This is a fact. For people to shop with Dodge, it’s crazy how hard they try to knock your head off as a customer. They once quoted me $800 before tax for a used alternator. I can only assume with EV’s they will download an upgrade within a hour and keep the car for an extra 12.

Why would there be markups? The only reasons Chargers and Challengers are marked up still is because ppl were willing to pay 20% interest because they thought they had to get a hellcat by the age of 20. Those days are gone, there will be sizable rebates on all cars in the near future.

I can tell you from experience. The crazy speed of a performance EV can bite you. You see, the sound is pretty much the same if you're going 30 mph or 100 mph. There is no engine sound to tell you how much power you're making. You can get yourself into a lot of trouble fast with a quiet, no feedback, 850hp car.

The upgrages for electric will happen in software first. When you start hitting limits that the hardware can't handle or is dangerous you'll have to replace the battery, power cables and likley your motors after that.. same with ICEs you have to pretty much buy a new drivetrain when your putting in a certain amount of boost. Here hoping one day to open a tuning shop for electric cars.. would be nuts

I know a little bit about motors, I have a feeling it's not as simple as software, a motor is moving part controlled by voltage. Then there will be the certified technician, this guy's are big $ guys per hour. Technical training ain't cheap of for the smooth brain. But again, I'm just making an educated guess.

Stellantis has allowed dealers top pump up the prices of all their cars with market adjustments. The average retail price of their vehicles is already so high they are unaffordable for most. Whether the 2024 and 2025 charger sell is a matter of waiting and watching. There are some people who will buy it. They don't care about the "brotherhood of muscle" and don't care about the lack of a V8. they just need a new car.

Just this week one of the local GMC/ Buick dealers came to my shop to buy long network patch cords. I asked her what she was doing with them and she said the new electric cars require an update and with them hardwired to the internet it takes 6 hours!

The Electric motors will probable be different along with the battery pack BIG difference between 800v architect than the 400v , Every EV has different drive train setup to maximize performance and how much you'll be paying for it up front.

Stellantis invested acquiring a massive share in Symbio the hydrogen car company to make hydrogen engines and GM and Honda made a joint venture of making hydrogen combustion engines and even Toyota pursuing hydrogen v8 engines. Everyone knows the cost of making evs and they are not cheap to maintain, insure, or replace. And also the infrastructure is not there especially in the country side

Infrastructure is not there for EVs? For most people, you can charge your EV at home with a standard wall outlet. You ever seen a hydrogen refill station? I haven't, and I certainly don't have one at my home.

The infrastructure isn’t here in the usa. Other countries whose public roads aren’t rated as D- has had the infrastructure for decades to support the switch to ev which is why we’re doing it. International markets are already showing that ev sales will beat out ice within the next decade

Wrong. For example the Tesla Model 3 Sport Edition has Two Motors IE the dual motor badge. So to add performance is adding electric motors, Chaney, breakers performance breaks performance tires etc. almost none of the performance is software based. Some of it is like a normal car setting etc. but it comes down to motors just as much in EV

I work at Tesla, but I’m all Mopar to heart. The software upgrades are not cheap! Remember that. Also, they can have a subscription based thing, pay to play. Remember that.

UPGRADING an EV is mostly software, BUT...you still need mechanical upgrades. Tesla upgraded Insane Mode Teslas to Ludicrous Mode using larger fuses. Also need to upgrade the brakes. Tesla Plaids require ceramic brakes (expensive) while the regular version comes with cheaper brakes that are very easy to overpower with speed.

The problem is that Dodge Built a Culture around those Cars. And enthusiast like Cams, Headers, Superchargers, Turbos, etc. Dodge is trying to event something that is not out there yet. And Enthusiast Electric Car Culture. People that by Tesla Plaids are not the same People who by and Modify Scat Packs and Hellcats. That's why the 5.0 Name alone, has a Culture around it. Just like the "Hemi" does... kN360... It's about to get real interesting.

Even if the Banshee was 1000 horsepower, it's STILL slower than a Tesla Plaid and it still doesn't change the fact you need to charge it at home. Aside from TESLA, the charging infrastructure is HORRIBLE. You may as well just buy a Tesla.

Partly correct. Problem with KW and electromagnetic force is the voltage requirement. Wire insulation is rated for so much before a thicker coat is needed. Not to mention the current that builds the heat to wear the wire out... Either way, bottlenecking Power to the ev motor or dismantling the entire car to change the battery/ wire in order to increase performance is borderline criminal. Turned upgrades into a damn video game. They treating people like they are sheep and want the population to depend on entire companies for local ingenuity...

When it comes to EV's formula is a whole lot more simpler than with I.C.E. 1. The bigger the battery the more power you have. 2. The stronger magnetic motors are ( lucid air sapphire to give you a Perfect example ) the quicker the launch will be and last but not least, just like Knockout 360 said is a coding (software). The biggest problem the Whole EV industry is having is battery.

If you drive that Charger EV aggressive to take full advantage of the available HP you will be lucky to have a charge get to 100 miles. Remember the more HP the more charge is used…that car will be plugged in all the time. Also as the car ages the batteries Effectivness decreases. You won’t be able able to get to those HP numbers. Then on top of all this the car is going to be subscription based for your options like heated seats, high end radio, cruise control…pick the option it’s a fee. They can go pound sand!

Yup that point right there is the #1 reason why im not fucking with this at all. Only the dealer can do the (software) upgrades. I remember a video of Tim talking about that and him specifically saying they have anti tampering measures in place as well to stop people from being able to do stuff themselves and flag the cars BCM etc when people attempt to. Basically implying that Dodge could refuse to service your car at all if it's flagged in their system as tampered and you could end up with a bricked car or they could essentially charge you as much as they want to fix it and clear the tampered status. It's crazy cars are heading in the same direction as digital media now where you don't actually own it/have the right to modify it even though you pay for it. Pretty ironic considering the Challenger/Charger have one of the biggest DIY/mod communities of any car out there.

They won't be able to enforce this, the aftermarket will kill this. The physical electric motor will be in the car, all you would need is a modification to the circuit to bypass their limiting powertrain control unit. It should be simple to increase the power of an electric motor, plenty have done it to their tesla swaps. -Embedded Software Engineer

Not only are these numbers better than those on the ICE cars, the EV will be able to put the power down and do it instantly. It should be a Scat Pack/Hellcat killer, but will it be able to run with a similarly priced Tesla? That will be the big question.
