On a Z32 theres a button that you have to press to remove the key. it should be immediately below the key. I know it's a simple thing but you also did forget where the air controls where as you where staring right at them. :) (also not trying to sound toxic I just don't know how I would word it.)

@08:56... my Z is currently in the condition yours was about a month ago with the empty Bay and a bunch of Stitch welding everywhere. That is literally where I'm at body harness is ripped out engine bay strip bear lower subframe and all that stuff missing. Interior is 90% gutted. I cannot wait to hear that sound legit I cannot wait so I hear you my friend that is a glorious sound =]

preprodigy never had a 240 so I wouldnt know the similarities. maybe he just forgot it had a button at that moment that he recorded, maybe its an actual problem we wont know till next video i suppose ;)

Getting the key out of the ignition is really easy. Because the car was an automatic and not a manual shift. the car will not let you take the key out of the ignition until the car is a neutral. Easiest way to bypass that, is in the ignition switch itself. There should be a plug with two wires on the ignition switch in the steering column, just unplug it. That will bypass the neutral safety switch to take the key out.

Your car was originally automatic so it wouldn't let you remove the key unless it was in park, but you don't have those wires anymore. Remove the steering column covers to reveal the ignition switch and it's wires. Just cut the red and black wires. If the key was locked in the ignition there is a red square button on the ignition switch you can push to unlock it. It’s right above the round black button you usually push to release the key. Hope this helps

Kalvin, Didn't need to splice-out power from that plug. You'll actually need to build a sub-harness to connect to that plug as there are many other things that plug sends signal to from the ECU, such as tach, check engine, water temp,& fuel pump controller BC

I am sure that you fully clean the part before you started powder coating. Also I'm sure you clean the metal of the great before you attached your ground lead. Another tip would be to put the part in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes in order to fully warm up that way when you go to powder coat any powder that touches the part will instantly start to melt out into the flow coat which will allow the powder to stick then when you get full coverage you throw it in the oven to finalize baking. It helps a lot especially for cold parts

Keep up the good work man ! Try and clock the turbo center housing to a better position so you can route the drain out and around the other side to keep it away from the manifold ... yes it will melt even with the heat wrap ask Adam LZ lol .... or you will have to make a custom hard line

Personally I think you should cancel your tuning day, and slow down. Your flying a million miles per minute, and you'll start cutting corners and things won't work. Another thing is your turbo drain. You need to clock the turbo housing and run that drain out away from the manifold. You can but stainless braided lines and wrap them, it'll still melt it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not talking shit. I love what you're doing and how you're doing it. It is inspiring, and I'm excited to see the outcome!

I'm the same way when you've been working on a car that long and you're excited about your own progress on that car you tend to want to get even more done so that you can finish it and actually enjoy the fruits of your labor. It is not a bad thing and personally I think more people in this world need that sense of urgency instead of sitting on the couch watching other people work telling them to slow down to be lazy like us sitting on a couch watching other people work LMFAO. If that was the case we would not have these videos to watch so f*** that. Calvin keep doing you brother definitely appreciate the content I love that I'm not the only person who takes a 300ZX and goes above and beyond with the build quality. I love to see that s*** keep posting my friend and if you want to hustle keep hustling

You are a huge inspiration to my 240 build. I recently started the big brake system upgrade and the z32 brake booster and BMC. Slow process of cleaning and making sure everything is tip top. Yo Kalvin, I dont wanna step on your game but I think you should slow down and re-schedule the Dyno Day. Rushing through a car build like this will most likely leave you unsatisfied in the long run because you didnt take the time to give everything the attention that you wanted. Just my 2 cents. ALSO, since your car was originally an auto there is a ign cylinder lockout feature that is controlled by a cable. If you look at the ign key cylinder youll see a cable going into it, trace the cable and pull the knob out or in and you can then pull the key out (had that happen on my 240 which was auto to manual swapped). You can also just go ahead and completely remove that cable by prying a tab on the cylinder, it is intended to interface with an auto shifter.

I would cut away that VG ecu connector, and just solder/ crimp a extension wire on the existing wire, just pulling the wire through like you did is no go, it can and it will move due to vibrations etc. Not a good move. Always solder or use a wire extension crimp. Always cut a way connectors that will not be used. I would also cut away that starter motor connector, and just solder or use wire extension crimp with some heat shrink over. The spade connector you use, might come loose. Just some tips. :) Good look on your build. I`m awaiting my 2JZ for my Z32 right now. :)

He could just throw some solder on it as is and it would definitely last pretty much indefinitely. As is, it is still unlikely to fail, but I'd rather be certain too.

Long story short, in my younger car days first starting I torqued a lower intake manifold with a crappy Tq wrench and when I added coolant it poured out. I was for sure I ruined it. Retourqued it the next day and everything was fine. Live and learn. Lol

Smart man f*** that harmonic balancer definitely don't want to play around with s*** like that. I'm not sure why everyone in the comments were f****** crying over the solid lightweight lower pulley. I have one on my 300ZX non-turbo I've installed literally hundreds on 300ZX Twin Turbo and non-turbo cars for customers. And I have never ever ever ever ever ever ever had a f****** problem resulting from it ever. I understand and respect the idea and concept behind the dampener pulley however I don't think it does detrimental as everyone is making it out to be. The sky is falling the sky is falling LOL I would personally just rock the lightweight and call it a day but that's me and I've never given a f*** what other sick or think especially on my personal builds. But I respect you and what you do brother so whatever you decide to do I just appreciate the content

Why are you in such a rush bro? You seem to be creating your own unnecessary stress with this deadline. Duplication work happens when trying to cut corners. Wouldn't you rather have your car running and driving for a while, working out gremlins, before sending it to the tuner? Just my thoughts man... cause your whole relaxed and methodical method behind this build has gone right down the toilet, by a timeline you set against yourself.

@@czza2949 why would he have to wait till spring he could always trailer the car over to the dino he's not going to stop progress on his bill just because it's winter time. He's a RU-vidr like all other RU-vidrs who become successful they learn to thrive on this type of conditioning. In order to continue to grow he needs to continue the build so he constantly has content to share so that people will continue to watch and help share videos and grow his channel. The ultimate goal. Can't do that when you're taking your sweet ass time like it's a personal build for no one to see. Got to keep s*** moving otherwise People Like Us who are used to a billion different distractions will get distracted and forget about the build. Whereas if he does what he's doing it keeps our attention it keeps the build in our minds and anytime of videos uploaded we are more inclined to open the link and watch what's going on. You can't think of it the way you do with your garage build it's not the same

I think it's partially because a first start and dyno run with tuning will be excellent for viewership and Kavlin is really trying to get some attention for this build. Otherwise I think it also has to do with scheduling time with the tuner and on the dyno. Plus, sometimes setting harsh deadlines for yourself is a great motivator. Many people work best under presence.

Yes definitely relay the fuel pump. If you need to you can cut fuel line in half and rap it around the pump and then clamp it onto the fuel hanger

Issue with the powder coat sticking may be due to the grate you were using for grounding already being coated in paint or not making good enough contact with the parts. Good grounding is very important and the parts will not make great contact through already baked paint. I like to hang parts from wires and attach the ground to the wire, though it's hard to put them in a small oven after painting. Just some tips since I used to work in a powder coating factory. :)

Issue with getting the key out is the park position key interlock. Won't let you remove the key if the park signal isn't tripped. Should have to ground a wire that used to go to the shifter to fix that. You may also need to ground a wire for the transmission position signal to allow the start position to work as well. This is going off my Subaru knowledge, but same principals.

Charge your battery and check how much voltage you are seeing at battery vs. at fuel pump wires. That will tell you how much voltage drop you have. Either way a relay is a good idea and it will be super easy for you to wire since your battery is in the trunk, so might as well!

One more thing on the pump wiring though. Seems a typical pump will draw 6-10A, so I wouldn't doubt that your new pump will draw up to double that. The power handling limit of 18AWG, if that is what you car uses, is around 16A in a short run. So while it may be almost sufficient, yes I would say upgrading to a relay that can handle at least 30A and installing a 20A fuse to start with is a good idea.

Signed in just to warn people 15:30 Do not *ever* do this without solder. Doesn't matter how well you wrap those wires together air molecules are trapped between them or if moisture gets into the joint and corrodes that creates resistance, resistance creates heat, heat = fire. Solder your splices people. Edit: and use electrical tape, not heat resistant tape... Other than that I love this build

Key is stuck because with the automatic transmissions , most cars have a cable that will allow the key to release when shifted to park.

for the key, theres a button to take out the key its black and long, if that doesnt work, theres a white box with a small littlw button you press in then press in the long black one then take out the key

Yes. Upgrade fuel pump 12 v and ground with fuse, relay signal. No no no!! Crimp or solder that wire!! A loose conection like that will develop heat 😠. Do things right, or don't do it at all.

Hey man I'm doing this swap and I got some wiring questions for you. ! Mainly what I need to know is what to connect from the z32 body harness to the engine harness. I saw you needing ignition power. But I don't remember hearing what pin you connected the ECU switched power to on the 2jz harness. The red and black wire that you spliced into to be specific. I'll be starting my videos here soon but I just thought I'd ask.! Any help would be awesome !

Why is the oil drain going thru the runners? The turbo should be clocked with the feed and drain as close to vertical as possible with the lines nowhere near the manifold

Just like how he used electrical tape on the bare injector wires, instead of simply splicing in new ones.. if they short out intermittently= could result in leaning out enough to fry the engine

Why brotha? They are very common with drains and are fine. Just don’t tilt them up.

@@KalvinMalli the idea of the drain is to drain as freely as possible.. ie. Vertical. CHRA should be clocked to vertical or close to, and ideally the drain hose should make one smooth bend down to the return fitting. If oil backs up even occasionally, you could blow out the seals on that nice new turbo.

That will bypass the neutral safety switch to take the key out. On the 240 it should be a Black and red wire with a brown connector. Just disconnect that and leave it disconnected.

Typically called the shifter interlock or park position key lock etc. I'm sure there are guides or diagrams online to fix it in a 240!

No content? This video alone included fixing a fuel pump issue, ECU power and ground, transmission mount install, first battery install with new harness, and more. Yes most of it was overview or summary, but would you really want to see him turn every bolt? He is trying to get ready for the dyno quickly! Filming slows you down a ton.
