I was born with complete heart block as well. I was diagnosed at 2 and have had a pacemaker since I was 6. Had my most recent surgery on the 7th August. I’m 27, very healthy and work as a teacher. I exercise, lift weights etc... Glad I’ve had such great health care and an amazing surgeon. I rarely think about my condition!

Thank you for saying this! I was just diagnosed with Wenckebach Mobitz 1 (I'm 28) and it really helps to know that it's possible to have a full life! I also worked at a teacher.

@@AnonymousOnimous I am taking diltiazem for high blood pressure and a fib that I saw on the heart monitor when I was at the ER a couple of months ago. I was told the heart block would probably be worse if I wasn’t taking it but the idea of having this has given me anxiety! I’ve been wanting to really make sure this is the best treatment for my other issues and that it doesn’t conflict with Mobitz. But yes my cardiologist said the same thing, that it’s benign and that if I can live with it that he suggests that I go that route bc treatment of Mobitz could make me worse off. He also said the chances of it progressing to Mobitz 2 is low so I’m working on accepting this, being grateful that it’s not as bad as it could be and doing my best to be healthy. It is good to see people with heart block living normal lives 🙏🏽

Just found out my 5yr old had complete heart block. He had no symptoms except low heart rate. This was a good video and comments to read.

my bf had complete heart block. recently at 56. He also had no symptoms, but he did collapse on the bus with a low pulse of 30. He was recently discovered to have sarcoidosis that damaged a bit of the heart. He was given a pacemaker and a defbrillator within a week, and now he is on steroids. I had never heard of heart block at all, let alone that kids can have it. He was told by the London cardiologist that heart block is an eldery person's illness. saying all that his grandfather always had major heart problems.

I found out I had a congenital bad 2nd degree AV block at age 26 when I blacked out while driving on the interstate. I have a pacemaker now. I had all kinds of symptoms but had never known anything different so, I was clueless. Get the pacemaker!!!

3rd degree. Had 2 leads implanted at 9. Twenty years later (and a handful of new generators) they suddenly stopped working. I felt a little different. I could have died on the spot, since during the last surgery they had to chemically revive me with adrenaline. No pulse as a 29 y.o. guy. Now I'm 31. Two full years with no pacemaker assistance. Heart was structurally ok from the start. But they can't take the old leads out: the scar tissue would rip major veins after 2 decades. I could add a 3rd one, but what happens when that gives up in my fifties? I don't know how every other young patient will deal with this problem, given enough time. I don't trust the wireless version, either. So I basically live with an average of (asynchronized) 40bpm. I can walk for 50m, at most, with no symptoms. But I get my groceries alone, and can walk up the stairs. Breath fine and can have moderate sexual activity. But no strong emotions, or panic attacks. I really can't handle those. Running is off limits, too. I dread it, but I'm alive. I know this comment will help people in similar situations :)

Wireless pacemaker? Damn, I got one implanted 3 months ago and this video is 5 years old. They could have hooked me up with a wireless one 😞

hmm, hopefully they checked her for Lyme disease, as that can be the cause of complete heart block in younger people.
