Hi guys welcome back, I hope you are all staying safe and healthy during lock down number 2😊! In today’s vlog I answer 23 more of your van life questions from where do I poo to terrible and memorable moments! I waffle on a bit too much (again) so apologies in advance for taking up your time but I hope my answers help you understand what van life is really like.
If you have any other questions off the back of this or would like a to know more about a certain topic in a separate video, go ahead and ask away in the comments below!
Also thank you for your patience with this upload. I checked in to an airb&b on Saturday with 0.37 upload speed so this vlog took 12 hours to upload on to RU-vid 😂. Anyway, I'm loving having extra space, access to a shower, washing machine and power as my battery decided do die on me last week 😆. What have you guys been up to this lock down?

Pro tip on the diesel heater, don't run it on low lots and then turn it off or it will soot up and start smoking, it's easily fixable but a pain in the ass. To stop it sooting up, run it flat out for a while before you shut it down 🤓

Water Tanks inside the van is a great idea, I know a local converter that only does inside tanks. Easily to clean, disinfect and replace Especially useful if you are more of a weekend warrior

Ronnie Lane was a famous rock and roll musician and influential songwriter who spent his post "Faces" (his band w/Rod Stewart) life living in Shropshire. Are you familiar with him or his legacy in Shropshire? If you're not and you're interested perhaps check out a couple of his songs on RU-vid. Hi two things chick... 1. Wales you must go to south west wales its absolutely stunning its somewhere I think you'll love. 2. Scotland I lived in the highlands for 15 years on the isle of skye and the isle of raasay... both are really welcoming and stunning places to visit but if you eventually get there definitely go to raasay you'll meet alot of fellow travellers that usually will work a bit at the outdoor centre for a few extra pennies , you'll meet cozy Canadian Scandinavian travellers along with the locals... the special part is theres only 150 people on the island but its steeped in amazing history and has the remnants of the old settlement from the 1600's which looks like it was only left 50 years ago it's an amazing site to see. The forestry is stunning and the car park to the opening you can park up in and will be left alone by the locals , it doesn't feel like a carpark it's like a fairy glen. If you do visit there my friend paul camili (he also has a vlog) lives at the north end of the island where theres only 2 or 3 houses , the locals will point you in the right direction. Hes worth a visit and will welcome you with open arms his total off grid home is worth a visit it's off a road called Calans road that was built by one man years ago (theres a book on it) theres a castle you pass brochel castle and you've views over to applecross on one side and the Cullen mountains on skye to the other it's an amazing place to be and wake up to ... also theres an old dormant volcano on the island called Dunn cann it's a nice hike up and the views wont disappoint. Just thought I'd give you some amazing hidden places to visit that I think you'll be blown away with. Enjoy and stay safe xx

@@nicroams well I hope you get to go its beautiful... just before Skye bridge on the main land is kyle of lochalsh .. turn right and head up the way to plockton too its stunning gorgeous big loch palm trees green/blue water its definitely one to do ... applecross is amazing to however I'm not sure youd get the van up the pass as it's so steep the road literally doubles back on itself all the way up I find it scary just in a car 🤣🤣

If you do head back up to fort William. Please go visit Glencoe. (In the summer) it's the most magical place on earth (from an australian point of view anyways)

Lots of the seafront areas where I live have signs saying no campervans or caravans in the free parking along the coastal roads but the way I see it now the DVLA have changed the rules for reclassifing your van work in my favour as if I ever get a parking ticket I have the log book stating its still a panneld van not a camper van (I have a Peugeot Expert van so height not in the new regs lol ) even thought it looks like camper with curtains and solar panels on the roof ... anyway great video keep up the good work...

you could use Truck stops or motorway services to get washed and showered, they are still open.

Enjoy your adventures and videos..... I would be interested in knowing a little more about the Chinese heating system, assuming your van is diesel will it run off your main tank? Do you leave it running overnight? Also on the same subject is your bedding a winter sleeping bag or a “??” Tog rated quilt? Please.... 🤔 all part of my plan to identify what I need in a camper 😊

Hey :) Thanks so much for watching! I have kept my heater to a separate tank for now. I don't leave it running overnight but you can, but as it consumes power I prefer to have a hot water bottle. I have a normal duvet maybe 12tog and a throw on top of that 😁 Hope this all helps!

Can you share with us some more information about the rain water collection setup you previously had? Would you recommend? How did you filter it?

Hey! Yes, I had 4 inlets on the roof of the van that all led in to a tank in the garage of the van. This then ran through a filtration system in to the main tank. There were a few perks and disadvantages to this system. But overall it was great to have in England where it rains a lot and it meant I didn't have to rely on the gird as frequently. It was pointless in Spain where it hardly rained. The system could have been simplified to go straight in to the main tank and filtered in-between that and the tap instead. Also with 4 extra holes on the roof it can lead to leaking problems, with one of the holes it did leak and I ended up blocking it off as no amounts of sealant was fixing it. So would I do it again, yes depending on where I am planning to travel and I would simplify the system and see if the water catching section could be external and separate to the van and then go through only one hole in the roof rather than 4. Hope that helps! 😁

You so cool, love your videos, brave and such an positive attitude 😁🤗 I was thinking, maybe you can add a picture, overview map, in the videos where you are when you go on trips.. For us from other country's it would be more easy to understand if you are for example on the west cost than just a name. About the battery, you could look at the CTEK D250. It will charge your battery more full from the alternator than just a battery separator and also include a good solar charger controller. Look at "Coulomb Meter" on AliExpress, it will display how much you have in battery and the charge/discharge. Also on Ali take a look at "Battery Monitor BM2", it will via Bluetooth to your phone give you a graph of your voltage activity for last 30 days. Looking forward for more videos, good work 👍🤗😁

Ctek D250 is a great bit of kit but only handles 23V. A lot of solar panels have a VOC of over 30V so got to be careful with that one

Did you use a professional installer for the diesel heater and did you connect to the van diesel tank or use an external tank?

I love your blog, I can see you do this well. I live opposite a car park that gets covered in stealth vans each night and the car park now has masses of rubbish, a hedge full of human waste and smells, with more rats, so I am not keen on those van life people.

Hey, it's me again from the states ... Hot water ? - toss a couple of bottles of spring water on the dash board and turn on your defrosters as you drive.. instant hot water // You spoke of making money on the road. Not many live full time on the road let alone not many experience the beautiful sunrises and sunsets from different locations. Reach out to the top Exec's of say Nike / Cosmetic companies or whoever... Photograph killer shots that they can incorporate in their future ads.

I just bought my very own transit connect (my mini home!) and your build tips were awesome! I'm trying to find a good but low priced mattress foam that I can cut up and use for the bed but can't seem to find anything great. What did you use for your mattress? :D

Yayy congrats! I got my foam from Ace Foam in Shropshire who cut to measure. It is 4 inch hard foam 1 inch memory. However I believe I have seen people buy Ikea foam mattresses and cut them up? Hope that helps 😁

On the laundrette front, you don't need to find a "shop" like you used to, there seems to be lots of self service washer /dryers popping up all over the place out in the open, my local one is on a garage forecourt 24/7 access.

Hello. I just stumbled across this video and I'm curious about your answer to the travel to Scotland question. You spoke about a weight limit. Why does your van have to weigh a certain amount? Sorry if that's a stupid question.

Hey! No question is a stupid question ☺. All vans have a weight limit e.g. Peugeot boxers are 3.5tonnes. This means the van itself and the belongings inside can not total to more than this weight. This is because that is what the axels are able to handle. All vans have different weight limits though so it is best to check this as it might help you pick which van is best for you 🤗

I am no mechanic so I would go for vans with full service history, check their MOT online to see what problems it has had in the past and any outstanding minors and make sure the exterior is sound (no damage to the seals). Of course give it a test drive but if you are really unsure I would look at bringing am mechanic along with you :) Hope this helps!

Hello fellow fillip! Good question... My GP is in London, I was stupid and forgot to sign up to one in Shropshire when I moved and whilst I was in a house. I now don't have paperwork to prove I live in the area as it has been over 3 months but I believe I have come across some information on a Gypsy and Traveller website stating that proof of address isn't actually needed. So once lockdown ends I am hoping to pop in and sign up. I will let you know how it goes :) But so far I haven't needed one so no problems 😆
