Does SeaFoam actually work in a vehicle? The ultimate test---a 30-year old truck with noisy lifters and horrible oil pressure! This engine sounds like a 1990s era diesel! Did this stuff work? The video will provide proof!

You should have cleaned that blackened T'Body until it is like new. the back of the plate you sprayed is worse than the front; sidewall should be cleaned. It will idle like new. also clean the idle air solenoid or replace it!

I realize this vid is old but wanted to add a story. One of my older 4cyl cars at 250k miles had like new compression on three cyls and below spec compression on one. On the advice of a mechanic friend I took out the plug for that cyl and sprayed in seafoam until it puddled on the piston. He said I may have a stuck ring. I did this three times over a week while the car sat, testing compression each time. 4th try. BOOM compression up to match the others and still running today. I changed the oil right after to get that stuff out. Word to the wise... when you run the engine to burn this stuff out do it AT NIGHT so your neighbors dont spaz and call the fire department.

@@captainamericaamerica8090 You don't have a problem with this guy's channel, you have a problem with capitalism. Yes, he gets paid by views, that's how RU-vid works, in case you are just now learning this. This is his second job, and like everyone who applies themselves to their work, he does what he can to maximize his views. The wonderful thing is, he maximizes his view by producing EXCELLENT CONTENT. There is nothing - and I do mean nothing - wrong with a person who produces excellent content making money. In fact, I LOVE the fact that he is making money with his excellent content, because that encourages him to CONTINUE MAKING EXCELLENT CONTENT. Or, did you expect him to just do it out of the kindness of his heart? Making money because you are doing excellent work is not a bad thing, if you think it is, then you have a problem with capitalism, not this content provider.

I have a 1998 Nissan Altima with 311000 (three hundred and eleven) thousand miles. It wasn't running right, so I added a can of seafoam to the gas. It didn't solve the engine bucking and jerking, so I bought a container of another brand of cleanser that said it would be enough for 25 gallons. I was in the mindset that more was better and added the whole thing to my 14 gallon tank. Now my car barely keeps running and sounds like it's only running on two cylinders. It may not have been the cleanser, but I thought I would ask you if you thought I made have damaged my engine or some other components of the engine, like the catalytic converter, oxygen sensor, noc sensor, fuel injectors and etc?

@@IM1LDSRU2 yeah honest truth is 311,000 is very high mileage and many vehicles start to die at this point. These cleaners only clean up carbon from the engine but your engine might have more issues than just carbon build up. Clearing the carbon could've caused a pressure leak somewhere as well which can lead to low compression in the engine which could be your issue. Would the cleaner cause damage? Unlikely. Could it have cleared up a leak somewhere that carbon build up might've plugged? Possibly

@@yeagermcbipper9008 the wear is still there- but the sludge causing the sticking is gone, allowing the hydraulic lash adjuster/lifter to do it's job better- which is to cushion the closing of the valve so that you dn't hear the clacking. The sludge and coke throughout the engine is reduced, allowing oil to get where it should go. It doesn't fix anything more than cleaning would- but it saves many neglected motors from the junk yard. Stumbled across this vid by accident. Excellent work! Nice not to have annoying music or other such nonsense; just straightforward facts and proof of product claims right there in your face. I've gotten into arguments over the years with so-called experts who claim SeaFoam is nothing but snake oil. My dad, who was an NHRA record holder back in the early 70's, and did all of his own engine and set-ups, swore by this stuff. My real world first-person proof came when I bought an '84 F250 w/6.9 diesel. It was almost 15 years old then and had spent a lot of years sitting in a barn. Everyone said take it to a dealer or mechanic, needs a re-build, etc., etc. Being a cheapskate (LOL) I decided to put my old man's advice to the test. Dumped in a whole can and... WOW! Injectors and motor sounds told the story. What were once rough (really rough) starts, poor throttle response and crappy running became instant starts, crisp responsive throttle and smoooth as butter running - around town and out on the highway. Anyone who says SF is a "trick" is deluded. This stuff really almost is MAGIC in a can. I also have taken to using a few Lucas products over the past decade and their stuff is also spot-on as they claim. Like you suggested just try it first. Could make all the difference between an expensive rebuild... or just a few bucks. I use SeaFoam in ANYTHING that's got an engine: gas, diesel or 2-stroke. Old or new. Thanks for this video. Consider me subbed!

I never believed in additives. I watched this video and bought some Seafoam to try out on a 31 yr old barn found Honda motorcycle I was fixing to rebuild. I figured what the heck, I'm going to rebuild/rebore/rering and replace everything anyways. Did like the video. Scared the hell out of myself. Never rebuilt the motor. After initial treatment it would start on 4-10 kicks no problem. 3 months of riding daily on Seafoam treated gas, 2-3 kicks. 6 months later 1-2 kicks. I paid $250 for that bike and just sold it for $2650 and only replaced the front and rear wheel bearings and $30 worth of Seafoam. The guy that bought it tried to kick it over without using the compression release, he couldn't, I never could either. He's like "did you rebuilt the top end?" , me: "Nope, just got it going using Seafoam." . He was shocked, he was like me with my skepticism about additives. I had three cans on hand and gave them to him along with 1/2 a case of Honda motor oil. He immediately dumped a can of Seafoam into his trucks tank. Him and his son drove away with the bike. 10-12 days later he sent me an email praising Seafoam and how his truck starts easily now.

For these older vehicles it is recommended to also replace the oil pan plug with a magnetic one. Older engine's have more wear and are more vulnerable so adding a magnetic plug can save your engine by trapping metal pieces.

@@emceehamma3693 you would be wasting finances on a magnetic drain plug when you could invest in a higher quality oil filter, that again works better. If there are any metal chunks that big that somehow make it through your system, you have a MUCH bigger problem than just filtering oil lol The premise is that even if you have a fancy magnet, it won't fix the massive problem of metal fragments in your oil, that means somethings falling apart.
@emceehamma3693
@emceehamma3693 2 года назад
@@jetfire245 A magnetic drain plug isn't going to be some massive financial expense, and it is reusable. As well as anything it catches isn't going to end up in the filter, potentially allowing the filter to operate better. On an old truck, if you remove it and see bigger metal chunks, then it's essentially going to alert you that you have a big problem you have to address-no one with half a brain is going to install one with the hopes its going to actually fix anything.. The pros absolutely out weigh the cons here.

Seafoam is not only a great short term stabilizer but it does it's job! I will say it's recommended at 1 oz per gal of gas but for bikes to start go with 1/2 oz per gal on the initial cleaning. It can remove too much debris and cause issues that are more than when you started..
