,2, or 3 yr nonsense…100, 150, 200k . Asking for a friend….
@va4929
@va4929 4 месяца назад
VW says 180k for timing belt. All GDI engines no matter the brand suffer from carbon build up. I use CRC GDI valve cleaner every 30-40k (super easy) and so far all by VWs are running like new. This particular engine is excellent for what it's designed. Lots of torque and excellent gas mileage, what else can you ask for in a comfortable, roomy commuter.

The Jetta sport does have , a lower suspension. You should have known that.
@BostonAutoBlog
@BostonAutoBlog 6 месяцев назад
It’s not sport tuned. If you walk into a Sport thinking it’s better performing from a handling perspective than the SE or SEL then you were mislead.
@Kizzle001
@Kizzle001 6 месяцев назад
It is lower compared to the S model and has a larger front anti-sway bar per Car & Driver.
@fp5495
@fp5495 5 месяцев назад
It also has the electronic actuated cross differential that helps with wheel spin. The S, SE, and SEL do not have that. The GLI has the mechanical front diff.

13:16 "European Steering & handling"🤡 Steering is as vague and numb as can be. It uses electric power steering so there's 100% zero feedback through the steering. Additionally, being electric power steering makes it have extremely light steering, way too light. The average joe isn't probably going to notice a thing but not me. I daily an E92 M3, probably one of the best steering BMWs (Even BMW switched to electric after the E90 chassis)...
@BostonAutoBlog
@BostonAutoBlog Месяц назад
Test drive a new Civic, Corolla, Elantra, and the Jetta and return with your observations. You're driving an M3 on a near 20 year old platform with hydraulic steering. Obviously the handling and steering is going to be different. Comparing an E92 M3 to a 2024 Jetta is like comparing an M4 GT3 to a DTM E30 M3.
