Thanks Bill. The color is Createx Candy 2o "Dirt Track Brown" 4 coats over Hot Rod Sparkle Red. Hot Rod Sparkle Red is a white with a heavy metallic with a tint of red. If you look really close you can also see a gold pearl ghost flame under the candy. Thanks for the comment. I'm glad you liked the video and thanks for watching.

Scott, I made my own exhaust fan. Here is a link to the video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-Qu225OrJJlM.htmlsi=aGX2uMfQHeUsdI7d I also have now add hvac filters to the back for added protection. As far as hanging my work I have two eye hooks in my celling with two wires. two wires work better than one. It's more stable. Also, when I hang the guitars i have a pin that goes through one of the neck holes with a wire attached to each end. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

2k clearcoat is a product made for the hobbyist for restoring furniture and such like, As your demonstration shows!! Or maybe a small project respraying a damaged car body dent apply the area after respraying as an extra layer of protection,Tobe honest your the first person I've seen applying this material in the way it should be used, In the case here proves that hardness and durability is important, To resist ware and tear as in this example a Guitar body!! You'll be surprised to know how many so called headlights restorers still useing this product on polycarbonate lenses, Little do they know the negative long term damage from not using the correct clearcoat!!! Thanks for sharing this informative info!!!🤔🇬🇧👍

Sweet, I was going to drive down to this automotive paint store and pickup some clear and catalyst, but this is a much easier and cheaper option for a guitar kit that only cost $150. It looks easy, and it looks great!

@TheAirbrushGarage

Alias, if I understand this correctly, you want to spay the clear into a cup and then put it into the air brush. I have never done that before, but if you try it, let me know if it worked. Have you considered a self leveling brush on epoxy clear? There are several products out there. Just do a Google search. Let me know what you think.

Great video, thanks. 2 Qs: 1. how long 'til handle time (not 24h dry time)? 2. Where's the exhaust from that BF Fan going?😆
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Год назад
JddjTube, about 1 hr. To handle 24 hrs for full cure. I like to let it sit a day before I handle it unless i need to make a repair. As far as the exhaust for small jobs like that, I can get away without sending it outside. The filter on the front and the vent filters on the back clear the mist almost emediatly. I have a video on how I made it. I put the vent filters on the back after posting the video. Works without them but even better with them. Thanks for the question, and thanks for watching.

Soooo coool Dan!!!! Thank you. Answered a ton of questions. But I gotta question or two. When you buff it out, are you using a specific brand of buffing compound? I have seen 2K primers. Do you have any thoughts on that product. After the last coat of 2K topcoat, how long before fully cured? Thanks; Tony

EWS, I like Maguires. I wet sand with 1500 and the 2000. I finish off with Maguires light cut and then Maguires mirror glaze. I will use a 2k primer if I am spraying a car or a motorcycle. I wait at least 24 hrs. before wet sanding. I hope this helps and thanks for watching.

Hi sir good day to you...i have a question on how i get a crackle on most of the part of the guitar..is it when i waited an hour on every coat? I have 3 coats and the final and third coat thats the time when the crackle came out when i applied most of the coat..by the way i waited a day on the base coat before applying 2k can clear coat thanks for your video sir
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 3 месяца назад
Chickies, what you are describing sounds like lifting or feathering (same thing). This usually only happens when there is incompatible materials. What material is your base coat? Do you have any other paint like Createx on top of the base coat? As far as the time between coats of clear, I only wait until the previous coat tacks up, about 10 minute between coats. But, putting coats of clear on every hour or the next day still should not "crackle".

Initially I love the 2k finish. It was glass like. Buried my decal on the headstock perfectly. About after finish a project I used painters tape on the guitar and the clear coat pealed right of when removing the tape..adhesion issues. Maybe I needed to sand with 800 grit to create a surface the 2 k would stick too, but the paint was metallic. I had to restart the project unfortunately.

Man! that sucks! I can say I never had that problem. I have used this on kids catchers mask that get abused heavily, i.e. thrown on the ground and still look great. I wish I could help for why that happened to you but I am at a loos.

Hey man. I am getting ready to spray a color tone metallic gold lacquer with 2k clear. How long did you let your metallic sit and dry and what was it made of ? I wasn’t planning to sand mine either.
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 6 месяцев назад
@leeslife1981 Lee, all my paints are Createx water-based paints, except the 2k clear. Even with mywater based paints, I give it a day before I clear. With laquacor, I would look at the specific manufacturers' dry times. It's probably a few days. If it is not fully cured when you clear, you can have out gassing, which will bubble the clear.

Did you do any level sanding or did you just go straight to the buffer? Just curious because I know some guys won't bother with sanding and can live with a little bit of orange peel but some want that mirror finish. This is a great option because I have 2k clear and hardener sitting on my shelf for more than five years and I am not sure if it is any good anymore. Have you tried the Duraspray by Eastwood with the Wise 2k technology?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage Год назад
Rob, with the cans I really do not get orange peal like I do with the spray gun or I would say it is an acceptable level of orange peal so I just go straight to the buffer. I do have a video on sanding and buffing as well. And like you I also have auto clear and hardener on the shelf for way to long. Most of the work I do can be handled with the cans and it is so much easier. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

@@TheAirbrushGarage awesome. I will have to check that video out. I struggle with the level sanding. I try and sand the edges on whatever guitar I am working on it never fails that I wind up sanding through to the primer. I think if the orange peel is not crazy on whatever project guitar I am doing I think I will just go straight to buffing as well. Thank you so much. You have been so helpful

Rob, yes! Edges are a bitch! You have to be very carful on anything not flat. I hand sand (carefully) no block my edges.
@davea5794
@davea5794 2 года назад
Was buffing with compound enough to get rid of the orange peel, or do you recommend sanding with fine grit sandpaper first?
@TheAirbrushGarage
@TheAirbrushGarage 2 года назад
David, with using the can clear I just buffed with a medium cut then a fine cut then a polish and I am happy with my results. Now if I sprayed clear from a spray gun I always have to block sand to level the orange peal and then Buff. On a surface Like a guitar you have to be careful on the edges not to sand through the clear. I love this stuff in a spray can! Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

No joking about the spray system expense/complexity. I’m in the process of putting together a 5HP system to drive my shiny new CA Technologies Cat-Xpress spray gun. Everything had to be upgraded. Filters, dryers, coolers between the compressor and the tank. It’s all pretty overwhelming if you’re new to it, as I am. Expect to spend at least $2000 to put together a decent air spraying system to be able to do clear coat finishes.

Brandon, I have only ever used it over the Wicked and Candy 2o. I would not see a need to use it on any paint formulated for interior applications like illustration. It is to expensive to use when the durability and UV protection is not needed. Thanks for the question and thanks for watching.

Yes. but for around $25 and a no hassle great automotive finish on projects this size, I love it. They didn't have this option a few years ago and I had to have a very expensive set up and a gallon of clear, Quart of activator and reducer on the shelf for such projects (and a lot of practice). At a cost of around $150 for those products. Yes it can do more but if someone is like me in that I do not need this type of clear all the time theses cans are a game changer.
