@@thomaslaguzzi3884 Hell yes. Thrilled to these youngsters know the Bird. 72 yrs old West Coast fan back when we all hated the Super "Bird". Think "Country Joe and Fish made a song about him.

One of THE best Larry Bird reactions I’ve seen! Magic and Larry saved the NBA. My heart soars every time I see those two interact with each other. They are friends with so much respect for one another.

I am halfway through Star Trek the Next Generation. Pretty good show. I gotta admit it's not as great as I hoped, though. Maybe the last two seasons get much better. I am also halfway through Deep Space 9. Another good show but still lacking. I don't know. After that I have to watch Voyager, the Animated Series, Discovery, and Strange New Worlds. Sounds like a lot but I am determined to watch all Star Trek. Then I will start in on Star Wars.
You guys cracked me up! I saw Bird’s entire career and I felt like this every time I saw him play. He literally did everything you can do on a court and without a doubt he was the toughest player ever. Check out his back injury. It’s literally unbelievable he could play at all, let alone at the level he did. He was the greatest all-around player I ever saw.
Finally reactors appreciate the over the head bounce pass at 8:10 as much as they should. HOLY CRAP!! He had to put like reverse spin over the shoulder to get it through there!!
I was around when these guys were playing and actually got to see Larry bird play a couple of times in the arena. Every time he stepped on the court, you knew something special was going to happen, and it always did. I love seeing young people discover Larry Bird and some of the other players from the late 70s & 80s. That’s when Bird and Magic saved the NBA. I would suggest that you keep reacting to Larry Bird because, number one you will see how absolutely fantastic he is, but also you will see the highest basketball IQ of any player ever. Honestly… I’ll bet you’ll end up getting hooked. Really enjoyed your reaction.
I really enjoyed your reaction ❤️ Hope we can see more Larry Bird reactions. His passing video & making the case for Larry Bird by Clayton Crowley. #LarryLegend #LarryBird
11:51 - that steal against Detroit was game 5 of the Eastern Conference Finals. That won them the game and they ended up winning the series in seven, delaying the Bad Boy Pistons' first trip to the Finals until the following year.
They watched and understood. Most reviewers only want to find reasons they think their favorite current player might be better in some odd way. I can tell these guys are Larry fans from that day forward. I'm subscribing too.
@trhansen3244 Those were the years he won the MVP. 1980 Rookie of the Year 1981 2nd in MVP 1982 2nd in MVP 1983 2nd in MVP 1984 1st 1985 1st 1986 1st 1987 3rd (in the League) 1988 2nd 1989 double heel surgery
Magic & Larry, resurrected the game of basketball......My dad loved basketball, but stopped watching, until the competition between Johnson & Bird was highlighted......What my Dad used to say, about Larry's game, is that it reminded him of someone, who was not only playing basketball, but also, volleyball, dodgeball, hockey, baseball, football, soccer, & strategic chess, all at the same time, and was what made him so great 😊He certainly was one of the most unique and gifted players, I have ever watched! (((Loved your reaction guys))) 😊
I loved their reaction at 8:00 to one of the best passes ever: over-the-head, no-look bounce pass, past three defenders (and if it hadn't been a BOUNCE pass, that third guy would have gotten his hands on it!).
That Danny Ainge pass to Bird @7:21 is almost as insane as Bird's running , jump off one foot, mid air catch and shoot 3. Ainge was all American in HS in Basketball, Baseball and Football. Bird had an NFL QB arm(see his inlet passing vids) on top of everything else.
Larry measured in at 6' 10" when I met him at Indiana State University. I grew up in Terre Haute, attended Indiana State's Laboratory school, ALL that! I got to see Larry around on campus, even served him lunch at the brand new Long John Silvers seafood shop!! Prepare for the unexpected or just hang on! Larry's great friend Magic said "There will never be another Larry Bird" (I agree)!
Excellent reaction guys. Unlike some others, you paid attention to the details, his passes, the alley-oop 3 pointer, etc. I watched the NBA from the 70s until the modern era, and IMO Larry Bird is the best player ever, based on his career from 1981-1987. And these are years with Dr. J, Michael Jordan, Magic, Isiah Thomas, Hakeem, Kareem, Malone, Barkley, etc. And your reaction to the crowd rushing the court- yes, the NBA (and society) was very different back then. Teams actually played defense, hard physical defense. And hard fouls, enough to hurt players. And fans weren't rich people paying hundreds of dollars. Ticket prices for the Lakers at the Forum in 1985 started at $9.50, playoff tickets $25-35.
Thats funny you say he is a 5 star qb. There is video of his full court passes. like 4-5 min long.. ridiculous. on youtube. check it out. good react.. you guys are funny as hell
normaly they do retirements on a game night so people will be there... Birds retirement sold out the stadium by itself they didn't have a game that night. great reaction keep it up!
I was 16 when Larry entered the NBA. I love watching people watch him today, you have no idea... This was the golden age of the league. So many stellar players and Bird beat them all. I grew up in Chicago and hated Bird. Every time we had to go through Boston in the playoffs we lost...bad.
Look at that crowd at Boston Garden at the end of the video.... Larry had retired from the NBA in aug 1992. This was feb 1993, to retire his number. Sold out arena, standing room only, Magic Johnson flew cross country to be there... and there was no game that night. Larry sold out the garden for a 90 minute number retirement ceremony
Larry bird is top 5 dead or alive. Imagine a man telling you what he is about to do to you and you can't stop him. Great video. Larry's videos get views!
Bird was tough and focused. When he came back into the game, he had a fractured cheek bone, a concussion and double vision. The league couldn't stop him, so they mugged him and hard fouled him, in hopes to hurt him enough to get him out of the games. When he went to shoot his free throws, the crowd used to hold up life size cardboard cutouts of women wearing bikinis, in order to distract him. LEGENDARY!!!
Larry Bird fractured his face and came back in the same game, LeBrons allergies flare up and he sits out 3 games...they just built different. Larry loved the game, LeBron loves the fame and money.
You see at 8:17 a precision assassin at work. Yes the ball is heading out of bounds. Notice McHaile is parked. Without looking, Larry fires the ball like he knows exactly how long Kevins arms & fingers are to complete the play without Kevin having to take a step out from under the basket. There's only `1 way to spell goat: LARRY JOE BIRD
Larry would beat the crap out of today's league. And the opening scene was his retirement ceremony. Boston Garden was PACKED and there wasn't even a game! Fans came out in force because they loved Larry. They didn't need no stinkin' game.
Crazy thing about that retirement ceremony was that was in an off night. No game was played. You couldn’t get a ticket to that and I tried as I was from Boston. Crazy.
Think of larry bird as the equivalent of an anime protagonist ie goku. Most others struggle their whole lives to do the things he can do and yet he does them with relative ease. Even from his early years he was a beast and he was that way all the way to the end. Even after his body was weakened by injury he was still a beast even to the end.
Amazing reaction and it reminded me how i reacted when i seen it back in the day. You guys have a great attitude and are very entertaining. Thank you for your time and effort. Brought back some amazing memories.
Dude broke his face. Two ruptures achilles at the same time. Broke his spine. And kept going to work. You guys should watch the Courtship of Rivals documentary. You get both Magic and Larry, and you can’t come away without having mad respect for both of them.
Young fellas, that the Boston celtics, Larry legend Bird one of best to ever play the game of basketball, hands down, sorry y'all never got the chance to see what made the celtics lethal ,dawg he was a beast.
3:28. Notice he didn't step back into the 3pt line before taking the shot. Back then many players forgot it was there because the 3pt line was a new concept. Most of them back in college played with only 2 pt shots. Think about how different that is today. Curry focuses on 3pt shots. They didn't back then.
Please look up the video compilation of "greatest ever passer" and Bird will show you why he was considered the greatest passing forward to have ever played. Watch the full court bomb passes to his teammates for layups!!

Just a side note, at 8:30 on the Washington bench one of the coaches is Wes Unseld - in 1968-69 he became one of only two players to be named MVP in his ROOKIE season. Yikes!
@@victorsixtythree I was shocked to find out Chamberlain never even took a three point shot his entire career. So I cannot include him in the GOAT conversation.
"When Jordan played against you, he make you look slow, when Bird played against you, he made you look stupid" -James Worthy (Idk if the quote was fully correct or not lol)
Every amazing past that people freak out about it's only possible because the rest of the team is on point with Larry they know where he will be and they know what he will do. They're not given that credit enough
In the past 50 years, here are the highest Total Career Avg Stat Points (PTS + REB + AST + STL + BLK) #1) Jordan = 44.7 #2) LeBron = 44.4 #3) Bird = 43.1 #4) Kareem = 42.9 #5) Magic = 40.2
The behind the backboard shot did not count because of the Chamberlain rule. Wilt would station himself on the side and just behind the backboard. He would then reach out with those long arms catch the ball with one hand, reach around and toss the ball into the hoop. The backboard shielded him. Shots from behind the backboard were outlawed because of this. Great shot though.
