Today I'm sharing 25 things to declutter right now. Minimalism and intentional living is a lot about changing your mindset, but it's also about changing your space and surrounding yourself with only the things that bring you value or joy. The stuff you forgot about in your junk drawer probably isn't sparking joy, so now is as good a time as any to start decluttering!
Leave me a comment and let's add to the declutter list!

ABOUT ME:🌿
Hi, I'm Christina - I'm a blogger slash vlogger slash human on the internet slash pharmacist, hence the "apothecary" theme in my name. I'm living in Toronto, Canada and on my channel you'll find me on my journey towards minimalism, being content with less, my debt free journey, and content on my LOW BUY. I also focus a lot of fashion. I think anyone can curate a personal style we can be confident in, using pieces from out own closet or with carefully thought out new pieces. I'm happy to take any requests, too! Your girl is flexible (not physically). Feel free to leave me a comment below - I always make sure to read and respond, and I love chatting with you guys. Thank you SO much for watching and taking the time out of your day to support my teeny little channel. Love xx, Christina.

I have been a minimalist for 3 years. I am at a point where I am mostly happy with my space and what I own. It is now a habit to declutter items any time I handle them. The biggest thing that helped me live minimally was to stop the flow of things coming in to my home.

As a daily wearer of glasses, I finally decided to keep one old pair around to use when I lose my glasses. This avoids the lost glasses paradox: you need them to find them, but if you had them, you wouldn’t ne3d to look for them!

I've been doing a decluttering challenge this month, getting rid of 1 thing on Nov. 1st, 2 on Nov. 2nd, 3 on Nov. 3rd...and so on. I've gone through clothes, kitchen things, jewelry, medications, nail care items, books - and right now I'm working on Christmas decorations. That being said, I am listing many of the items on FB Marketplace before resorting to giving them away (because we really need the cash if we can get it). Anyway, it's a very freeing exercise. I don't know whether I will ever be a true minimalist, but we certainly own much more than we really need!

I've been de-cluttering for a few years now, so I've done almost all of those things in the video, but still not quite where I want to be as a (for the most part) minimalist. -- Funny true story about old booze. When I moved out an an apartment about 15 years ago, some apartment employees came into my apartment for some work or inspection - I forgot which. Anyway, I had a few bottles of alcohol from my short-lived cocktail making phase. I told them that the bottles had been around for a couple of years, but they were welcome to them. They immediately said "yes. please." So that was good I didn't have to worry about disposing of the booze and bottles.

In our place we have a few little closets in the neiberhoods. You get put old books/ toys in there and everyone is free to put things in or take something out if needed. I will declutter the whole house soon again. Still in my journey and once in a while i look trough all of the stuff again to see what we still use and what can be donated.

I find that stationery is among the easiest things to replace IF you ever actually need something. I used to have maybe a hundred free pens from all these different companies and projects but those actually do dry up eventually... so I tested them out, kept maybe three that I actually really liked writing with, threw away the ones that didn't work anymore and donated the rest to a nearby charity shop that seemed happy to take them for their own use or to give to others.

You had some really great suggestions. I have to admit that I do keep one pair of my old prescription of glasses in case ai break my current ones. My eye sight is so bad that I can’t put on makeup without my contacts in because the distance that the mirror doubles from my face to my reflection is too far away for me to see myself! I recently went though all of the books that were in my pile to read and got real with myself about whether or not I was actually going to read them. My pile is now manageable and I am working my way through it. All of my rejects went to my local library. They take donations and have a book sale to raise money for the library.

I think one year or less during a Pandemic might lead to some bad choices, I would say two years or less might be more reasonable. Also I live somewhere where the seasons are very erratic, which means the past winter was actually pretty warm while the one before was much colder. I have pretty expensive but very classic coats I couldn't wear in the last winter, but I will probably be able to use in the next one. I sometimes think people over-declutter, instead of thinking over what is a classic or staple piece that can be repurposed. :)

During Germany's lockdown in March (after I got better), we hardcore decluttered the apartment. I recommend actually using all the travel and samples of toiletries. Saved us some money and the hassle of needing to go out. It was kind of fun to get rid of everything and trying a "new" scent of hand cream every few days. Since the conditioner from a hotel wasn't strong enough for my hair, I used to stretch out an old wool sweater that got a little shrunk. Small tip. Nice video, P.S. nail polish doesn't actually expire! when it goes goopy, just use some nail polish thinner (not acetone!) and it'll go back to normal!
