Hope you got the answer to my question, I'm debating on buying an older 288 off marketplace that's got low hours and been very well-maintained over the years vs a brand new 585xp... They rave about older saw being indestructible, they don't build them like that anymore, but does that mean today's saws with all the electronics and auto tuning are just not designed to last? New would probably cost twice as much but not sure if buying an older saw is gonna turn into a money pit down the road... Aside from that, performance wise, how do older saws in general compare to today's? Sorry I'm asking a lot of questions but it's always best to get educated first before making a decision. Thanks in advance and hope to hear from ya!
The 585 only has a limited coil. Carb is adjustable. They are an air leak saw so you had better be running a top of the heap mix oil. I would not say they were not going to last. It depends upon operator input along with maintainance habits, condition of the chain. The 181/281/288 are all the same bottomend except for the super early 181s - which most of those had a case issue and were upgraded after they cracked. A slight miss at high idle and the 1 & 2 series Husky were bullet proof. What you ask is a little like comparing apples and kiwis. The new saws run different/better because of the engine design. I don't think they will last longer all things being equal. Thanks for watching.
I know this video is older but I’m trying to figure out what the best carb for a 288xp. And also is there a Governor in them because mine just doesn’t seem to really turn up. Thanks for any advice you can give. Love your vids have been watching you a long time
Tony hi. With enough Dinero thrown at it. Trouble is, you are then sporting the smaller 6202 crank bearings in the 268 cases I've lost them in 70/71cc saws that were zipped. The thing will vibrate a lot worse too. That's not helpful to the smallish crank bearings either. Best of luck. Thanks for watching.
George hi. There are many different options. Here is my email address: danger_cat@rocketmail.com Please shoot me a note there to start the process. Thanks for watching.
