I opted to get both. I have a Savage 110 in 25-06, and a Remington 721 in 270. Then on a whim, I bought a Winchester model 70 custom shop rifle in 270. Yea, I know, I am addicted, but I like to collect, and like hunting, and I could think of a lot worse things I could be spending money on.

I’m a gun collector too, my 25-06 was built on an old German Mauser action with a Douglas barrel back in 1973 which i still have, I’m into lever guns and enjoy the 30-30, and 35 Rem. do a lot of 22 plinking. Next time don't buy standard store ammo. Because on the assembling line, each round will get a different grain amount. Look for ammo that has MATCH on the box somewhere! Match means each round has the same amount of grain in each bullet. If you use MATCH ammo, each bullet will show there speed the same, anf you'll have a much better grouping. Aleast as I was told in the military sniper school. When I go hunting I always use MATCH ammo.

The .25-06 does have a tad less recoil, and I could be wrong but I think the lightest factory loads are 130 grains in .270, but the . 25-06 has several 90 grain loadings which are quite a bit faster than the 130 grain .270. I'd say if long range varmint hunting is in the plans, the .25-06 may be the better choice, but both are awesome, for sure.

Is a said in one of your other videos I also have an M77 in 25 06 But an older low time model I also have the 270 in a 700 bdl rem. Both are excellent rifles and cartridge's And both shoot very accurately and I have killed several deer with each !! (150 class ) Loved the comparison and I will cherish both these calibres for the rest of my days !! ❤

Thanks for sharing. I've owned a 25-06 since the late 1990s. Purchased a 270 this past year. These are two of my favorite calibers. Good to see you have longer barrels. Optimal barrel length for the 25-06 is 24" due to the slower burning powders used in its loads. Both rifles shoot flat and hard.

Thanks WTW! My .25-06 reloads were 3200 fps using Nosler 125 gr. boat tail hollow tips out of my Remington 700 Varmint Special bull barrel using an old Weaver K10x Range Finder AO. The action and chamber and trigger were touched up by a fella in central CA. named Ken Clark a renowned local gunsmith. I used to hunt bounty coyotes and feral dogs for cattle ranchers, and ground squirrels for large orchard owners. $10 per dog, $15 for coyotes and .25 cent a tail for ground squirrels. A weekend camp and good hunt would pay for the gas, ammo and beer. Hitting and blowing up squirrels out to 800 yards over and over all day, was a lot of fun. Canines were a lot of work. Good old days for me.

Great choices.... Weatherby in .270 win is an awesome rifle choice. That is my go to rifle. Mine is a Vanguard w/ synthetic stock rifle and I mounted a 3-9x40mm Leupold scope on it. Crazy accurate combo. Dime size groups @ 100 yds. It is a no frills super accurate rifle. I use rem corlokt 130 gr SP ammo... If you need a go to rifle setup that is reasonably priced this is it.

🇺🇸 💜🙏🏼💜 I first started to follow you when you did a video using that beautiful .270 and I’ve been following ever since. I live in Pennsylvania, and have lost count of the number of white tails I’ve killed with my .270 Remington, with 130 grain bullets... it was the first rifle I bought when I was still in school ... 1975 that gun still will shoot a sub 1/2 inch group at 100 yards. I’ve killed black bears using 150 grain and a ton of groundhogs using 90 grain hollow points. Antelope at 400 yards and Mule deer at 150, in Wyoming... I have a few rifles, but none can compare to my .270. I really enjoy your videos and appreciate the time and effort you use to share with your followers. Much Respect to you and Heavy Metal..l thank You both for the entertainment. Stay Safe, and good luck this deer season.
