My kneejerk answer to Alcohols greatest drawback is that it is flammable , Extremely so . A main danger is a container ignition and spraying flammable/ignited liquid directly on a person . Most people store alcohol in plastic bottles of one sort or another and they melt and potentially rupture .( I lost a friend when Gasoline jumped a can causing it to rupture (explode )and sprayed him with burning gasoline .)Which is why my mind turns this way so and I am so unbearably preachy on this subject whenever I judge a chance to be so . Apologies nonetheless, Fire is a deadly poison , It destroys skin immediately on contact and skin isn't optional .The calculation for burn victims is percentage of body burned +age= mortality . To that end , I wonder if Alcohol might be replaced with something else in these specific operations , Hydrogen peroxide , Bleach/water , Potassium permanganate .
