Unusual one this - the BBC1 logo in yellow rather than white, introducing Newsround. Do please subscribe here on RU-vid and follow us on twitter @thetvmuseum for more goodies from the archives.
Yes, me too. I was 7. The Radio Times cover was published at the end of May in 1977, the week before their Jubilee special edition. Nicola Griffin was interviewed by John Craven about her prize winning cover art. By 1977 the Radio Times masthead was incorporated into the cover image and was no longer on a white strip above it as demonstrated by John Noakes in the clip.
This is the earliest episode of Blue Peter I have seen with the date on the credits. I have seen a 1974 episode on here with no date and they didn't have BBC TV on the credits in the 60s like every other programme did. I watched a programme about 15 years ago called The Curse of Blue Peter and they said about how Biddy Baxter ruled the show with a rod. Yvette Fielding said how she phoned hear at about 5.30 in the morning once.
It was a great idea to introduce children to the news ,I watched news round growing up and John craven would explain things so we would understand even done an item on pocket money hehehehe ,now Tv is not good glad I was born at a good time
I totally agree. Newsround explained the news so we could all understand. I can't believe that this was all so long ago, and yet I remember these shows so clearly. Really glad that clips like these have survived and are available for us all to see again - not to mention in technically perfect condition.
