He’s a magician! I don’t want to hear Larry’s unathletic anymore. I don’t know how his teammates were ready for his passes. I would have dropped half of them….sheesh!
One of the best teams in history-86! There’s none that you can make a highlight reel like Bird! A wonderful time to be young & have the opportunity to watch some of the greatest athletes of all time in every sport! Tiger in my mind would be the only other who was a human highlight reel other than Bird.
Out of ALL the ‘reaction’ video reviewers, you two are absolutely THE BEST! I enjoy watching your reviews because you enjoy the plays as much as your viewers! Keep up the great, hard work you put into these videos!
@@KIDIffFr, you guys are the best reactors on RU-vid. It’s so awesome to watch you guys freak out when watching our favorite players. Plus you’re funny as hell
Bird is the only player I've ever seen who seemingly plays extremely awkward but masterfully refined at the same time lol. The problem with Bird is he can do virtually everything and do it all at an elite level. Plus he wasn't selfish one bit, he could be a scoring machine, and if defenders glued to him, he had zero issue with making passes that made the other team look stupid with super reliable post players in McHale and Parish or toss it to shooters like Ainge or DJ. That's why the 80's Celtics were a monstrous dynasty.
I read a book about WWII General George Patton, and he said his basic strategy for war was "relentless & violent attack, every where, with every thing." That's how Larry Bird played basketball and he did it at 110% every second of every game.
Popcorn ready i'm here for all the drama, Larry Bird is the coldest white boy boy of all time. Thank you guys for putting out great content Day after day.🐐🐐💯👈
Larrys court vision was unmatched, he knew exactly where every one of those passes was going - the Celtics had to practice them with bird so they would be ready at all times, never knew where or when a pass would come from. Larry was a master of keeping the opposing team off balance and guessing.
Larry's secret is that teams needed to double-team him because he was a lethal shooter. Once he sends out a pass, now the Celtics had a 4 to 3 advantage because they were double-teaming Larry. The other thing about Larry is that his team mates knew they needed to pay attention to what Larry was doing because they could be passed the ball at any time, at any place. Bird's presence made the Celtics better as a team.
Just catching those passes took skill because Larry would distribute that ball out of thin air. It seems more like Larry's teammate wasn't even watching the defender on him he was just watching what Larry was doing. Before you knew it you were wide open and the ball was in your hands.
One thing Bird's teamates learned quickly is to always be looking for the ball. Yeah, all 5 defenders where right there, he just threw it where he knew they couldn't get it. That was a pass. Bird doesn't miss that bad from full court, lol. He always knows where everyone is.
I couldn’t get enough of your reactions guys the what’s and oohs 😂I’m 65 year old grandma now and grew up watching this phenomenal player you know Bird and magic Johnson changed the NBA to what it is now. Bird is my GOAT. Thank you for showing the video. Bless you guys❤️
Can you imagine what Birds' total lifetime points scored would be if he didn't feed or pass off the ball as much as he did on baskets he could have scored on his own. The only times he got serious about shooting himself was when the team was behind or the score was tight in the closing minutes.
He would have led the league in scoring every year if he was as selfish as MJ. And that's really why Celtics always beat the Bulls, cos Bird knew that if you let MJ score 60 points, the rest of the team is standing around watching.
And remember, Larry Bird's index finger on his right (shooting) hand had been injured in high school. It was permanently bent at a 45 degree angle despite 2 surgeries. It was shaped like a boomerang and stayed that way his whole career. And he still had those ball handling skills.
@@dutchtea8354 Playing softball for crying out loud. His friends and family all said that he was a MUCH better shooter before he injured his finger. Can you imagine what if he didn't injure his shooting hand? My god, he would be totally unguardable.
He and his team were just so in sync and Larrys bball IQ was absolutely supernatural. He knew where everyone was and where they were GOING to be so he could set up shots to up his teammates stats. And keep the whole team involved in the game. He never just thought about himself, it was about winning.
I was lucky enough to have seen bird play probably 100 games and what made bird so special was the way he got everyone involved. He would give up an easy bucket to give it to a teammate that wasn't scoring just to get that teammate involved. The most unselfish player to ever play that's why his teammates loved playing with him
Yes Bird is the greatest passer I have ever seen. And these are just a small sample of his insane passing skills. Not many of his games are available on video. But the one's on this video are simply amazing. He did some things that would make your jaw drop. And he was a great passer in college. Some ppl think that Magic is the best passer but they never followed Birds career. Bird was simply in a class of his own. There's no one even close to him. He's the greatest shooter, greatest passer, one of the greatest rebounder, and a great defender. He was one steal shy of a quadruple double but sat out the entire 4th quarter. He is the greatest player of all time.
You two guys are absolutely hilarious and fun to watch and listen to. As much as this old man enjoyed watching Bird's dazzling passing, you made this video come alive more than any other. Looking forward to watching you again!
Now that was a smart comment. Larry Bird put himself in a lot of those situations. He wanted to be guarded double or triple team. He LIKED to be in the most difficult situations so he could show his best. Basically, Larry Bird is the David Goggins of basketball.
It is fun to watch young guys become fans of the Legend! There has been some great passers in the league, even Lebron is a heck of a passer.... But nobody comes close to what Larry Bird could do.
My 1st time coming across you two and i gotta say this is one of the best reaction video I've seen. You 2 obviously are ballers and respect the game. And i respect that!
You guys are fast becoming one of my favorite reaction channels to watch!!! Luv your reactions vid's on Larry Legend, you always manage to make me laugh & smile, which is something we all need these days!!! Larry was my Dad's favorite player of all time, so I grew up with Larry, & always thought he was the most creative and original player I have ever watched😊
There's a story about McHale who complained to Bird why he didn't pass it to him when he was open streaking to basket. Bird said to him, that he would have to send him a hard pass through traffic and he knew McHale didn't have the hands to handle the pass. End of discussion. Bird knew the limits of everyone on his team on catching the ball. And he wouldn't try a pass they couldn't handle. He's just way ahead of everyone on the court, even his teammates.
Bird doesn't have eyes just in the back of his head hes got them all around his head. He knows where all of his teammates are all the time on that floor he is an amazing passer. I've never seen anybody as good as Passing. as bird. Bird is an amazing shooter as well. But he doesn't mind sharing the glory with his teammates because he knows. It takes the team to win the game. I think luca Doncic Reminds me a lot of Bird
Larry Bird plays like a machine, an alien, out of this world. The reason his pump fakes worked is because he was either going to drop a bucket in your face or he was getting the ball to his wide open team mates. Any move he made caused a flinch bro. How do you want it?
This is ridiculously good ball movement. You don't see much of that today. Larry was a genius passer because he had four guys on the court that knew where to be and how to play with him. Glory days
One of my Bird favorite moves was his volleyball pass, someone throws him a pass, instead of catching it he uses one hand and redirects it to a 3rd player, leaving the defense to only stand and watch. Bird could have averaged 40ppg if he had wanted, but instead his only goal was for his Celtics to win.
There is another boxer who reminds me of Larry besides Muhhamad Ali and its Roberto Duran. Duran was born with a ferocious heart. Like a baby piranha Duran was snapping with his first breath. Duran was born for boxing, he was abrutal as it gets and he was an artist. Duran was born to crush men in the ring with his fists. Larry legend was born to play unreal basketball, he is like Mozart or Einstein.
I've been watching basketball for over 50 years now and I laugh when I hear some Youngheads say that Jokic is the greatest passer of all-time. He doesn't even come close to Larry Bird's dimes and nowhere near Magic's dimes
It was a college game. The other team was at the free throw line. Bird was the one of the two closest to the basket. Bird winked to his point guard. The shot misses, Bird rebounds and without looking behind his back he throws the ball downcourt to the point guard who gets and lays it in.
First this happens daily in practice....Second if you blink you loose!!! They train their eyes not to blink for about 5 to 10 seconds, especially when you are on "Big O"!!!! Third, Larry is 6 foot 10 inches tall so he see the whole field.... The opponent players are paying extra attention to the shooter who can score from any where on the court..... And the coach has give the green light so this has happen over and over during practice, during games, during warm up shooting etc....walking in the hall to and from the locker room..... His accuracy is so great!!!! Which I will not go into how certain players are just naturally great shots/passer at this time!!!!
You guys crack me up-good job! Thanks to UTube we now can reflect and actually see how great this hick from the lick was! Jordan’s shots were great-Birds were heartbreaking! Do a video on the Pistol and be amazed even more! Lol you guys are great! And watch the pistols homework videos every coach should have their players emulate!
I'm so glad you young kids get to watch all this tape on Bird and Magic. As you can see, they made basketball exciting to watch. The NBA was going bankrupt when they arrived. The two of them saved the league. The real shame is there is so little tape on Bob Cousey. Bob is the originator, the creator. He was the first to do this stuff Bird and Magic brought back to the NBA. He played just like Bird and Magic, but he was the first to do this stuff. He was called "Mr. Basketball, the Houdini of the Hardwood". You knew they were going to take it to the basket, but you never knew how they were going to do it. It was magical. WIthout Bob, there might not have been an NBA for Bird and Magic to save. Do a web search and watch Bob.
When people ask what makes a player great... there are many answers. Opinions differ. What makes a player legendary? Selflessness with the love for the game so intense.. those around him feel it and respond. One day, they will make a video game where the best of all time lace up and bless the Parkay with 100% accuracy... and we all might be surprised.. I know Michael J was drafted in 84 to the Bulls... He had his taste of Bird and Magic along the way. Playing against them two made MJ the tempered steel he was..
In the past 50 years, here are the highest Total Career Avg Stat Points (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK - TO) #1) Jordan = 42.05 #2) LeBron = 40.84 #3) Bird = 40.08 ...That's just to put things into perspective
Larry Bird was very hard to defend. Put two guys on him and he will feed easy lay ups for Parish or Mc hale. Leave him 1 on 1 and it's nothing but net most of the time.
OK guys, would you rather play on a team with Larry Bird or Michael Jordan. Remember, Bird told his teammates: "If you get one step on your defender you're getting the ball!" Bird made other players all-stars. With Jordan, you can just stand there and watch him shoot. Bird was the ultimate TEAM player.
Do you guys do music or movie reactions? You’re too much fun but I’m not big into sports. I grew up when Larry was playing. He was my 5th grade boyfriends favorite player, so he ended up being my favorite player. Now that I watch the highlights, I finally understand what my boyfriend was trying to explain when we played ball.
Robert parish said Bird made him a better player, because you could never look away from Larry because he would put the ball on you, and you needed to be ready to make a bucket. Steven A Smith said there has never been a better passer, shooter, better than Seth Currey, in the history of the NBA. He must have forgot about Bird, he could shoot. pass. and out hustle any one any time
Remember Bird's injuries. Sometimes it was better to let someone else make the shot. Bone spurs, Achilles Tendons, a broken back. I think passing it off at times helped him last the entire game.
Thru the legs of COOPER! My reaction: Bird's not that athletic, jk. His skills are what make athletes.great. Maybe the best best hands in history. Your reactions are priceless! I like the selfie look the Bird has here 13:46
He took a team that had 29 wins the year b4 his rookie year to 61 wins his rookie year and he was the ONLY new addition to the team. No McHale no Parrish. Name ANYBODY u can compare that too. Enuff said
Bird learned nothing from Pete. There's a story that Pete complained to Bird why he wouldn't pass to him out of a double team. Bird replied, if Pete was any kind of a shooter, they wouldn't double team Bird. It's said that Pete retired soon after. None of Birds passes look anything like how Pete would pass. Pete cared more about passing and redirecting with his wrist. He valued ball handling. Bird did every kind of passing with any part of his body from anywhere on the court. If he could direct the ball accurately with his ass, he would do it. He was far better than Pete. You could make a case that Bird was truly a "globetrotter" that became an NBA star.
