A little wear shouldn't be an issue . Maybe grind the worn spot to more of an original appearance. You can change the freeze plug in the truck but its not fun. Good luck Andy, Cheers
Dahl Dog you clean up good, I mean you cleaned your up good, looks great, hopefully the Fargo starts ok for you, catch you soon buddy have a great weekend 😀😀
Shop looks good Andy. I really think you can take motor mount out and raise motor up on that side and get freeze plug out. It looks tight but should have to much trouble. Take it easy and we will see you on the next one. 👍😎✌️
Managing the mess isnt easy. I gave up. But seems like once a week i do a clean up,its like regrouping and starting with a clean slate. Frost plug isnt bad to do. Time consuming. Pulling mount is the hardest part. Using the mount bolt gives you some way to pry new (brass) plug in. Get a frost plug kit, gives you spares, and in case you bugger the first one.
The old Fargo is looking good. Hope you get some help with that flywheel. My experience with freeze plugs is limited but I remember it was not a difficult job. At least with the proper tools. And I had a couple of friends who were mechanics so I could always get the right tools if I didn't already have them. Enjoy dinner. Look forward to more. Be safe and stay well.
Hey Brian. Thanks for dropping by the Dog House. I hope to get it solved soon. I was also thinking that maybe the Bendix wasn't coming out of the starter far enough and the gears were mashing. I hope to get it figured out before I break something.
@@AndysDogHouseit could be the starter needs shimming out, if it's not original?welch plugs (freez plugs) can be a 😮 but I'm sure you will find a bent rod and old socket to fit, weather looked like it's getting better, that Fargo is cool, I think my Dad owned one once, it used to be a tow truck, thanks for sharing, all the best to you and your loved ones
It's always something, frost plugs can be a real pain in the ass. They do make a brass/rubber compression style replacement. If the starter has a real tinny metallic type sound when it's turning it needs shimming. Take care.
Hey Glen. Thanks for dropping y the Dog House. I will see what kind I can find. The noise that I get when starting the truck is really loud. It is a bang. Like a door slamming. I'm afraid to turn it off when I'm away from the shop.
Hey Andy sounds like you have some problems 😢 Might want to see if your starter is shimmed correctly. I just pulled two shims off my brothers car and it works a lot better. Maybe you can get better access to the frost plug by removing the mount and lifting the engine on that side 🤔
Hey BB King. Thanks for dropping y the Dog House. What do you mean by shimming the starter? I Never heard of that. I guess I have more learning to do. The noise is really loud. It is as loud as a door slamming and then the starter stops turning.
